Summary: I wish i could give more than 5 stars-- this book rocked
Review: I would have never expected a sequal to out perform the first performance... but this one did. I cannot even put into words the teen angst that dripped from the pages; the confusion, sadness, happiness, embarrasment, confusion are all profoundly explored through Jessica, who, in my opinion, is one of the best heroins since Elizabeth Bennett in Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice." McCafferty's writing exhibits humor and irony and some of the most beautiful sentences that I have read in a long time (ie. Marcus smelling like burnt leave in the autumn, and Len and Jessica's hike in the woods and conversation on the bridge) producing feelings of total melancholy. This book totally rocked and I hope that Jessica Darling will be back to grace her audience with her profound thoughts, which could only become more so with college on the horizon. please let there be another book in this series. Thank you, Ms. McCafferty, for letting Jessica into your readers hearts.

Summary: I loved this
Review: I am a 43 yo mom of three and I adored this book. It had all the key elements - well written, interesting characters that were well developed, great story. It pulled me in and I couldn't put it down. I read this in two days. It's a story about high school, but not just for high schoolers. I can't wait for more from Megan McCafferty.

Summary: review of second helpings
Review: I have never read a book that I enjoyed as much as this one (and the first one, sloppy firsts). It is for anyone who has gone through highschool (which is everyone!)and experienced life along the way. It continues the life of Jessica Darling and trails her throughout her final year of highschool. It is just as, if not more amazing, than the first novel. It was like reading pages out of a book of my own life. I think everyone will be able to relate. Don't miss out on this fantastic read!

Summary: Wow...
Review: I read Sloppy Firsts and Second Helpings both in less then a week. Megan McCafferty created a true to life, believable, friendly, and lovable character that I related to in so many ways it was just scary. Jessica Darling, whose best friend moves away and she's left "hopeless", is a very confused teenager who feels like such an outcast but really is one of the greatest people who could ever hear about. It was like making a new best friend, I was thoroughly disappointed when I snapped back to reality and realized she's not real. It is just an awesome book all around that gives amazing life lessons, messages, and tons of laughs. 5 Stars and Two Thumbs Up go to Megan McCafferty!

Summary: i wish i could give more than 5 stars
Review: i did not think that Jessica Darling's life could get anymore amusing, disturbing, sad, pathetic, embarrassing and confusing since "Sloppy Firsts." This book rocked. i could totally feel the teen angst dripping from the pages, filled with old sights and smells, dreams and wishes and yearnings i remember as a teenager. Jessica is one of the most amazing heroins since Elizabeth Bennett in Pride and Prejudice. Her wit, sarcasm... her ability to see her flaws make her a truley remarkable character. McCafferty writes beautifully mixing stunning lines (ie...Marcus smelling like burnt leaves in the fall) with the passion that is felt during the teenage years. i am 27 and this book touched me, leaving me depressed when I rached the last page. I soooo hope that Jessica Darling's adventures continue.
Thank you, Ms. McCafferty, for allowing Jessica to enter your reader's hearts.

Summary: Second Helpings, Awesome Sequel
Review: I loved this book. I read the first one and immediately bought the second to see what happened to the characters. I thought it was even more real than the first one and had me staying up for hours just to see what would happen next. Once again, i highly recommend this book!

Summary: Megan McCafferty delivers once again!
Review: after reading Sloppy Firsts, it was all i could do to contain my exuberance as i waited for the sequel. i rushed out as soon as i could to buy the book, and was wonderfully delighted by McCafferty's deliverance of the heroine, Jess Darling, in all her sarcastic glory and embarressing glamour! in this book, Jess is a senior with all her old problems plauging her, as well as new ones. she stars the summer at a program for talented arts students as a writer. the dilemas that ensue there are wonderful, including the return of paul parlipiano!, and they get better as the year rolls on. Jess's senior year is as chock full of events as her sixteen-year-old torments were. and, of course, to the relief and pleasure of myself and my friends, marcus flutie returns! as does pepe le pew and other favorite characters that make these books even funnier than they are with simply jess. in my opinion, this sequel is all McCafferty promised with Sloppy Firsts and more! (funnier than the first, and more engulfing, i could not put it down!) and since McCafferty's books read as easily as magazines, you will enjoy reading it without much difficulty- perfect summer reading! if you are an 80's fan, a girl, a teenager, or anyone who remembers high school, you will love this book!

Summary: A Worthy Sequal!
Review: Perhaps better than the first, this sequal to Sloppy Firsts continues the story of Jessica Darling and her senior year in high school. With more sarcasm, humor, and the tell-it-like-it-is voice of Jessica you will jump with joy at this worthy sequal to a great book. Megan McCafferty has once again written a wonderful book, and anyone who reads Second Helpings will be waiting in anticipation for more by this fantastic author!

Summary: in/outside the lines
Review: by the end of Sloppy Firsts i'll be honest; i was a LITTLE disappointed. the first book left me with questions, although a complete character view... which continued in this book. dealing with everyday, average American struggles never hit so close to home. the main character, Jessica Darling, enters her senior year without much of a bang - and continues that way for... wait! it's another unexpected endavor... the reader never knows what Jessica is going to do next.
the way the author made every character blend so well together with people the typical teen could pick out in their own high-school hallway really makes the book believeable.
look out Columbia University, Len Levy, Pineville High - and the next reader of this book... here comes Jessica Darling; back for seconds.

Summary: You won't want to put it down!
Review: Second Helpings was a great sequel. The way everything came together at the end of the story was perfect. In this story Jessica continues to keep it real and stay down to earth. It is a very easy book to relate too. Second Helpings kept me guessing what was going to happen the entire time, and when i thought i knew what was going to happen next Jessica would suprise me. It is definately one of the best books i've ever read. I would reccomend it everyone.
