Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Thought provoking and insightful.
Review: I throughly enjoyed this book for a number of reasons. I found the characters to be believable and honest. Having grown up in a household with a mentally ill brother an immigrant father, and a socially deprived mother, I related to many of Dominick's feelings. Mr. Lamb has created very memorable characters. It was well written and kept my interest throughout.

Summary: It was spell bounding.
Review: This book can be intimidating with its 900+ pages, but it was an easy read. It was like reading two stories. One in the present and one in the past. I do think if you can not stomach the aches and pains of mental illness you may find the book to much to read. I liked the ending, it was like a nice cool drink after a hot day. After reading the trials and tribulations it was refreshing to have a simply yet happy ending.

Summary: Read this book!
Review: When I began to read this book I asked myself why I was entering such a dysfunctional and depressing world. The answer was quickly delivered to me with the richness and humaness that Wally Lamb delivers so well.

As in She Comes Undone, Lamb speaks out loud that which we tend to keep hush-hush, the screwed up family unit. We are transported into the heart and soul of Domenick Birdsey, an average guy trying to come to terms with his illegitimate birth, twinness and slim escape from mental illness. His struggle offers hope to those of us who wonder if we can escape the legacy of our births.

I would recommend this book to anyone who feels that they are alone in their questioning of self. A great read.

Since every book review must be objective, I must also add that I was a bit disappointed in Lamb's pat clean-up at the end. Real life does not work that way. And this is a real life read.

Summary: Truely Reflective of the Rollercoaster Ride Called Life!
Review: How does one begin to express in words the emotional satisfaction derrived from reading this book! Wally Lamb is so very gifted. . . . to be able to capture the human spirit, psyche, and nature so completely is indeed a precious gift.

The characters are lively and so very real. I experienced their pain and joy as if it were mine, and was rejoiceful when in the end, what is true for Dominick is a universal truth that we all must come to know. I feel a little more complete having experienced this book!

Summary: The Best Book I Have EVER Read!
Review: I Know This Much is True is unlike any other book I have ever read before. From the moment I picked up the book, I couldn't place it down, and I literally mean this-- I brought the book with me wherever I went, never pausing to pick it up and delve into it more...

The novel touches on a little bit of everything; it is guaranteed to hold onto and find a spot in everyone's heart.

This novel is everything in one, I believe: romantic, suspenseful, and, furthermore, eyeopening and insightful.

After reading this book, I was enwrapped in awe at what this book had shown me and allowed me to envision about life in general.

Don't miss out on this one! It is just too wonderful to surpass!

Summary: I read it to the end, but I wouldn't recommend it.
Review: I was slightly disappointed when I finished I Know This Much Is True, and as more time passes, the more disappointed I am. I thought the ending too pat (the Native American connection, the ex-wife connection, the girlfriend connection), as if Lamb is attempting to make up for all the horrible anger throughout the rest of the book. In addition, some of the important characters (the social worker, the psychiatrist) were empty. Perhaps I was came with too many preconceived notions--I would have liked to read more from Thomas' perspective.

Summary: OUTSTANDING!
Review: First time I'm motivated to write a review... This book was captivating, moving, creative, authentic... a joy to read, every word.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The best book I've read
Review: This book was no less than a life-changing experience. Even though it was pretty lengthy, it was nothing less than beautiful prose. Every word and every phrase flowed so eloquently. With every new page I uncovered more about myself and my own life. I reccomend this book to anyone, especially those who liked She's Come Undone, Lamb's previous novel. You will never look at things the same.

Summary: It got to the heart of my very own soul
Review: I haven't read a book in years. You know...just too busy. Seems I couldn't find time for more than a magazine article. I just felt I had to read this book when I heard Oprah and Wally Lamb talking about it on her show.

I found the book to be absolutely the most fascinating thing I have ever read. It caused me much pain in thinking about my own life and my own family. The author has an incredible way of getting to the heart of the matter.

I am very thankful that this is the book I chose to get back into the world of the 'reading'.

Summary: This book makes you think.
Review: It is difficult to get away with a book that is almost 900 pages in these busy times. However, Wally Lamb pulls it off. It is worth the time and leaves you with a sense of completion when you finish this book.
