Rating: Summary: typical teen drama Review: gave an accurate portrayal of the life of many teenage girls.. packed with drama!
Rating: Summary: A trip down memory lane....to High School! Review: I give Sloppy Firsts five stars. A histarically, lovable character tells it like it is. Jessica Darling is truely living the life most people do in high school. But she talks about it. We all know it's true. From hoochies to jocks. From braniacs, to druggies. We knew them and so does she. This book is not only funny, but you may just shed a tear. So many people can relate to this book. Once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down. You're going to be on the edge of your seat with every page waiting to see what her next move is. There is a little bit of something for everyone in here. And I promise... you won't be disappointed. After you read both Sloppy Firsts and Second Helpings, you (such as I was) will be begging for more of Jessica and the rest of the Pineville High gang. Thanks Megan!
Rating: Summary: BUY THIS BOOK Review: This is the most amazing and interesting book I have ever read. Being a teenager, I know I have alot of feelings that I can't understand, and I feel alone. Reading this book made me realize that I'm not the only one who thinks the things I do, and feels the way I do. Jessica Darling's journal is so un-sugar coated and shockingly real, that you'd think you were reading your own diary. Her witty comments make me laugh, and her troubles with Marcus and her other fligs make me cry. This book is the perfect example of an average life of a teenager...only Jessica isnt afraid to keep anything from her journal, so you know exactly what is running through her head. By the time you finish this book, you feel as if Jessica is one of your closest friends. You also develop a crush on Marcus, the most perfect un-perfect nonexistant guys in the world. =P
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down! Review: After reading so many great things about Sloppy Firsts, I knew I had to read it. I had seen it before at my library, but it just didn't appeal to me. Knowing that the book and its sequel were doing so well made me curious, however, and yesterday my mom brought home Sloppy Firsts for me. Once I started reading it, I was hooked! The book just drew me in. Suddenly I wanted to know everything about Jessica Darling and her relationships with The Clueless Crew, best friend Hope, new girl Hy, and the "dreg" boy Marcus. You know a book is good when you start feeling things for the main character; by the time I was about halfway through, I knew what I wanted to happen to Jess. Unfortunately, what I wanted to happen didn't always happen for her, and when they didn't, I was just as crushed as Jess was. Sloppy Firsts didn't always feel like real high school life to me, but I was drawn in by the voice of Jessica - endearing, hopeful, confused, and truthful - and I loved every second of the book. I hated to reach the last page! Rave reviews from this reader. I cannot say enough good things about Sloppy Firsts!
Rating: Summary: 100% Pure Teen Angst Review: I just finished reading Sloppy Firsts, and all I can say is FINALLY!!! Finally someone has created the novel equivalent of all those great 80's John Hughes flicks. As with those movies, you definitely don't need to be a teenager to enjoy Jessica Darling's witty observations on life at Pineville High. At times, Jessica's sour moods and self-pity began to wear on my nerves, but her sarcastic, sassy sense of humor won me over in the end. I highly recommend Sloppy Firsts to anyone, but be warned--there is some bad language, so you may want keep this one away from the younger teens.
Rating: Summary: Amazing True! Review: This book is so completly true. It is how every girl thinks, but never has the guts to say. Any one would love reading this book, and as you go along you relate people in the book to people you really know. There is never a dull moment , and you could seriously sit there and read the entire thing in one sitting.
Rating: Summary: Not the greatest. Review: I bought this book, hoping for a great read. But I was extremely disappointed. The book wasn't good at all. I couldn't believe all the cussing I was reading. The main character had friends that would say "like" all the time. There was too much high school drama that nobody wants to remember; this is one trip down memory lane I recommend not taking. I won't be reading the second book.
Rating: Summary: The Best of the Best Review: Sloppy Firsts and Second Helpings are the best books I ever read in my entire life. I have loved to read ever since I loved how and honestly, its the best. I would reccommend it for someone 14 and older, like me. I have read lots of YA books and these books were in the adult section of the library (which i kind of disagree with, since she is still a teenager.) I also reccommend Feeling Sorry For Celia in addition to this book
Rating: Summary: A great anytime read!! Review: This book just reminds you of high school. Such a fun book!!
Rating: Summary: awesome book Review: This book truly touches what the life of a teenage girl is like. It will make you cry laugh and find yourself comparing it to your own life. I suggest it to teenage girls looking for a book that relates to their life. It turned out to be one of my favorite books!
