Rating: Summary: Fun & Revealing! Review: As a HUGE Guiding Light fan, I am thrilled that Lorelei's diary was published. Finally I'm able to get the real story - its been frustrating not knowing about Lorelei's past! This was a fun, steamy, sexy read. Recommend to all GL fans!!
Rating: Summary: Guiding Light fans deserved more Review: As a long-time Guiding Light fan the book I wanted to see was about the 50 years that Guiding Light has been a successful television soap opera and about the wonderful characters I have come to know and love over my 30 some years of viewing--not a book about an unpopular character who was only on-screen for 6 months. Ridiculous. The Guiding Light fans deserved better for their 50th anniversary and with the show's plummeting ratings it needed the star power of Kim Zimmer, Robert Newman, Maureen Garrett, Beth Ehlers, Jerry VerDorn, Liz Keifer, Justin Deas, and Ricky Paull Goldin just to name a few if they wanted to promote the show and have the majority of fans respond. Anything less is crumbs from the GL table. They should be promoting the whole show not just one actress. I keep hearing that this is a good beach book. Huh? I read the same books at home as I read on the beach which means I want them entertaining and well written. This book fails at both. Don't waste your time or your money on this PR disaster.
Rating: Summary: Hard to put down Review: Enjoyed the book. Found it hard to put down. Thinking things may get interesting in the future on GL from reading this book.
Rating: Summary: Entertaining Review: Enjoyed this book. It was entertaining & explained alot about the Lorelei Hills character. It was hard to put down. Much prefer the Beth Raines character, but, this book let me know who & what Lorelei was all about.
Rating: Summary: VERY Disappointing book Review: I am a huge fan of Guiding Light, but this book does not live up to my expectations. Only a few details were added to what was seen on the show. Where is the emotion and romance that fans have come to expect? I bought this book hoping to read more about Lorelei's relationship with Bill Lewis and really didn't learn anything interesting about Lorelei or Beth. Not worth the money I spent!
Rating: Summary: A Fun Summer Read Review: I am a long-time Guiding Light viewer and have just finished reading Lorelei's Guiding Light: An Intimate Diary. I found it to be a very enjoyable, interesting, and sexy. It's the perfect beach read and provides plenty of insight into the Lorelei Hills character (or as we learned, personality of Beth Raines). The conclusion the show had for the storyline was, in my opinion, too fast-paced and did not provide us viewers with the closure we needed. However, this very revealing book did just that. Beth Chamberlin proves by writing this book that she is not just another pretty soap opera face, rather an intelligent, gifted writer with an honest understanding of her character. I would recommend this book to all watchers of Guiding Light with even the slightest interesting in Lorelei Hills.
Rating: Summary: An amazing effort Review: I am an aspiring writer(not yet published)and I have never seen the Guiding Light television show. I purchased this book after seeing Beth on The Early Show. I was intrigued at the idea that someone could write a novel in a week and get it published. That's almost ten thousand words a day. I was all set to pick this book apart paragraph by paragraph. Instead I was treated to an entertaining, easy read. It's not War and Peace, but I was never led to believe it was anything more than a romance novel. I enjoyed the angle of attack of writing in diary form and using the dream sequences. This is a simple, entertaining read and an amazing feat of writing for this first time author. I look forward to what she can produce with a year's worth of effort. Buy it, you'll like it!

Rating: Summary: This book is the best summer read! Review: I bought it because I'm a fan of Guiding Light and have to say it really does a great job of filling in the missing pieces of Lorelei's past that the show never really addressed. I thought the most fascinating part of the book was that, in creating the backstory for this character, Ms. Chamberlin chose to make Lorelei's past so similar to Beth Raines' past--the only difference being that Lorelei acted the way Beth wanted to and never could. It's such an interesting aspect of Beth's psyche, and I give kudos to the author for helping us understand why the character of Lorelei arose. It's a very easy read, and although I'm sure any fan of GL will find it entertaining, you don't have to watch the show to understand what's going on. At its heart, it's the story of a woman's struggle to remember her identity, and that, in itself, was very compelling.
Rating: Summary: Huge Disappointment!!! Review: I bought this book expecting to find out all the juicy details of Beth's life as Lorelei. Instead, all the book describes is a few uninteresting events, most of which we find out later was made up in the mind of the character based on partial similarities to Beth's life. For example, killing the step father and going to New York and all the happenings there. The story line on Guiding Light hints that the diary contains so much more, like a romantic connection to Bill Lewis for example. This book in my opinion is not worth your money. I bought it at the local bookstore and read it in one day, not because it was a good book, but because I wanted to keep reading to get to the good part, which unfortunately never came. I decided it wasn't worth the money and returned it the next day for a full refund.
