Summary: Summer Sisters, by Judy Blume
Review: I enjoyed this book very much. It was like a roller coaster of life's highs and lows, and the friends and family who were sometimes there and sometimes not. Some parts were intense, while others sad. The romance, what can I say, WOW! Although I fantasized about what would happen next, I was disappointed at how quickly the book ended. Overall, I would recommend this book as a great novel to read this summer.

Summary: Excellent book for girls- Summer Sisters
Review: Summer Sisters, by Judy Blume, was an excellent read for women. The main character, Victoria Lenords, or Vix, is invited to spend the summer with Caitlin Somers in Martha's Vineyard. When they are only 12 they learn to love each other and become "Summer Sisters". They continue spending each and every summer at the Vineyard together and they experience love for the first time. Judy Blume takes these characters through ups and downs of relationships, love, friendships, marriages and deaths. They grow up in the late 1970's when the world seems peaceful and like nothing can go wrong. They soon learn that they were mistaken when they experience losses and goodbyes. Vix eventually goes off to Harvard while Caitlin spends many years traveling the world. She never learns to settle down in one place, even after she has a child. Vix makes new friends and gets married to a man from her childhood and has a child also. Vix and Caitlin, summer sisters, grow up together and I loved to read about their experiences with first kisses, sex, and parting from one another. Most women will find this book easy to relate to and hard to put down. I finished this book in a little over one day because the way it was written was easy to read. The chapters weren't very long and i kept getting hooked so i wanted to see what happened. A lot of conflicts kept arising and i was curious to see how they were resolved.

Review: The writing style of Judy Blume allows the in-depth analysis of every character introduced in Summer Sisters. Because the book is mainly in the point of view of the main character, Vix, it is more intriguing not only to learn about her feelings, but also of those around her. I could vividly see every character in detail. Blume exactly depicts the pros and cons of being in a friendship or relationship with all the good times and all the bad. She has the power to captivate her audience because she is so real and is able to portray her characters as if it were reality. This is very important to me in selling the book to the reader. Friendship, the most evident theme of this book, shows the types of friendships every person encounters in their lives. Usually I prefer suspense and mystery books because they have the power to grab my interest to the point of having to turn the next page before putting it down. But this book, a tale of friendship, love, and loss, also has the power to allow the reader to take an active role in the emotions and actions of the characters. The constant heartbreaks Vix encounters has the power to break your heart, triggering aspects of your life that somehow tie in with the book. This book correctly demostrates the definition of friendship, but also shows how to cope when your best friend betrys you or your boyfriend breaks up with you. It is a pleasure to read, but also a learning experience that correlates to life for every person who reads it. This book is especially powerful to teenagers because most have these friendships and have these squirmishes over boys. It has a power over a younger auidience because it relates to life just as you're living it from day tp day. Teens always have that one best friend who always breaks their heart or that one boy they love so much that they would give anything up to be with them. The book is tennage life, and it helps to realize that's how life is for every teen.

Summary: The summer sisters review
Review: The book "Summer Sisters" really took me in. It wasn't the type of book that I got bored with. This book brought out my ability to read. I'm the type of person who hates to read, and the shorter a book is, the better. "Summer Sisters" is around four hundred pages. For some reason I got taken in by it. That proves that this book was a good. The storeyline is that there are two best friends that go away every summer together to Martha's Vinyard. Everysummer they met up with two boys named Bruce and Von. One of the girls Victoria, dates Bruce for a while, but you have to read the book to find out who he ends up with in the end. This book is meant for a person that is interested in finging out about other peoples' problems all at once. It was recomended to me by a friend, because I was reading a book That wasn't good. If you like a numerous amount of characters in a book, then this is the book for you.

