Summary: Endearing story of two friends
Review: Ever since I was a little girl, I have read and loved Judy Bloom's stories! I was so glad when her first adult novel came out. Summer Sisters was a story of two best friends that are complete opposites but have a friendship that always survives. I liked both of the main characters and enjoyed reading their lives from childhood to adulthood. This book explores all emotions and can make you laugh, cry, get angry..... This is a great book that was easy to read which makes it an even better summer novel!

Summary: Fantastic - One of the best
Review: Summer Sisters was like seeing a new friend again. I started reading Judy Blume when I was seven, and have continued to do so since. After Smart Women, I went back to read my childhood favorites from her, especially Forever and As Long As We Stay Together. Those two have always held special meaning for me. I waited for so long for another Blume book, and when this one came out, I was pleased.

I stayed up the night reading the book and finished it in about 3 hours and just couldn't stop raving about it at school the next day. I was a senior in high school at that point.

I don't understand why some people call it trashy. It isn't. It's warm, funny, sad, touching, and yes in some places, a bit sexy or risque. But this was pure Blume. I felt like I knew Vix and Cailtlin. And in a way I did. They were real characters. Ones you can realte to either because you are like them or one of them, or you knew people like them.

I say that everyone should read it. It's teriffic and you won't be sorry.

Summary: This one really touched my heart.
Review: If I ever wrote a novel, I'd want it to touch my readers the way this one touched me. I've had problems with people like Caitlin off and on throughout my life, they seem so confident and on top of things. It was nice to see that perhaps they might actually be more troubled and insecure than the Vix's of this world like me.

I highly recommend this book, the pages flew by and when it was over...I cried. I'm not sure if I cried because of the way the book ended, or that it ended at all.

Summary: Save yourself from Summer Sisters
Review: I wouldn't recommend this book. I read it with some trepidation, fearing it might have some trashy scenes similar to some of Ms. Blume's earlier work. With covers removed and passages highlighted, Blume's books where popular to pass around when I was at girls' school in the 80s. Luckily, Summer Sisters doesn't have any such scenes, but it doesn't have much of anything else either. With no real substance, it is a superficial and easily predictable tale that left me unconvinced I really knew (or cared) anything about any of the characters. It is the stuff of bad made-for-TV movies. When I bought the book, I was feeling sentimental, having just bought Freckle Juice for my eight-year old. Judy Blume's Are You There God ... Blubber ... and Deanie really touched me as a prepubescent girl, but Summer Sisters did nothing for me as a grown woman. I, like another reviewer, was disappointed to learn that Ms. Blume really isn't a very good writer. Spend your money on something worthwhile.

Summary: This book is amazing!!!!!
Review: I absolutely adore this book! It is so well written and interesting that it just pulls you in and is impossible to put down. While reading, you feel like you're on Martha's Vineyard with Caitlin and Vix. The characters are so real and believable yet unlike anyone I know. I STRONGLY recommend this book to anyone who likes an interesting and engaging novel.

Summary: Loved it
Review: This book is an excellent summer beach read. The setting of the Vinyard is perfect, and all of the characters are so wonderful and complex. You really care about them. This book made me laugh a lot, and I even sobbed at the end.

Summary: ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS!
Review: I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH! IT WAS EXCELLENT WRITING EVEN THOUGH IT WAS SORT OF WEIRD WHEN SHE INCORPORATED EVERYONES THOUGHTS. I ADMIT I WAS A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED VIX DIDN'T END UP WITH WHO I WANTED BUT IT STILL WAS SO BEAUTIFUL. IT WAS SO INTERESTING THAT I FINISHED IT ONE DAY. AND OBVIOUSLY THIS BOOK IS GOOD BECAUSE IT HAS OVER 800 REVIEWS. I LOVED THIS BOOK'S ENDING SO MUCH THAT I CRIED LIKE FOR TEN MINUTES AFTER, THATS HOW GOOD THIS BOOK WAS! WAY TO GO, JUDY!

Summary: WOW!
Review: I read all of Judy Blume's books when I was growing up and I have to say that when I heard she wrote something new, I knew I had to have it! It took me awhile to get started on it but while I was sick for two weeks I finally read it and WOW, what a wonderful book! I had a best friend that shared my first name all through high school and is still my best friend today and I can tell you we both could relate to this book VERY WELL! I felt totally rejuvenated by this book, and I'm not THAT old. Would I read it again, sure! Again and again and again...

Summary: An unbelievable book!
Review: I didn't expect to like this book but after the first few pages how could I not? It was fantastically written, one of the best books I've ever read. It was the kind of book that you don't want to end. The stories about friendship and love really sought out your emotions. It was hard to put down. Judy Blume is an excellent writer and I recommend this book highly. If you've ever fallen in love or ever had a best friend, than this book is for you.
