Summary: I can finally say his name!
Review: You simply must read Sloppy First if you are going to ever understand why Jessica Darling can finally refer to Marcus Flute by his name instead of He Who Shall Remain Nameless. Travel with Jessica, Marcus, Len, Bridget, Mandy and Scott through one of the most honest books about the growth from a child into a young adult as they all discover that things can be so much better with a "Second Helping". Megan McCafferty has a way with words that makes you wake up and say where was I and when did I fall asleep? Run out and grab a copy for yourself, curl up and enjoy the ride!

Summary: Wow
Review: Probably the best book sequel I've ever read. It matches the first one with originality and style and doesn't lean too much on the first book for a storyline, but still manages to tie up all loose ends. A great, great read.

Summary: Awesome teen book
Review: I thought that this book was great. At first when I was reading this book I thought that it was going to be about some nerdy high school girl. I kept reading it and it was great.

This desbribed her high school rebellion period perfectly. Along with the way that it desbribed her first experiences and emotions were perfectly in tuned with any young person. I didn't read the first one, but I still understood it well. The characters in it were great and all went together well. Megan McCafferty is a great writer.

Summary: A Winner All the Way!
Review:
SECOND HELPINGS picks up the story at the beginning of the following school year, at which point Jessica and Marcus haven't talked since New Year's Eve. Almost against her will, Marcus is slowly dragged back into her life. At first, Marcus tries to get his best friend to go out with Jessica and he succeeds in doing so. In truth, he's in love with Jessica, and only wants her to be happy. It takes Jessica most of the story to realize what Marcus feels, what she herself feels and the reality of things around her.

SECOND HELPINGS is a story of realization, friendship and growing up. Aided by a childhood friend (and onetime Clueless Crew member) and another friend, Jessica dusts herself off after a heartbreak and pushes forward. A scene where she's told how Marcus feels about her is one of the best in the book. Marcus might be the best character in the book, being that he's always highly intelligent yet not always in control. Megan McCafferty shows us two characters who are both head and shoulders above their peers intellectually, but also both in need of friendship (namely each other's). No matter how intelligent Marcus is, he's almost unable to make Jessica warm up to him. Regardless of how vulnerable Jessica feels, she won't let Marcus inside, possibly out of fear for his motivations, intentions and past.

Subplots in the story include Jessica's search for a college to attend, her struggles with the track team, the ongoing gossip trail of her friends (most of them from Sloppy Firsts), meeting up with her old crush, and her family. All roads lead to growing up, and each subplot is a part of that. It's a tightly woven story and while it's significantly longer than Sloppy Firsts, the two stories merge together well, and there's realistic character development. In short, it's a fine novel and improves upon SLOPPY FIRSTS. Recommended! I also agree with the other reviewer who recommended THE LOSERS' CLUB by Richard Perez, another book I loved!

Summary: A sequel to remember
Review: Megan Mccafferty does it again with her sequel to Sloppy firsts. Second Helpings bring Jessica Darling back to our eyes as a growing adolescent entering her senior year in high school. This novel is fantastic and has a great ending! Mccafferty has a bunch of new suprises and old characters that certainly astonish the readers. Of course Marcus Flutie is back but with a new spunk. The sequel has a bit more personality to it as well as humor and has the ability to get the reader to keep reading and never stop. I feel that anyone who reads this novel will thouroughly enjoy since readers will be able to relate to it some way or another...=)

Summary: The best book ever sequel to the best book ever!
Review: I cried and laughed over the first book, Sloppy Firsts. Immediately after reading the first one I went out and got Sloppy Firsts the day after. It's a continuation into her senior and is even more hilarious and ironic to the first one. I cried more and laughed more and just had to make all my friends read both books.
Jessica is struggling with normal high school things like teachers and now she has to choose a college. Of course, what kind of sequel would it be if Marcus Flutie didn't come back in the hilarious way he did. In addition to Marcus being back Jess ends up going out with Len Levy.
I gave this book a 5 because it made me read. I read for an hour after a bought it, watched a movie and ate dinner. Then I read from 9pm to 12am. I tried to go to sleep, but I couldn't. I ended up reading until 4:30am. If you loved the first book you will definetly need this one. I called Sloppy Firsts the best book ever. I thought I could never find a better book that kept me thinking afterwards. This is the only book for me that has topped it. It's the best book ever sequel to the best book ever.
-The downside to reading the best book ever sequel is that now it's hard to settle for anything less.

Summary: Second Helpings: The BEST Novel
Review: At first, I thought stories about teen angst were stupid. Boring and infantile ways to express ones wish to be young again. But a friend of mine invited me over, and her bookshelf was crammed with them. I am attracted to flashy covers, and Sloppy Firsts and Second Helpings were no exceptions. She lent them to me, of course, I can be very persuasive. I was immediatly drawn. I must have skipped lunch maybe 5 or 6 times to sit in the library and listen to Jessica. Miss "Notso" Darling, as her father calls her, is truly living miserably. A track obsessed parent, A Cosmo obsessed parent, superficial sister and spouse, and Marcus "Krispy Kreme" Flutie playing mind games (She is very upset that he is the only guy she's ever liked who isn't gay or a flake)...oh, I devoured this book. When Jessica talks about Marcus (He Who Must Not Be Named) and her best friend Hope, she instills a sort of personality seperate to their own. Basically, she falls for Marcus, and must endure teenage hormones for the better of her senior year before relenting, misses Hope more and more, realizes life is not all about her, accepts her parents, and at the same time suffers from Insomia. Where oh where is Advil when you need it?

Summary: One of the best books
Review: second helpings is one of the best books i have every read. i couldn't but it down untill i finished. i recomend you read the first book sloppy firsts before reading this so you know what is happeneing but second helpings is much better in my opinion. It is about this girl and she wants to forget everything bad that happened to her but she can then she keeps going back. i can't wait for the 3rd one to come. i would definatly recomend this to most teen girls, especially if you love those girly, romancy novels.

Summary: A fun read
Review: This book was as good as the first (Sloppy Firsts). In fact, this one is almost twice as thick as the first one, which is a plus because it means more time to enjoy the book! Second Helping is the continuation of the story of Jessica and Marcus. My advice: do not read this book if you have not read the first one because the ending will not be as delicious if you do. Definitely go buy this book and Sloppy Firsts.
