Summary: Wow blow my mind
Review: I bought this book after reding sloppy firsts and thinking it was an okay read but yesterday when I finally got the book I literally stayed up until four am reading it straight through. Second Helpings far out does the first book I can't explain how involoved you feel as soon as you pick it up. I was torchered and touched by every word I felt Jess's pain and want and happiness with every page I turned. The one flaw in the book is miniscule to say the least and I will not bother to point it out in case its stops any human from buying this book. I'm not the kind of person to rave that this is the best book I've ever read...blah blah blah... frankly because you can't compare any two books but I must say this is definatly a must read not just for teens but adults alike.

Summary: Columbia had better watch out!
Review: In this terrific sequel to Sloppy Firsts, Jess Darling alternately barrels and wanders through her senior year at Pineville High School, unsure where she's going to college, unsure whether she should keep running track, unsure whether she'll ever be able to talk to her parents, unsure whether she'll ever have a boyfriend she can deal with successfully (and lose her virginity to). Paul Parlipiano introduces her to Columbia, which entrances her -- but the events of September 11 throw her into a turmoil about moving to New York. She finds herself somehow hooked up with co-Brainiac Len Levy -- but he gets highjacked by the class whore. She's drawn ever more strongly to the apparently reformed Marcus Flutie -- but can she trust him, given his manipulative history? Things turn out okay, of course, but McCafferty gives nothing away until it happens, creating fully-formed four-dimensional characters who will keep you involved in the story. It seems unlikely there will be a third volume to this series, since Jessica is entering a whole new chapter in her life (having firmly shut the door on the old one), but I'll be interested to see what the author turns to next.

Summary: Second possibly better than 'Firsts'!
Review: If you've read Sloppy Firsts and loved it, there is NO WAY that you can miss Second Helpings.
Megan picks up right where she left off without missing a beat. All of the characters are back and better than ever. .:|Marcus Flutie? Him. Yes, him. :)|:.
This book has some great surprises, don't ever be too sure you know what's going to happen. Jessica Darling is one of the best characters I've ever had the pleasure of reading about, she's so REAL. This definitely does not succumb to Sucky Sequel Syndrome, give it a chance.

Summary: Me. Yes. Me
Review: This book is totally awesome. I'm 18 years old and I loved this book. After reading the first book: Sloppy Seconds- I had to get my hands on this one- and I enjoyed it even more!! Jessica's life is the complete same as a regular teenager- heartbreak, sex, friends, family, death, birth. And I really enjoyed her sarcastic thoughts- they weren't annoying at all. I was literally laughing out loud. I cannot wait until the third book. Anyone who has an interest in this book, definately take the chance and read it. I wasn't able to put these 2 books down.

Summary: Delicious Seqeul
Review: Jessica Darling is back, a little wiser, but no more in control of her life. The book begins the summer before her senior year, with Jessica trying to forget about Him. Between choosing a college, dealing with the Clueless Crew, and now her sister's pregnancy, Jessica hardly has time for a relationship. But, alas, she finds herself somebody's girlfriend. And it certainly won't help the ralationship once He becomes a part of her life again. This delicious sequel to "Sloppy Firsts" will agian have you laughing, hurting, and sometimes yelling right along with our favorite angst-ridden teenager.

Summary: Beautifully written and entirely real life
Review: Who would have thought that me, a woman in her early 30's, would have enjoyed this book? Not me! I have never in my life related to a book as I did to Second Helpings. This book not only takes you back to your high school days, but helps you VIVIDLY remember them. Megan McCafferty has a special talent for throwing you back to a time in your life when everything was carefree and crazy. I didn't want to put this book down and I felt the same way when I read the first book Sloppy Firsts. If you want to laugh, dream and take a trip down memory lane - then this is the book for you. I can't recommend this book enough and it doesn't matter how old you are - everyone will be able to relate to something in it. Buy it now and take an incredible journey with Jessica Darling and her friends.

Summary: Second Helpings is not enough!!
Review: When I first picked up Second Helpings in my bookstore, I didn't think it could even compare to Sloppy Firsts. Was I ever wrong. From the first page of Sloppy Firsts I became completey immersed in Jessica Darling's world. And when I began to read Second Helpings, the inside view on Jessica's life came back. I felt like she was a friend that had just moved away (much like her best friend, Hope) and she had come back to visit and give me the latest scoop on her life. I hope that there will be some thirds to this series because second helpings made me longing for more!!

Summary: An incredible look into the hardships of high school...
Review: Second Helpings is even better than Sloppy Firsts (if it's possible). It gives a realistic "inside look" at high school. It's angsty humor and amusing ramblings really give true insight to the inner-workings of a high school girl's mind, with trying to decide what she wants to do with her life, and which people she wants to include in it. The whole book is a struggle of where Jessica would like to go in life. She has to decide between the "most compatible" guy or the one she really loves. A truly fantastic book and that shows that there is a little bit of Jessica in every woman.

Summary: Astonishing
Review: After reading SLOPPY FIRSTS, I had to pick up this sequel to the astounding first novel. I had been apprehensive that this novel wouldn't live up to it's predecessor, but from the first word, I was hooked. Jessica Darling is so endearing that there is nothing, absolutely NOTHING, that I hated about her. Every word that she wrote in her journal, is so truthful and straight forward. You will agonize with her every trouble and share triumph with her every success. You will find yourself thinking the exact same things as Jessica does while reading this novel: Will she lose her virginity? What college will she choose? What in the world lies ahead for Jessica Darling???

What I found most amazing about this book, was that Megan McCafferty expertly captured the essence of high school. As a high school student myself, I found that almost everything was captured down to the very last detail, revealing high school today as what it is. My only problems? That everyone around Jessican Darling drank, did drugs, and/or had sex. Yes, there are those who are in to that kind of thing.. but there are also those of us who stay as far away from drugs and alcohol as possible. Couldn't there have been at least ONE "good" person??? And Hy's "breakthrough" debut novel.. that was the most incomprehensible babble I have ever read.

Despite these things that I can easily overlook, I looooved this book and highly recommend it to any who are contemplating buying it.
