Summary: Precious Childhood Memories
Review: I loved this book. I recommend it for any Rankin/Bass fans. As a child I loved the Rankin/Bass specials. And now as a mother of two small children I have started to enjoy them all over again. My children love to look through this book. And adults always smile when they see this book on my coffee table. It takes them back to their childhood. I'd like to thank Mr. Goldschmidt for doing a wonderful job on this book and giving the Rankin/Bass team the attention that they deserve! THANKS!!!

Review: I purchased this book last year after its release. I have always been a fan of the Rankin-Bass Christmas Specials since I was a little boy. The information provided and pictures included provide in-depth information and commentary on all of the wonderful Rankin-Bass productions we all have come to know and love. The author did a great job in presenting the material in an easy to read and understandable format. The chapters are very well laid-out and well written. I highly recommend this book for all of the Rankin-Bass fans out there!

Summary: He'll go down in History!
Review: I think the other reviewers here have just about covered it BUT I wanted to add that this is the way a book should be done on a classic HOLIDAY TV SPECIAL. It is loaded with information and gives background on everything from the voice actors to the Stop-motion animation. In Rick's other book he covered the entire body of RANKIN/BASS work, which was quite an undertaking, considering there were many reference books out there with incorrect info. In this book, he covered the process. The two book collection cover the history of RANKIN/BASS PRODUCTIONS very nicely! A Perfect Holiday gift set!

Purchase this book, you WON'T be sorry!I can't wait for his upcoming; Making of R/B classic- Rudolph the red nosed reindeer! I'm sure it's gonna rock! Let's hope he follows it up w/another of my ALL-TIME favorite R/B productions; Mad Monster Party! Have some HOLLY JOLLY holidays! ;-)

Summary: many photos and illustrations from the pioneers of ANIMAGIC
Review: If you loved the Rudolf T.V. special, Heat Miser, Frosty, The Hobbit, The Mad Monster Party or more recently the Thundercats, you will enjoy flipping through the pages of this book. The author has put together a collection of Arthur Rankin, Jr. and Jules Bass' work in order of when it appeared. It's all here, The T.V. Specials, The T.V. series, the feature movies, even the memorabilia. Inside info about the production, and features on the famous Voice actors are included as well. What is best about this book is the many photos and illustrations it contains. I bought this book site unseen from Amazon, and as far as I know, it is the only book of its kind. I would have liked more color photos, but all in all a great book.

Summary: The Enchanted World of Rankin and Bass
Review: In my opinion, the book is a "must have" not only for the avid Rankin and Bass fan, but as a pass along item from generation to generation. The all familiar Rankin and Bass characters have become an integral part of our American holiday protocall - both to intruduce the next generation of children to the fascinating cast of characters, and to reclaim the adults into a pleasureable nostangic safe haven. [The most widely recognized of the Rankin and Bass TV specials was probably, 'Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer' which was produced back in 1964!]

Rick Goldschmidt has successfully brought us closer to these characters through an impressive collection of photographs and narratives which could only have been authorized (if not lent) by Arthur Rankin himself, for the project.

This 'one of a kind' is a nice blend of pictures and accompanying narratives, which will keep all audiences captivated for hours. The book comes in both soft and hard cover, though I would highly recommend the latter as a keepsake (which is already becoming scarce).

Summary: It's about time!
Review: It's about time a book on one of the most memorable television teams has been published! I thought I was a big Rankin Bass fan but I had no idea of all the shows they produced until I got the book. I particularly enjoyed the stories directly from Mr. Rankin himself. It's now time for a two-hour television special based on the book! Cheers.
