Summary: Metallica's finest
Review: Strange things prompt me to buy albums (always album NEVER CD)and "Johnny get your gun" was my inspriration for buying ..And Justice for all. The deep and disturbing movie inspired "One" and I am convinced it is Metallica's best track, bar none. It is one of the few songs I can listen to over and over (Rain Song-Zep is the other). Angry and crushing from second one this is THE album to get!

Summary: 5 *'s, but barely...
Review: In, terms of songwriting and individual performances, Metallicareached their pinnacle with AJFA; Heavy metal that explores newfacets. In terms of production, however, the album leaves a bit to be desired, and consequently is very much an acquired taste. First, the good news... Bitter, angry lyrics, combined with a crushing, dry guitar blitz that remains enviable to this day, make for a listening experience not to be taken lightly, or to be forgotten. The slower, more meditative passages also blend in well, such as in "One" and "To Live is to Die". Hetfield is truly a poet, which can be appreciated by metal fans and non-fans, alike. If ever Metallica had an "art-metal" album, AJFA is certainly it. For me, the highlights are the title track, and "To Live is to Die" (RIP, C.L.B.), although I thoroughly enjoy every song on the album. Now, the not so good news... If you only listen to this album once, you may never fully appreciate it. Quite frankly, the production is nearly enough to scare away all but the heartiest of Metallica fans. While I love the upfront guitar attack, Ulrich's drum kit seems to be just as dry and upfront, which I feel doesn't suit the sound. Do I even have to mention the bass, or lack thereof? I can actually hear the bass for only a couple of moments (quieter moments). Being a bassist myself, who idolized Cliff, I felt that Jason's talent was not given, well, "justice". Overall, though, It's a great album, and perhaps Metallica's magnum opus, which I would like to think is somehow attributable to the late Cliff's fresh memory at the time. It hurts to say, but tragedy often brings out the best in an artist. Give it a chance. It'll grow on you. Trust me.

Summary: MetallicA prior to the "Black" album...
Review: Yes, ladies and gentlemen, what we have here is their very last "old-school" album before they (gasp and shudder) "sold out" to the masses. I listened to "Justice" while I was work today, and so I felt prompted to write this review...

To put it simply, this is a really good album. I mainly bought it for "One" (get the CD for this song ALONE if for no other reason), which addresses the horrific reality of being a victim of war. Then you have other tracks which cover themes like the possibility of an environmental holocaust ("Blackened"), corruption in the political and judicial systems ("...And Justice For All"), McCarthyism ("The Shortest Straw"), and freedom of speech vs. censorship ("Eye Of The Beholder"). The album also covers depression, schizophrenia and paranoia, and child abuse ("Harvester Of Sorrow", "The Frayed Ends Of Sanity", and "Dyers' Eve", respectively). This is a serious, diverse album, lyrically and thematically speaking. Combine that with fast, loud guitars (and Jaymz' commanding voice), and you have a classic right here. And believe it or not, I can here Jason's bass guitar on several occassions, but BARELY. Let's hope a gold, remastered CD is in the works, so that we can hear that bass guitar more clearly!

BTW, just because a band has "sold out" doesn't mean they're not great anymore. I have almost everything they've put out (and yes, both of the Loads ARE good, just give both of them a chance). I, for one, am glad they only made one "Justice" album. And this is it!

Summary: The Pinnacle of Heavy Metal!
Review: Bad sound quality and cheap production maybe present, but this album is a classic nonetheless! Yes, I wish you could hear the bass better, but the songs themselves are not only heavy, but very ambitious. 'One' alone is every reason to buy it. I'm glad I did not review this CD after I just got it, because it takes time to really grow on you! But when it does, you won't be able stop listening to it. Metallica rules! Out.

Summary: Great Metallica CD!
Review: Metallica is one of my favorite bands..I love them. But most of all I love this cd! It is my favorite one by them..they do some good new music, but their old music is the best. This cd is a good reflection of their past. The music and lyrics rock! It's a must have for a Metallica fan, or anyone!

Summary: A great metal CD
Review: This is the last of the typical Metallica CD's. This CD is great. The Guitar work by Kirk Hammet and the Rythm guitars by Hetfield are super fast and amazing. The songs One and Eye of the Beholder are the best. The guitar solo in Blackened is very long and amazing. The only downside of this CD is that there is not much bass. Metallica will always be the best heavy metal band in the world.

Summary: "One" of the greatest Albums ever
Review: The has got to be one of the greatest cds ever. This is like the only cd I listen strait through. Every song rocks expecially Blackened, Justice, One, TO live is to die, and eye of the beholder. Now everyone always complains about how the production is bad. The only problem is hearing the vocals but otherwise it's fine

P.S Ever notcie how the slow song is #4 Sanitarium, One, Fade to Black. And the song the album is named after is number 2. Lightning, Puppets, justice

Summary: Just damn good rock for your listening pleasure
Review: If you like the sound of the late-80's heavy metal at its best, then you will love this album...my favorite Metallica album ever! However, if you prefer the new sound that Metallica has evolved to for the 90's audience (which is most people) then you would probably like the self-titled Black Album better. This album is great and features Metallica at their loudest. One, Blackened, And Justice For All are all really good tracks.

Summary: Damaged Production
Review: This album has the most over-complicated song structures and anti-political lyrics I have ever heard. The songs are all extremely fast, and the pace never lets up - if it weren't for this fact, the album would become boring. There is some great material on this album (One, Blackened), but the production values are terrible. The guitars sound like a flock of bees humming along and I would swear that Lars only used kettle drums. The great songs are over-shadowed by this - a huge disappointment. After this release, Metallica became a less angry band and slowed things down a lot; this was Metallica's last thrash hurrah, making it worth having. Not their best, but it's in their top 3.
