Rating: Summary: Five Minutes to Orgasm Review: My best friend, who is a profesor in English, absolutely swears by this book. She believes it should be required reading for all college women, but I respectfuly disagree. This book deals with the specific problem of failure to reach orgasm during intercourse except by using vibrators or requiring the partner to perform oral sex or until the man "pumps all night" until the female reaches orgasm or they both are worn out. This book is not a general purpose sex manual. It deals with one technique (with a list of variations in the last chapter) to deal with a specific problem. By taking control of their orgasms through manual stimulation and position and by using fantasies to block any thoughts that are inhibiting (worrying about the shape of her body, for example), women can master their orgasm response. My problem with this book is that I like and prefer oral sex, but Hutchins almost aggressively "encourages" women to use her technique instead of oral sex to reach orgasm. She doesn't condemn oral sex, but she suggests that men may get tired of being forced to perform oral sex so their female partner can achieve orgasm. Fortunately, my boyfriend loves oral sex and so do I, and I don't feel obliged to give it up, so we don't really need her technique. It should work for some women, fortunately there are some of us who don't need it.
Rating: Summary: This is the scoop. Review: I thought I was going to learn something here. Unfortunately, the extent of the information is this: woman on top plus self-stimulation equals orgasm. Just practice self-stimulation a lot, and you'll get the whole thing down to 5 minutes.
Rating: Summary: Down and Dirty Review: This is a book that isn't afraid to get dirty with sex. The author is knowledgeable and emphasizes the three step approach to orgasm for women. The frankness sets this book apart. It discusses the physical side of lovemaking, and doesn't apologize for being open and frank. I give it an A+.
Rating: Summary: Faster Than Five Minutes Review: My boyfriend LOVED this technique!! I was a little nervous about using it, but he fell in love with the technique, the book and D. Claire Hutchins. It worked for me, and it can work for you too, just don't be too embarassed to give it a try. The book was easy to read and presented in a fun, lighthearted way. It's not meant to be taken too seriously, but the overall tone is to get women to lighten up and enjoy sex. I've spent much of my sex life in fear and frustration, but by incorporating the principles in this book, I've been able to relieve myself (and my boyfriend) of much of the anxiety that comes with sex without (my)orgasm. I just wish someone had written this book a long time ago so I wouldn't have spent so many frustrated years. Buy this book, try the technique and practice with your lover. You'll be glad you did.
Rating: Summary: The Bachelorette Review: If you are a fan of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, you heard Trista on the first Bachelor admit that she couldn't have an orgasm during sex. Boy does she ever need this book! Trista's problem is what many women experience. They can have orgasms during masturbation, but add a man to the equation and they dry up and turn off. Coming from the Formerly Frustrated myself, I'd like to let all women know that they have a choice. D. Claire Hutchins writes how women can reach an orgasm every time they have intercourse. Men can take the passive role for a change. Having been burdened with the responsibility for the female orgasm forever (ever since women were allowed to admit that might enjoy sex), most of them can breathe a sigh of relief. Women are not that complex and there is no secret formula for orgasm. You just do what works best for you. And quit worrying what other people (including your lover) think. We've made reaching orgasm for the female such a holy grail that many women and their lovers are intimidated. Why try, when you are set up by the media, relationship books, sex experts and, sadly, other women, to fail? I encourage you to buy this book. Reaching orgasm has never been simpler.
Rating: Summary: Just The Basics Review: I found this small book to be very informative and easy to read. The technique is very useful for women who have difficulty reaching orgasm during sex. The author sprinkles a little humor throughout and there are quotes from women who've used this technique and from those who don't. This book zeros in on one problem; the author isn't trying to write an overall sex manual, and certainly not one about pleasing a man. She's more concentrated on the women, and the men who are frustrated with their sex lives because they can't "bring" their partners to orgasm. Guys can feel relieved if their partners use this technique because they don't have to carry the entire burden of a great sex life. This book also makes quickies possible for women as well as men - both participants can have an orgasm easily without all the usual romantic fanfare that often MUST accompany typical sex. Just the basics. That's what I like about this book because it is a different approach from many other sex manuals out there-dealing with a specific problem.
Rating: Summary: Finally! Review: Finally, a book that tells it like it is. This book is a terrific relief for a guy who is tired of taking all the blame just because his female partner can't have an orgasm. It had gotten to the point where I didn't even enjoy sex anymore because it took so much effort (oral sex, what seemed like hours of thrusting, etc.) to get my girlfriend off. This book is easy to understand, simple, and easy to use and put into practice. It's made the sex act a lot more fun for my girl AND for me. Finally we've found something that works!
Rating: Summary: Not impressed Review: This book was not at all beneficial to me. It mostly works on you pleasing yourself by yourself and not with a partner.
Rating: Summary: First Time Review: This is the first book review I have ever written, but I was partially encouraged by the occasional negative review about this book that I think is so good. We all have different tastes and needs, I suppose, but this book was helpful to me in many ways. It's a way of looking and practicing to achieve orgasm that hadn't occurred to me. More and more research indicates that woman are, in fact, capable of much more in the way of sexual response than before suspected. Let's move out of the dark ages and enjoy a fuller sex life and identity!
Rating: Summary: Simple and Easy Review: I found this book to be as promised: simple, fast and fun. It deals with the issue forthrightly and should help women who have trouble reaching orgasm during sex, if they are not afraid to try something a little different. I recommend it.
