Summary: Lukewarm.
Review: I am very openminded to any author, especially one as talented and versatile as Jude Deveraux. I have read many of her stories over the years, and I have enjoyed them all very much. I, too, am a fan of the prolific Montgomerys and their cousins the Taggerts. It is always a joy to read about any member of the family.

With that in mind, I was hoping that Forever would continue the tradition of smooth storytelling that JD is famous for. Alas, I was disappointed. This story is lukewarm, at best. The first chapters are outstanding. You are drawn into the story of a woman who becomes consumed with power from the possession of the legendary Nostradamus' mirror and the prophecy of the blond, blue-eyed waif who would be her destruction. Then, you meet the skinny down on her luck girl Darci, who possesses a power that's even stronger than she could imagine. I found it hard to identify with Darci. She is portrayed as the stereotypical poor white trash, and I had a hard time believing she possessed such a gift or could attract the eye of a Montgomery. Don't get me wrong-I liked Darci, but I kept wanting to wrap a blanket around her and protect her. She was just too fragile as a heroine.

Of course, Adam Montgomery is rich, sexy, and handsome. I wouldn't have expected him any other way. And, what makes Adam so intriguing is that he's hiding some weighty secrets.

I like the way the stories and lives of the characters are interwoven together. That is the one element of this story that actually works. I never believed, though, that the sexual attraction was there between Adam and Darci. I can't even get a mental picture (or at least not a flattering one). And, I think the subplot of witchcraft and the mirror were superb-except for the fact that the story got choppy toward the middle and end. I felt let down with the way the story ended. I really expected more.

All in all, this book only generated a lukewarm response from me. I wanted more, and I feel let down.

Summary: What happened to the old Jude Deveraux???
Review: I loved her earlier books. Her last severval offerings seem to be written by a different person. I had held out hope for this one because she returns to the Montgomery family, but it falls way short. I had to struggle to finish. I didn't care how it ended. I have given up hope that any future offerings will be better. I won't buy another.

Summary: Very Different
Review: I loved this book. It is different than most books I read. Jude Deveraux takes you on an exciting adventure. If you are wanting to get carried away you will love this book.

Summary: Never again!
Review: I am a big Jude Deveraux fan. I loved her earlier work - the Velvet Saga was awesome, the Princess was hilarious and Sweet Liar a treasure. I have to say that I'm getting more and more disappointed in her new work. I can't say I enjoyed this book at all - it was confusing and very dark, but I don't think that's how it was intended. There is no real spark or connection between any of the characters and that just makes it disturbing to read. I recommend you borrow this at your local library and save yourself the money.

Summary: Another wonderful lovestory from Jude
Review: I love all of Jude Deveraux' novels. I have read all of them except the one that I plan to purchase tonight! Her stories always leave you with a warm "all is right with the world" feeling, and this one is no different. There is just enough magic to add spice but not enough to damage the book's "believablity". We can all relate to some aspect of her heroines and we all find her heros absolutely "delicious". Her characters all have very realistic characteristics and just the right mix of humor. Love it Jude!... Keep writing and I'll keep reading. These novels are a wonderful escape vehicle.

Summary: What Happened!
Review: I have followed Jude Devereaux since her first Highlander Series and always looked forward to her new releases. But as she has gotten more mainstream, she has gotten away from that which first brought her to my attention. Romance! This book, although for the most part well written, lacks in depth romance. At the most this book has 10% romance, all at the end and rated G at that. What happened to those alpha males she wrote so well!

Summary: Deveraux's attempt at the suspense/horror genre was mediocre
Review: Don't get me wrong, I love and own EVERY Jude Deveraux book, but this departure from historical/modern day romance felt awkward & thrown together.

The heroine, Darci T. Monroe, wasn't very believable and the hero, Adam Montgomery, lacked depth. Parts of the book didn't seem to be well thought-out, which was disappointing.

The highlights of this book were scenes where the famous Montgomery money was used in fabulous shopping/makeover scenes...

My recommendation is to buy "Summerhouse" instead. It is classic Deveraux that is beautifully written with characters people can identify with.