Summary: Summer Sisters
Review: I give Summer Sisters by Judy Blume 2 thumbs up and 5 stars! It is by far on of the best books I have ever read. Any girl age 13 and up can totally relate to this book either with something a friend is going through or themselves. It's about everything that interests a girl - Friendship, Family life, Growing older, Relationships and Loss. It all starts when at a very young age Caitlin a very popular girl in the class goes up to Victoria who is basically the total opposite of Caitlin and their famalies are VERY different too. But from that day on the friendship builds and they spend summer after summer together...Every story more exciting than the next. it was such a fun book to read no matter what season it is it makes you feel like your right there with them in the sunny weather on the Vineyard. I used to hate to read but once I went out a looked for a book myself that I wanted to read I finished it in 2 1/2 days. It is a definite page turner I just couldn't wait to see what was going to happen to these girls next. I reccomend this book to any girl even if you hate to read you will love this book!

Review: There is no better time than now to read Judy Blume's third novel for adults, Summer Sisters. This book will take you back to your own childhood summers and will remind you how strong the bond of friendship can be. The two main characters, Caitlin Somers and Victoria Leonard, stand out for their differences as two young friends in Summer Sisters. Caitlin is outgoing, wild, and outspoken. Victoria (Vix, for short) is reserved and thoughtful, but strong. As they mature, their differences push Caitlin and Vix apart, but their bond as summer sisters is never completely broken. The two first become summer sisters when Caitlin invites Vix to her summer home on Martha's Vinyard. It is here each summer the two struggle with becoming women, learn about sex, and find out the truth about love. They discover that life does not come one emotion at a time. The novel follows the two women through adolescence into adulthood. After graduating from high school together, Vix goes to Harvard and Caitlin decides she wants to see the world. As the two take different paths, they are slowly pulled apart, drawn together again only by Martha's Vinyard and their vow to stay summer sisters forever. One of the elements that makes Blume's story such a powerful read is the reality she creates. Her characters and each of the trials and emotions they face are very real. Their experiences with love and loss are believable. You can also see yourself or people you know in Caitlin and Vix. The background characters are well-developed, and they create and enrich the family issues that surround the main characters. One very interesting element Blume uses is that the story is not told only by one narrator. The points of view of many of the characters are revealed. Summer Sisters is a story that will play with your emotions and leave you wanting to know more. It is for anyone who has known the power of the bond of friendship

Summary: Judy Blume at her best!
Review: I selected Summer Sisters because of what I read as the summary at the back of the book. It sounded very interested. The author writes very well. The author's language is very vivid, candid and explicit. In other words, the author tells it how it is. Points in this book are illustrated with language. The characters are developed step-by-step. One is able to understand each character at a very understandable rate. Summer Sisters can be for anyone to read. I do not think it has a specialized audience. I think it could be read by any wide ranging readership. I do not think it succeeds in what the author is trying to accomplish. The end of the book is not what one would expect. The ending is heart-breaking. One would think, after reading the entire book, that it would have a happy ending. There are some very disappointing parts in the book and the ending is definitely one of them. Aside from the above paragraph, I think Summer Sisters would make a good audio book or/and movie. Taken from the book, Judy Blume's twenty-two books, including the "New York Times" bestsellers "Wifey" and "Smart Women", have sold over sixty-five million copies worldwide and have been translated into twenty languages. Summary: Summer Sisters Forever
Review: I really enjoyed this book. It delt with friendship, love, heartbreak, and family. The friendship between Vix and Caitlin reminded me of a frienship between me and my friend(only not as complicated). This book tells the story through many of the character's point of views(mostly Vix's but never Caitlin's). It was very easy to read. I didn't think the detailed description of the love scenes were necessary to this book, but other than that it was a great book.

Review: I really liked this book. It was very well-written and I liked the way it centered on the weird friendship between Vix and Caitlin. The eleventh hour surprise in the story concerning Bruce was interesting. The ending was a bit disappointing for me, but overall, an excellent book.

Summary: I was really disappointed
Review: Before I picked up this book, I had read great things about it, including praises for its sentiment and women-bonding issues. But after I read Summer Sisters, I'm sorry to say that I felt a sick pit in my stomach from the totally unnecessary excess of sexual content and testosterone-laden fantasies. On top of that, the female characters were not strong role models or even women I could relate to - and their bonds together were as weak as their characters. Parents should be aware of the obscenity in this novel before allowing children under 15 to read it. I know the movies kids watch nowadays are horrid, but somehow reading about infidelity and adolescent sexuality through the minds of these characters can leave disturbing visions.
