Rating: Summary: Great summer book! Review: anyone who has moved, or whos best friend has, will marvel at how true Megan McCafferty makes the seperation of Jess Darling and Hope Weaver. the ensuing year in Jess's life is a roller-coaster of emotion, self arguing, and, of course, boys. this book captures the emotions that most girls will only reveal in their journals- exactly why the journal format McCafferty chooses is so appropriate. although i can see why anyone looking for a heavy read, especially adults, will only find this book decent, i believe that it is the quintessential summer reading book! its got passion and zest without being too far-fetched, and it allows you to laugh! i promise you, you will laugh out loud with Jess, especially the way McCafferty expresses her inner monologues! the plot also leaves you hooked- and the sequel delivers all that the first book promises and more! Sloppy Firsts is an amazing first novel from a talented and promising author!
Rating: Summary: Like Reading Your Own Diary Review: Reading Sloppy Firsts was like reading my own diary. Jessica Darling has given us wit, humor, and insight into REAL teenage life throughout the story, which keeps you turning those pages until the book is over, and leaves you wanting more. This book is a must read for anyone who enjoys teen realistic fiction!
Rating: Summary: A Really Enjoyable Book! Review: This book is really fun to read no matter what age you are. Jessica is having a hard time in dealing with the fact that her best friend moved away. And then ofcourse she has to deal with the the normal things that come along with the teenage years:peer pressure, boys, friends that she really doesn't like and other things. This book was just so fun to read you'll find yourself laughing out loud at times. Its definitely a book that you'll be able to relate to.
Rating: Summary: ~ Really Awesome Book...... Read It!! ~ Review: This book was one of the best books I have ever read. It bumped off all of my previous favourite books! It's about Jessica Darling, an awesome angst-ridden teen living in a world where no one understands her.... except Hope. Of course with Jessica's luck Hope moves away. She is stuck in a small town world full of superficial people... including her 3 "friends", the clueless crew she calls them. This book is about her life and relationships and struggles with her inner self. It truly relates to everyday teens. (being one myself I know this) Then Jessica meets Marcus. A misunderstood outcast who has in the past turned to drugs for amusement because he was so smart he was bored. Jessica comes to know Marcus and she writes about her adventures/experiences they have together. I don't want to ruin the book for you, but it is truly and awesome book. Don't waste time BUY IT NOW!! I'm kind of mad because I live in a small town (as does Jessica) so I'm unable to find "Second Helpings" anywhere around here! (oh and I totally got why Marcus wore the BSB shirt...)This book is laugh out loud funny so expect some weird looks! Looking forward to Second Helpings!! ~Buy This Book NOW~
Rating: Summary: The Best Book For All Ages Review: This is the best book i have ever read. my reading material usually consists of us weekly and people magazines so i was so pysched to find a book that i actually enjoyed from cover to cover. it is such a good book that everyone should read. Ms. mccafferty does an amazing job relating this book to someone in their teens or 30's. if you are bored and looking to find something intereseting to read, read this book followed by the second, a second helping. you will not be disappointed. i could not put these books down and felt like such a book worm. so my advice read the book and just enjoy a few hours of laughter and irony that is easily relatable to any woman.
Rating: Summary: Amazing book.. Review: This book actually portrays teenage girls in an intelligent, witty way. Jessica Darling, the protagonist, is such a likeable character, most can easily relate to her. Marcus Flutie..he's my dreamboat, lol. :) Amazing book, you must read all of McCafferty's novels, they are excellent.
Rating: Summary: no disappointments Review: I loved Sloppy Firsts by Megan McCafferty. Browsing in a book store a few months ago, the cover caught my eye, i read a few pages, and i knew i was going to love it. I've read it over and over, recommended it to my friends and gushed about it to my family. It totally relates to what i'm going through in my life right now, and when it doesn't, it's a fabulous source of entertainment! i sat around and waited for Megan McCafferty's sequel to come out, and now that it finally has, i'm ecstatic! Go out and buy it - you won't be disappointed!
Rating: Summary: Light, fun read Review: I really enjoyed this book. At 298 pages I thought it was going to be easy to read, but it actually took me a while. This book had a nice plot line and it will make you laugh a lot. Although there are parts that are confusing it is generally well written. It is a good book for a rainy weekend when you're just plain bored.
Rating: Summary: A great mix of Adult Style with Realistic Teendom :) Review: Megan McCafferty's novel about 16 year old Jessica Darling is one just about every girl can relate to in some way. From the dreams of finding that rare true guy friend (been there!), to the agony of not living up to your parents expectations (yep), unrequited love and unwanted love (yessum), to losing and finding your friends (for sure), this book covers a lot of topics that are just downright normal...but are made incredibly interesting through a variety of humorous situations and intelligent narration by Jessica via her personal journal. McCafferty's book doesn't after-school special teenage-hood, or make it uber boring, or super unbelievable, instead it makes you find the qualities most angsty teenagers have in themselves that relate to Jessica Darling, and draws you in as you look at your own experiences and compare them to Jessica's. (I'm 17 so I can definately relate!). A great effort, I can't wait to read the second book!
Rating: Summary: Jessica Darling: My Hero Review: This is the best book, hands down, for any teen girl anywhere. Everyone can relate to this book some how, some way. Jessicas is a normal everyday teen with some slighty out of wack problems, but she grows on you. A book all should read.
