Summary: So-So. Doesn't really live up to its ratings..
Review: I was really excited about reading this book as I heard nothing but good about it. Its not that its *bad* but its been done before. Blume gives good charaterizations but the writing is choppy. It was predictable and could have been shortend to about 1/2 the length if taken out the many meaniningless parts. Overall something to read at the beach- just dont get to excited

Summary: okay but needs to brush up ending
Review: summer sisters is a good book but the ending is rushed and it doesn't make sense to me. also, Judy blume doesn't tell what is happening in Caitlens point of view so the book is not complete. plus everyone knew that caitlen would disappear in the end. the only exciting bits was when they were kids. when they grow up, it get complicated with all the monologues and all. I would not suggest this to another person it is not all that good and does not deserve all the praise it got. Judy Blume should work on kid books.

Summary: Very disappointed.
Review: I read this book because I was told it was so wonderful by several people. Reading about the sexual escapades of two teenagers is not my idea of a good read. There were probably 25 pages in the entire book that didn't mention sex, their breasts, or a man's "package." I would never recommend this book to anyone. I can't believe that I even bothered to finish it.

Summary: Can't put this book down!
Review: I chose this book because it had Judy Blume's name on the cover. I sat down to read it and couldn't stop until I was finished about 1:oo am the next morning. It is the kind of book that makes you want to turn the page just to see what is going to happen next. A great book for the beach.

Summary: Pure FLUFF but entertaining
Review: Judy Blume still has her talent for weaving an entertaining tale even though it may lack depth. I bought this book one evening at the supermarket and finished it in less than 24 hours. It did serve its purpose - to whisk me away to a time when one's girlhood friendships could be based on a bond as loose as being in the same class together. The story does remind one of how friends grow and change and risk growing apart permanently. For a fortunate few that bond, forged in blissfully ignorant youth, can be stronger than the betrayals that follow throughout the years. Overall a fun and easy read that I recommended to my best friend...

Summary: Summer Sisters was an EXCELLENT book.
Review: I could not put the book down, it pulled me in and I wanted to finish. I read "Summer Sisters" in 2 nights, something I rarely do. If you are a Judy Blume fan, you need to read this book....

Summary: Shallow
Review: Summer Sisters was a little shallow and vacuous for my taste. I've read other Blume books that were a lot better. I am more of a "Memoirs of a Geisha", or "The Triumph and the Glory" type, eager to read about women making their own way in the world without depending upon sex or relationships with men to justify their existence or measure themselves against themselves or other women.

Summary: Great read!!
Review: I just finished this book and thought it was a great read. The storyline was interesting and very easy to follow. I'm sure everyone has had a "Caitlin" in their life at one time or another. I could hardly put it down. It is recommended to anyone who wants to relax and enjoy a book for a couple of days this summer.

Summary: A quick, mindless read that is not particularly entertaining
Review: I am glad I borrowed this book and did not buy it. It is a mindless meander through a quagmire of repetative drivel. Take out the ultimate solution arrive at by Caitlin, and this book could easily have been a Harlequin Romance. Really- one minute they are living in semi-poverty amid filth during their summer visits, and the next they are wealthy people in sophisticated surroundings. The characters are poorly developed, the plot does not exist and the editors must have no long term memory.

Summary: You can escape inside this book with Blume's storytelling
Review: It is easy to feel transported to the Vineyard while reading this book. The story telling is engrossing, but not all that deep. But, then again, on a lazy summer afternoon, who wants deep? I was slightly disturbed by their preadolescent trysts, but they go by quickly and you move on. I'd recommend it for the beach bag.
