Summary: Much hype, little snipe
Review: I was a USMC Scout Sniper who worked the same area as Hathcock during the same time period and I am embarassed that anyone would take this book seriously. The long list of situation reports Henderson stuck in the back of this book are single person accounts by Hathcock himself. Where's the eyewitness confirmation? This book is a looser!!!

Summary: carlos , our friend and hero
Review: Having known Carlos and Jo Hathcock for a few years, we know what a sincere , humble man he is. He deserves all the recognition he can get,,(are you listening,, Steven Spielberg?), and this book is one way to appreciate a part of the war that not many care to recognize. Not all the heros were in the front, the marine sniper and his partner fought a very brave solitary battle. Our friend Carlos will be a hero in our lives, and will always know we will do whatever we can to keep his story alive. Carlos and Jo know they have a special place in our hearts, and have been a true inspiration in our lives. There are autographed books and other related items available,, you can e-mail us w/ inquiries... thank you for the oportunity to allow us to express our admiration for this selfless , great hero. We love you Carlos and Jo.

Summary: Very Very awesome!!!!
Review: This book held my attention from the start and I finished it off within a day. The way the sniper program was started and then later "sold" to the Marines was very interesting. And the details of Hatchcock's "hunts" just rule. The idea that any one man would be able to do what he did is pretty much unthinkable. I would recommend this book to anyone, even those who have no interest in Vietnam.

Summary: It was awesome and the descriptions and graphics were great
Review: This was a wonderful book and very exciting. The graphics were very descriptive. Burke was a hero in how he died. I would love to shake. Hathcocks, Lands, and the authors hand on this book.It was wonderful.

Summary: Great book about life as a Marine sniper
Review: I have read this book 3X, and am always glued to the page. Carlos is a tremendous American serving his country as a sniper and instructor. The book gives good details in the VietNam episode wherein the Marine snipers proved to be a valuable asset to military tactics. Carlos is/was an extremely capable marksman.

Summary: Awesome
Review: I loved it. I rarely reread a book. I read this one three times. Gysgt. Hathcock is one awesome Marine. This should be made in to a movie!!!!

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Poorly written, lost interest in a couple of chapters
Review: I don't know why so many rave about this book. I found it dull and written more like a fiction book than anything else. I found it laughable in parts specifically where the author goes into the head of the enemy sniper and tells us what he's thinking. Blah. This book stinks.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Very realistic, relates the sacrifices endured by snipers.
Review: This book provides a realistic view of the sniper's world as it began to evolve as a recognized role within the U.S. Marine Corp.

The personal endurance, physical and mental restraint exhibited by this man prove that the body and mind can become one instrument together in the pursuit of a single objective.

This country owes Mr. Hathcock a debt of gratitude for his valiant services performed and the permanant physical injuries he suffered in the completion of his duties.

Summary: Best sniper book I've ever read.
Review: Although I was not a Marine, but US Army Infantry, this book truly tells of the conditions we all had to endure while serving our tour of duty in Vietnam. Carlos Hathcock, probably endured more torturous conditions while getting into position, (which could take DAYS) for the one shot, one kill. Overall, once you start reading this book, you can not put it down! Cover to cover, TRULY VIETNAM!

Rating: 5 stars
