Rating: Summary: Ride the Wind/One of the BEST books written! Review: This is one of the most outstanding books I have ever read! I have had this book for a few years and I have read it 4 times! Every time I read it, it's just as good (and I am not one who likes to read a book more than once). The detail in this book is amazing! I feel like I am there. You will not regret buying this book. I have yet to read another book that can compare to this one! If you like books on past native american women, this one is an absolute MUST! Naduah/Cynthia Ann Parker remains in my heart forever! This entire book is ASTONISHING!!!!!!! What makes it so compelling is that it is based on a true story.
Rating: Summary: Ride the Wind Review: I bought a copy of Ride the Wind at a flea market for $.25 about 12 years ago. It is definately the best book I have ever read. I am constantly looking for more to read about Cynthia Ann Parker and Quanah. I loaned my book to someone a few years ago and never got it back. I have checked out a copy at my local library several times since. It is the only book I can read again and again.
Rating: Summary: Not Just For Fans of Indian History Review: Wish I could give this book more than 5 stars! You don't have to be a reader of old west history to enjoy this book. The details of everyday life are amazing - much to the author's credit. Wish there could be a Ride The Wind II but we all know how the history of the Indians turns out. Read the book--I don't believe you will be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: excellent review Review: this is a classic in fiction --- depicts reallife with the cheyenne indians - you can almostfeel the words come to lifeon the pages.
Rating: Summary: Very well written, and entertaining! Review: In my opinion, this is one of the best Indian novels I have ever had the pleasure to read. Lucia St. Clair Robson's writing is wonderful, and Cynthia Parker was such an excellent lead character; I was rooting for her all the way :)
Rating: Summary: You'll Want To Stand Up & Cheer! Review: This excellent story of Cynthia Ann Parker is a must-read for all fans of Indian lore. Extremely well written, you'll find yourself completely captivated by this woman's life story, I know when I finished it I hated for it to end. A great classic novel that is highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Ride the Wind Review: This is one of my all-time favorite books! This book goes beyond detailing a great adventure, by intertwining a poignant love story and a fascinating documentation of Comanche life.
Rating: Summary: Best Little Book in Texas or anywhere for that matter! Ü Review: I had read this book about 4 years ago and am so glad to know that other people feel the way I did when I read it. I was mesmerized and saddened all at the same time after reading it. I live near the place she was taken by the Indians and have always wanted to go and see the Fort where she lived. Maybe one of these days I will. As for the author.... she is a genius and I want to know what other books out there could possibly compare to this story. (none!) This is by far the best 'history' book you'll ever read! In fact, I am going to pull it off my shelf tonight and start reading it again. Y'all got me all excited again and can't wait to start on it!
Rating: Summary: ride the wind Review: I have had this book for a long time and just reread it.The book is personally signed in the second page toJerry, welcome to comanche country!Travel with care or lose your hair!Lucia St.clair robson. Sept.1991.
Rating: Summary: An End of an Era Review: I found this book quite by accident going through some things in an old shed. The title and synopsis seemed worthy of a little time so I proceeded to read it. I couldn't put the book down after I started it. What a wonderful insight into a truly remarkable way of life...so different than how it is portrayed in the movies and TV (with the possible exception of "Dances With Wolves", I think). It really makes you THINK about what life must have been like in those days, not only for the settlers, but especially for the many different Native American tribes who were seeing their home...their land...and their very way of life threatened at every new dawn. Excellent read...kudos to the author!
