Rating: Summary: Let That Be The Reason You Don't Hustle Review: This was an okay read but I enjoyed B-More Careful and A Hustler's Wife better. I am not knocking this author but at times I felt it glorified hustling. I let one of my young proteges read this book and instead of seeing the real message she only saw how she would have been smarter than Carmen and wouldn't get busted. But in the street life you will eventually DIE OR GO TO JAIL OR EVEN WORSE PUT YOUR FAMILY IN THE CROSSFIRE. I think this book should be read in classrooms where children live and see this life everyday then it should be thoroughly discussed.
Rating: Summary: Better than you think Review: When I saw Let That Be the Reason, I thought, 'Oh great, another Coldest Winter Ever knock off.' The book surprised me. It is another of the new urban street novels but it's not a clone. If you read the ghetto fairy tale True to the Game or B-More Careful then Reason is the book for you. It's better written, edited and plotted than both of those books and it makes sense. Pam aka Carmen is done very well. I couldn't agree with her decisions but the author shows why she made them. The ending was sad but realistic. So, is this book as good as Coldest Winter? No, Sistah Souljah's crown is still firmly on her head but unlike True to the Game and B-more, Let That Be the Reason is good enough to be in the same category.
Rating: Summary: Piece of Crap From What I Read Review: Well I can not comment on the entire book because I could not finish it. Her writing style was not for me and it was boring. It started off interesting and then I just lost interest. Now I LOVE B-More Careful, The Coldest Winter Ever, and I even like A Hustler's Wife better. Its not that I don't like street books. She just didn't hold it down for me. I read a couple of chapters and I just couldn't force myself to keep reading.
Rating: Summary: Let that be the reason I read her next book! Review: This book started off very slow, but I wasn't going to put it down. I heard alot of people saying how good this book was. But I would say after the first 20 pages it seemed to get interesting to the point I couldn't put it down. I understood where Pammy was coming from trying to make a living for her and her son. But Chico was off the hook, it was a shame how he treated Pam and her son (which was his child). All that struggling Pam did and then it was worth nothing at the end. Feds took everything, and Chico left her and didn't even care. Then her homeboy settin her up was cold. Man I can not wait until the next book come out. Cause Mrs. Stringer I will be there to make the purchase.
Rating: Summary: What the H*** Review: I lie this book and then I don't like this book. Want to know why well my reason for saying this because of how the some of the main vharacters madw me sick. I just felt like putting the book down and walking away but I finished, and glad I finished but thought it was a lot better than it was hyped up to be. BIG up's to Ms. Stringer she locked down and still doing BIG thangs.Read By choice
Rating: Summary: better than i thought Review: This book started out very slow and she talked about stuff that made you yawn but as it went on it got better it had me wanting more. I can't wait until the sequel comes out in july (imagine that)i really want to know what happened to carmen a.k.a pammy
Rating: Summary: Flipped It... Review: ...the "script" that is! Ms. Stringer's debut novel gives a fresh perspective of the females place in the street game. Illustrating mountain highs and valley lows - it's apparent she made every attempt to keep it real based on her view of THAT WORLD! Her geniune and undying love for her son gives this reader hope that "Carmen" has made yet another FLIP for the good of mother and son - wishing them the very best! ONE COMPLAINT... Having read it just weeks after its release, it's been too long of a wait for the sequel.
Rating: Summary: all that Review: This book was one of the best books I have ever read hands down, excitement, drama, sex, love from the beginning to the end. I am so proud of Vickie Stringer anything she writes I will buy...this is a must have in your collection.
Rating: Summary: FLIP DA GAME Review: I liked this book espically since it was a female pimp Its good to see a women coming up in this world da streets is hard but its good to see us ruffing it out It had a very corny story phase and its a trilogy and 4 some reason she keeps holding back the realise of imagine this or hope they dont repeat the title a million times but i would get this book just cause its different and is a new light down a dark tunnels of typicla male pimps AND FEMALE GIRLFRIENDS
