Rating: Summary: It was amazingly ironic Review: It was an amazing book filled with irony. Following Jess through her senior year a new boyfriend and her obsession with Marcus. Megan had also brought back characters from the first book that you didnt expect to see again like Paul and Hy. I will recomend this book to anyone who read the first or to any one for that matter
Rating: Summary: The Perfect Sequel Review: After waiting a year for the sequel to the amazing book Sloppy Firsts, I never thought that Second Helpings would live up to my expectations. But it did, in fact, it exceeded them. I loved every page just as much. It was every bit as good as Sloppy Firsts, with added characters and situations to make it unique. The dialouge, commentary, and pacing remained just as perfect. Rarely is a sequel written that is just as good as the first book, but Second Helpings is one of the rare exceptions.
Rating: Summary: Undeniable Brilliance Review: I just purchased Second Helpings three days ago, and I've already read it twice. This beautiful, melancholy account of Jessica Darling's senior year at Pineville High School is done fantastically. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is currently slogging through high school and to anyone who remembers how it was. The novel is funny, insightful, and altogether perfect.
Rating: Summary: Just as Good as the First Review: Sequels so often are a disappointment. This one is not! Jessica continues to be the witty, compulsive girl we love and her life has become no less complicated - and certainly no less complicated than my own. Does McCafferty give in to the ease of some stereotyping? Well, yes. But I know plenty of people just like the book characters. The events of Jessica's life, as well as the people who populate it, are quite realistic and portrayed with plenty of skill and humor by the author.
Rating: Summary: Pining for Pinevilles hottest hottie Review: I have just finished this book about 20 minutes ago, so honestly i'm so hyped I probably shouldn't be writing this. I honestly LOVED this book!!! My room mate thinks I'm crazy because of how excited I got every five minutes when I read something new. And of course she knows Marcus by name since I told her how amazing he is. But the best part of this book has to be Jessica who is every girl and says everything you wish you had the guts to say. From her hysterical observations of the high school hierarchy, to the blundering mess she makes on her road to deviginization Jessica Darling is one of the best and most realistic characters that I have ever read about.
Rating: Summary: Second Helpings Was AMAZING Review: Prior to reading "Second Helpings", I read "Sloppy Firsts". Both books were amazing. Being a teenager I must say I related to this book so well...I felt quite similar to Jessica Darling the heroine of this novel. Megan McCafferty did a wonderful job writing these novels...however, "Second Helpings" was so much better. It really made the reader feel what Jessica felt and see things from Jessica's point of view...this actually has a bit of potential to be made into a movie. I do however reccomend that if one is going to read "Second Helpings", that they read "Sloppy Firsts" so they can fully experience the roller coaster ride that is Jessica Darlings teenage-hood. Being that the author originally worked within the magazine industry, she could relate several things she'd seen with teens while writing these two books. They are inspirational to me. Thank you so much Megan McCafferty for being such a great writer and for writing me two favorite books!!! Alexandra
Rating: Summary: go read it NOW Review: wow, that book is possibly even better than its prequel (which left some BIG shoes). it started out a little slow, with perhaps too much rehashing from 'sloppy firsts' to make sure everyone remembers where we left off. as if it's even necessary. at this point we all can probably quote from the book better than mccafferty herself. i know i probably could. but then it just got better. and better. and better until i had no choice but to finish it all in one sitting and get up this morning with panda eyes from having had only about 3 hrs of sleep. megan mccafferty you are a genius. so, really, how good is this book? it's palm-slid-slap-behid-the-back-finger-snap-chest thump-soul-brother-number-one kinda good. so stop reading this review and go read the book before you seriously miss out.
Rating: Summary: Second Helpings-a great treat Review: I adored sloppy firsts and found myself reading it over and over again. i know i will do the same thing with Second helpings. Jessica is a senior and her adventures are even more interesting, fun, embarassing, and everything in between. I am a sucker for sappy, predictable endings, like the one in second helpings. The book was so interesting, that i could not put it down for one minute. The ending was predictable and very unrealistic, but thats the way i like them-as most people do. i had a great time reading it. sloppy firsts and second helpings portray such real feelings and Megan McCafferty makes it easy to relate to jessica. reasing these books make me feel like my social problems arent that bad. i praise sloppy firsts, second helpings, and especially megan mccafferty.

Rating: Summary: The BEST teen angst-highschool-teen romance-book in years Review: I read the first book and thought it was good but this book was ten times better! I related to Jessica in so many ways that I can't count them all! I have never read book that summed up high school in such a way that leaves you thinking...."WOW, I'm glad someone has finally said it!" I recommed this book to all high school girls especially those who are seniors and are conteplating all this time what exactly high school was for? Please read this book you won't regret it!
