Rating: Summary: THE BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ!! Review: I'm a reader from Spain that simply felt in love with Diana's books just in the first chapter of "Outlander". After that, I just need to read the others 3 books of the Outlandish serie and are as good as the first one. I have read them in Spanish but, like american readers, I couldn't stop reading. I remenber specially one night that I was reading ALL NIGHT LONG and I wasn't tired, I swear you. Diana's books touched me so deeply that next month I will go to Scotland to know this wonderful land by mysef. I usually read historical novels but I can assure you that this book has everything you want not only history. It's simply the best I've ever read. I can't wait for the next one!
Rating: Summary: GREAT SUMMER READ! Review: I just finished the last (published to date) book in the series. Prior to this, I had never read a romance-type novel. Theme is married woman transported back in time 200+ years, suffers the indignities that a woman of that period with little position would; meets (and marries) Young Studly Mr. Perfect and fights alongside him, meets villan who looks strangely familiar; makes love every other scene (sometimes twice), gets involved in Scots Clan stuff, ends up playing doctor alot, meets a few interesting characters (some of which may be from another time, too) and ends up jumping back and forth in time (in the series). Don't know if this is typical romance/time-travel fiction, but this is worth getting comfortable to start reading as you will not want to put the book down. I Recommended it to my rather toney reading group. Hope they all enjoy OUTLANDER as much as I did many months ago!
Rating: Summary: This is a great story. Review: I was with my Mom during the last three months of her life, holding her hand as she died, and was so very sad. I walked into the San Francisco Main Public Library and thought," For God's sake and for my own sake, would one of you books shout out to me and take my mind off this terrible grief, even for a little while." I walked over to the shelf and found all four books in this series and checked them out. Since my family is half Scottish, I felt that I had gone home and visited with all the lovely people in my family, long gone,I never thought I'd meet. Sometimes a person needs to just get away for a while to heal, and this humdinger of a story is just what I needed to do that. Hello to all the other people who have written reviews of this series. I wish I knew you. I seem to be needing some kindred spirits right about now. Maybe you can wave to me in your mind's eye. Cheers!!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: I am not a romance reader. In fact, I was quite embarassed to have pulled this novel out of the romance section. I only bought it because my reading group suggested it - and I needed a book.I am so glad I bought Outlander. It took me 5 tries just to start the book. I picked it up and put it down over and over. One night, Outlander called to me. I finished all 600 pages in a little less than 2 days. I either loved or hated the characters. I never knew who to trust or who to believe. Jamie is a true sweetheart. I love this book!
Rating: Summary: What a Writer! Review: Diana Gabaldon's writing is simply genius! I first read Outlander on a whim and ended up staying up until 5:00 in the morning just to finish it! Four years later I have the first four books in the series and they're all taped up along the edges from my having read them over and over again! This girl is desperately waiting for the next book in the series to come out! Kudos to Ms. Gabaldon for her ability to weave historical events, adventure, romance, and her own creativity into a thouroughly satisfying story!
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down!!!! Review: Wow what a book!! From the moment Claire touched that stone in Scotland to Claire and Jamie standing together pondering their future I could not put it down. Like so many other readers I stayed up all hours to finish it, which only took 5 days. Besides being a great romance it is also a great historical novel. You can tell that Diana Gabaldon did her research. Her descriptions of the people of Scotland at that time are wonderful. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance, just be careful you lose alot of sleep finding out what happens to these great characters.
Rating: Summary: ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL....!!!!!!!!!! Review: I had been reading other time travel books, and was looking for others, when I came across Diana Gabaldon... I tried "Outlander" and I was hooked... It was the best... I just finished "Dragon fly in Amber" the other day, I couldn't put it down... I just had to read the other two.. So I bought the whole set... I am reading "Voyager" now, and the story just keeps getting better and better.. I can't wait for the stories to continue.. Three cheers for Diana Gabaldon... She is a wonderful writer... It's worth staying up till 3a.m. to learn what will happen to Claire and Jamie....
Rating: Summary: An absolute MUST READ!!! Review: This is by far, my favorite series ever! As I read Outlander, I totaly fell in love with Jamie Frazier. What a guy!! He's tall, muscular, handsome, rugged, and that red hair! Claire is a great herione in that she is always in control of her destiny. She challenges Jamie at every turn. We should all have a romance like theirs! These books have it all: time travel, romance, murder, witchcraft, war, famine, etc, ect. Way to go Diana! I'm eagerly waiting for number 5!!
Rating: Summary: This book sizzels. Litteraly Review: this book was one of the best i have ever read. It had a perfect mixture of romance, adventure, and suspence. this is one of my first time travel romances and it will be hard to live up to this one.
Rating: Summary: One of the most romantic, magical books I ever read! Review: I received this book as a gift from a co-worker. I found it a little bit hard to get into at first and I almost gave up reading it. But then I was sucked into the storyline! Diana Gabaldon is a wonderful storyteller and brings her characters to life through her attention to historical detail and writing style. I was left wanting more and sad that the story was over....fortunately, there are three more in the series!
