Summary: Great Summer Read!
Review: A great book if you're looking for a book that you just can't put down. There are sex scenes that aren't appropriate for younger teens. A great book to read during the summer on the beach, on a plane or just curled up on the couch.

Summary: I should have stuck with "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing"
Review: I was half way through this book when it struck me that Judy Blume really isn't a very good writer. This realization is disappointing to a 27 year old who grew up on "Superfudge" and learned all there was to know about puberty from the pages of "Are you there God...". I was so excited to read this book that I didn't stop to consider that of course it would be filled with sex, sex and more sex. This was NOT a deep book at all, and yet it was very readable (almost addictive) so I can't give it a truly poor rating. It's really not Blume's fault; she has the adolescent niche down pat. I'm not sure what I wanted this book to be... maybe just a little more "grown up".

Summary: amazing!
Review: I couldn't put this book down--I read all 400 pages in six hours!

The intricacies of the friendships in this book, as well as the other relationships, are really true to form. Everyone should be able to identify with one of the characters in this book--from the mother who takes everything out on the daughter b/c the daughter is able to escape and the mother is not to the shy, misunderstood brother.

I highly recommend this book to anyone with a few hours to spare.

Summary: INCREDIBLE!
Review: This book is one of the most moving books I have ever read. I have read it three times, and each time it touches my heart. Martha's Vineyard is my home away from home. I could relate to everything that was going on in the book. You really feel like you are folowing the characters, and they are your friends. The descriptive way the Judy Blume writes is incredible. Even if you haven't been to the Vineyard you feel the magic it holds. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Summary: Ever the same
Review: Just the same story at the beginning like some others. Just so simple. A "friendship". Why didn't she write about other things. You can read so much books and it's so often like the same story. It's not amazing that some people, which had read this book, are not so happy as some other times. I think that some readers will never read some books from Judy Blume.

Summary: Couldn't Put it Down.
Review: I loved this book. I was so caught up in the characters that I wasn't able to put it down until I could finish it and see what happened to all of the characters.

Summary: A fabulous book for a little summer fun!
Review: I truly enjoyed this book! I read it in two days and could not put it down. I only wish that Judy Blume would write a sequel!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: I can't stop thinking about this book!
Review: I don't understand why people are getting so upset witht the amount of sex in this novel. Are we all adults here? Everyone found out about sex in different ways, wrong or right. Maybe many people could not identify with Vix or Cat, but some of us could. Some of us grew up in families just like the ones written about in this book. I felt like Judy Blume must have known what it was like to grow up with my family, and it made me feel like I was not alone. The characters other than Vix and Cat weren't developed well, and it ends way before you want it to. But the writing style is so brilliant, you can feel exactly what the characters feel. This story will grab you and it won't let go. And isn't that was reading is all about - a great story? If you're thinking of reading this book, you definitely should. But don't try and make it out to be more than it is. It's not going to win any Pulitzers, but it is a haunting story that rings very true. I still think about it, and I read it more than a month ago. The characters and the story will stay with you a long time after you put the book down.

Summary: If you read Judy Blume in adolescence...
Review: You won't be disappointed by this novel. Although the characters are introduced when they are girls, I don't recommend this for young readers, as the plot progresses with them throughout their lives in a manner that captures adulthood, and the sex, betrayal, and pain that can sometimes go with it. The characters will have similar traits to previous characters in Blume's novels; again, the author captures the pain of betrayal in the friendship of two women in a manner that is uncanny. I did not like the ending of this book, which is why I gave it four stars. I think there could have been a more creative solution.