Summary: Fantastic read!!!
Review: I love all Jude Deveraux books and this doesn't leave the reader wanting. Just when your tried of the same old stories she comes up with something totally original.
This is a Montgomery story but unlike all Taggert and Montgomery Adam the "hero" is not raised with the perfect family he suffers and not something normal like being broke or unloving parent. He loses his parents in a very mysterious therefore he grows up to be a very secretive person. Until he meets Darcy.
She's great eventhough her life has been anytihng but perfect she is still very nice and optimistic person with a great sense of humor. When she is hired by Montgomery she starts learning things about herself that she never dreamed possible . These two have a great adventure together. If your lookingfor a book with sex scenes in it this one not for you but if your into a good story I strongly recommend this one.

Summary: combination romance, horror, and a touch of fantasy
Review: The vague ad never explained the job, but offered a 100K so the lines of females stretched for blocks seeming more like a wait for tickets for a Harry Potter book. Among the tired attendees is Darci Monroe, a waif from Putnam, Kentucky. At her interview, the employer Adam Montgomery immediately eliminates Darci as a hillbilly who cannot help him with his paranormal problem. However, after Darci departs, Adam's consultant Helen says, "she is the one".

Adam grievously recalls that as a toddler, a malevolent individual killed his parents and kidnapped him, but before murdering his mother waited until she gave birth to his sister capable of using Nostradamus' mirror. Adam and especially Helen believe that Darci with her "True Persuasion" mental skills to persuade people to behave in a manner she deems suitable will unlock the past. However, as they work together, they begin to fall in love, Adam has begun to comprehend Darci's skills and wonders if she has employed her "True Persuasion" to make him want to cherish her in the way Kim Novak does to James Stewart in Bell, Book, and Candle.

FOREVER is a combination romance, horror, and a touch of fantasy that cleverly blends together into a strong novel that readers from all three genres will enjoy. The story line contains humor to ease some of the tension. However, what will amaze the audience is how Jude Deveraux uses the same device to either cleverly amuse or frighten the reader such as "True Persuasion". The charming country hick and the desperate big city hunk will beguile fans with this entertaining, fast-paced return to the Montgomery brood.

Summary: Deveraux does Supernatural just in time for Halloween!!
Review: Since Amazon for some reason or another has no plot description for this book. I will recite what is on the back of my copy.

DESCRIPTION:
Darci Monroe overcame a childhood of neglect with an ebullient spirit, a positive attitude...and extraordinary determination. Now the resourceful young woman, hired as Adam Montgomery's personal assistant, devotes more than just professional attention to this devastatingly handsome millionaire. But one thing bars Adam from accepting Darci's love: he is intent on discovering the secret of his parent's dissapearence, for she possesses the otherwordly abilities needed to help him fight a terrifying mistress of the dark arts. What Darci ends up offering is a gift greater than Adam ever hoped for, for Darci loves with all her heart, and all her soul, forever...

MY REVIEW:
Had me from the first page. Adam is a Montgomery, and to those of us that are fans of Ms. Deveraux books we are well acquainted with the power and appeal of this family name. Darci is quirky, has a sense of humor and at times reminded me of a Garwood heroine. There is some supernatural hocus pocus in this tale, the growth of a love between 2 people that were meant to be together and a reconcilation of more than 1 family.

Deveraux has a nack of pulling all things together that I appreciate, there are times in this book that I was getting frustrated about Darci's "True Persuasion" but by the end of the book the explanation made sense. For those of us that love seeing the Montgomery clan in action.... have no fear Ms. Deveraux brings in a bit of it in this book, with a mention here and there of the "Taggerts" as well. Overall I enjoyed this book and could not put it down it did not slow down but actually picked up. Darci had a "odd" childhood she lives with relatives that pretty much do not want her around. Her mother is a non-existant person in this book and you get the idea that Darci's relationship with her mother is not a good one. Adam lost his family at a early age and is search for what happened to them.

When the book begins I suggest you take close attention to the story that is being told because it holds great relevance to the latter part of this book. All in all this book was a fast read. If you like this review I suggest you check out some of my other reviews I happen to enjoy Ms. Deveraux writing and recommend that the reader read take a look at some of her earlier books that explains the beginning of this Montgomery Clan. However, this book is on it's own and not a part of a series or trilogy, so as I recommend it it is not a must.
