Rating: Summary: Powerhouse Review: Al Franken is so funny. I couldn't put this book down. Stay at home and read this. You'll be greatly entertained.
Rating: Summary: Check the date this book was published. Review: For the people who are reviewing this book and giving it a one because they feel sorry for Rush and his drug addiction, please check the date of publication. Franken knew Rush was a big, fat, idiot before his drug addiction became public. I read it and "Lies and the Lying Liars who Tell Them", and found both funny and entertaining. "Lies" has more factual info but I enjoyed them both. If you don't like liberals you shouldn't read these books. I don't listen to Rush unless I'm with some one else who is and I can't escape. He drives me crazy. I feel sorry for him that he is an addict but what makes him better or more treatable than all the other addicts he has been advocating throwing in jail? His money? His color? Rush is a big fat idiot who got his servant to commit illegal acts to feed his addiction. I hope he learns something about being human.
Rating: Summary: Insightful, But Not Too Deep Review: To begin, I should state for the number of indignant Conservatives who have written "reviews" (Quotations added as many of them have not even read the book) that there actually WAS a book written about Al Franken by his Conservative counterparts, titled "Al Franken is a Bucktoothed Moron".
Secondly, while many attack the title of the book, after a read through, it becomes readily apparent that it is meant as satire of the same ad hominem attacks people like Limbaugh are so fond of. For instance, during one broadcast, when Limbaugh began to speak about the white house dog and then proceeded to hold up a picture of Chelsea Clinton (Thirteen years old at the time). Now, I ask, how can anyone with a conscience defend Rush that transgression? To insult your opponent is one thing, but to hurl insults at an innocent child, too young to understand the dynamics and nuances of politics, is one of the lowest things I've witnessed right-wingers do, and that is saying something.
But I digress.
The book is a great weekend-read; short, and written in a style that is easily accessible, it provides chuckles throughout, hilarity in points, and while its lack of depth is a nuisance, it exposes some of the biggest lies the Right has told. For instance, the supposed "murder" by the Clintons. For as many right-wingers have accused 'Billary' of misrepresenting the facts, many of those same quickly latched on to this whopper with the facts not only misrepresented, but completely left out. It exposes Rush's disdain for the truth, how many of the 'facts' in his book came from such credible sources as the Tobacco Industry, and much of the rest was completely made up. And shows Pat Robertson for the wacko he truly is, but hey, that's not exactly a difficult task.
There are some complaints---It lacks depth, and while the Fat-Rush jokes are clever device at first, they grow tiresome after a time, and finally, there are a couple chapters that fail to touch on the subject they were meant to be about at all, instead going off on wild tangents about his family or research assistant, Geoff. While these were funny, they hardly had anything to do with Limbaugh, or Conservativism in general. But that's not enough to prevent me from recommending it for Franken's humor, both the self-effacing and the political, easy accessibility, and at times, dead-on accuracy.
Rating: Summary: low on the snl totempole Review: The best thing that Al Franken ever did was being a side kick for Ron Decline in the Rutles- Plain and simple he stinks!
Rating: Summary: Not Just An Idiot, but Review: also a junkie! Who would have thought that after broadcasting his daily show he'd be heading down to local Denny's parking lot to score some smack from his own maid. Only in America folks...
Rating: Summary: Satire and Statistics Review: An intern and a president, a pundit and an addiction, a public and it's "awareness". Be dazzled by the fireworks, it's a bipartisan dance; two idiots stepping on each other's toes. One man, one vote, you near-sighted lovers.
Rating: Summary: A Bunch of Sissies Review: I haven't actually read this book. I'm 14 and a Republican. But what's really annoying is how immature Al Franken and everyone else is. Naming your book 'Rush Limbaugh Is a Big Fat Idiot' is just so immature. For crying out loud, 2nd graders do that kind of thing. So is Mr. Mauro's book: Al Franken Is a Buck-Toothed Moron'. How immature can you get? Instead of discussing your problems like a normal mature adult, everyone's writing books about how 'hypocritical' and liars everyone is. Grow up.
Rating: Summary: Complete waste by a has-been b-movie "actor" Review: Do you want to take advice from a washed up b-movie actor? If so, buy this book.
Rating: Summary: PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING~~~~~~~~ Review: I am a 21 year old who is going through drug addiction which is a desease. I struggle every day to stay sober and change my life. Going through detox and showing up to my meetings every day is hard. I had the same addiction as Rush did and I pray for myself and everyone else with addictions. You DO NOT know an addiction until you have one. For someone as sick as this nut to make fun of Rush and other people in books and not confronting them is childish and sounds like he has a insecurity problem. IF you dont like the man dont lisen to him. You dont have to write a damn book to slander him!!!!!!!! Notice how there has not been a book written slandering Al Franken by the people he has slandered?? Well they are being real men and women and not playing his childish games. Al write a book on something positive for once!!
Rating: Summary: Glad i did not buy this... Review: I read it, it's interesting. Then I looked up its sales and realized it was a total disaster, and I along with many can see why. Also, like most of the politically correct left (liberalism was hijacked many years ago by the left, oooppps, I am sorry, by the "progessives") Mr. fat face Franken, opppps, a bad bigoted statement I just said, oh my, anyway, buck tooth Franken presents mostly his semantics and opinions as if they are truth and fact. Even Ingraham's book "Shut UP ..." addresses the issues from left to right, up and down; whereas, Mr. Franken (now wallowing in oblivion after FOX Network's dumb suit brought him 15 minutes more of fame) just presents his, well, "better" opinion(s) for all of us. I once met Mr. Franken in a social setting. His boorish behavior he considers amusing; his typed words in his books he considers intelligent.
