Rating: Summary: Vix and Cat Review: Vix can't believe it! Cat, the most popular and pretty girl in class, is asking Vix to spend the summer with her at the Vineyard. What turns out to be an awkward beginning, turns into an incredible journey in the friendship of Vix and Cat, now bestfriends. This novel takes a close look into the lives of these two teens, including lusty affairs, betrayel, and an unexpected ending. For older readers, this will take you back to how you felt as a teen. For young readers in their teens, this is a book you can relate to. I was hooked from the first page, and finished the entire book in less than a week. I already recommended it to all my friends, give it a try.
Rating: Summary: Super Beach Read! Review: I picked up this book at the beach after not reading a Judy Blume since childhood. What a fantastic, fast, easy, truly fun read! I was so sad to see it end after only one day's reading. I just could not put it down.I definitely would recommend that you run, not walk, to read Summer Sisters if you haven't already.
Rating: Summary: Best book I have ever read! Review: Summer Sisters is the best book I have ever read. I am 14 and I read it in one day I couldn't put it down. I was kind of suprised that Judy Blume could write such a great book, nothing like her books for younger people. I really enjoyed having multiple viewpoints from people so you could understand the whole story from every viewpoint. I could really relate to Vix, like I am sure a lot of young people can. It made me wish that I was in her situation and experiencing everything she did. One of my friends won't read this book becasue she thinks it is "innapropriate" but everyone has had experiences similar to that if they admit is or not. YOu should definetly buy this book you will want to read it more than once. I am going on my fifth.
Rating: Summary: How Could This Make the Bestsellers List? Review: If you have nothing but time on your hands, and don't expect much from a book, I can see why you'd read this. I read about 150 pages and felt like I was reading a book for teens. You'd be better off reading "The Pilot's Wife", "Memoirs of a Geisha", or "Bridget Jones Diary." Save your money and your time on "Summer Sisters."
Rating: Summary: Summer Sisters Review: ............................... Vix was a city girl. Never had seen the ocean, and definitely never planned on seeing it until that summer. When the new, most popular girl in school asked you to spend the summer with her in the Vinyard, you new things would change, forever. This book captures the events of a girl's life from young adolecence to a strong young woman. I would recommend this book to everyone of all ages, definitely a 5 star, two thumbs up book!
Rating: Summary: Summer Sisters Review: READING REVIEW I read the book Summer Sisters by Judy Blume. The book is very well written, although I wouldn't recommend it to younger readers. It contains lots of adult situations, and content. Although there were some questionable parts in this novel, the outcome was great. I thought the book was very in-depth, and it described the life of two best friends very well. The story spans twenty years of their lives, and you get to know the characters intimately. The main character's name is Victoria Leonard. People call her Vix for short. She is the quiet type, who is well read, and smart, although she comes from a middle class family who is often violent, and disrespectful to each other. She is astounded when the most popular girl in the school, Caitlyn Sommers, asks her to Martha's Vineyard for the summer. It was like a Cinderella story for Vix. She got to escape to a charming setting with a loving family. At the vineyard, they immediately became best friends or "summer sisters". The story tells of their trials and tribulations until they are through college. Throughout this time, Vix has become very distant from her family, and Caitlyn's family becomes her own. The story has a few interesting twists and turns, and a surprise ending. I enjoyed the book immensely and on a scale of one to ten, (one being the lowest, ten being the highest) I would give this book an eight-and-a-half.
Rating: Summary: As Real As It Gets Review: As a teen i really enjoyed reading Summer Sisters, and would highly recommend it to anyone. It has become one of my favorite books because of the style it is written in. Through out the story there were added pages strictly for certain characters that described what was going on in their minds durring the situation that was taking place. I really liked this because it gave a better insight to what that character was really like. I also liked how the tone of the story was really straight foward, and Blume didn't hold anything back. When reading the book it was almost like someone was telling the story in an everday conversation manner, and I liked this because sometimes you need a break from the normal novel readings. Don't get me wrong, I also do enjoy reading books with a more advance language, but Summer Sisters' realism kept me interested and I couldn't put the book down!
Rating: Summary: Summer Sisters Review: I've always loved Judy Blume. I read "Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret" about 36 times before I reached 6th grade! And I loved all the others--"Starring Sally J. Freidman as Herself", "Otherwise Known As Sheila The Great","Freckle Juice" and the "Fudge" series. So I was, of course, very pleased to read "Summer Sisters" which I thought was wonderful. Of course, I read it in a day and was sorry when it was over. I love how Judy Blume drew out the complexities of a friendship and how it is nearly destroyed by Caitlin's selfishness. The writing made the read fast and enjoyable and I wasn't nauseated by any cliches. The descriptions in the book made me feel like I was there, experiencing the things the girls did. This book is like a vacation in itself.
Rating: Summary: every summer Review: I love this book so much. I have a best friend like Vix and our relationship is like theirs. I have read Summer Sisters the past three summers and I plan to read this summer also. What a classic. Thanks Judy!
