Summary: An enlightenment of Henry's life
Review: It has become one of my favorite books. I have reread it several times and have gotten more out of the story each time. I very much enjoy the description of his private thoughts and moments. It made him appear more alive and real then history books have made him. I'm looking forward to more books from from Margaret George and will recommend any of the ones she has written to date.

Summary: Couldn't ask for more
Review: I've read a lot of historical novels about Henry VIII and his daughter Elizabeth but none can compete with Margaret George's Henry VIII. This book brings Henry VIII to life. It's years since I first read this book, but it's still on my short list for recommended reading.

Summary: Excellent record of events during the reign of Henry VIII.
Review: I have read many many articles, stories, and novels about English History. I stumbled onto Margaret George the author and she is now one of my favorites! This novel gives an incredible insight into the life of the Prince who became King Henry VIII. She puts history into words that anyone can enjoy. This is a must for anyone who has even an inkling of interest in English History. I have only one complaint.......Ms. George needs to write more novels! I am running out of new reading material!!

Summary: An entertaining look at the most interesting monarch
Review: This is a quick witted, entertaining look at one of history's most dynamic monarchs. At times I found myself forgetting that this was a fictionalized book. If you love British history, or just a good read, you'll love this book. Plus, it's long enough to quell the appetite of a voracious reader.

Summary: A history-lover's paradise!
Review: Margaret George gives her readers a glimpse into Henry VIII that is informed and full of fun as well. Reformation England was a time of great flux and change, and George does a fine job of describing that environment. The reader will feel as if he or she "knows" Henry. And, even if unable to agree with the sovereign, the reader will at least gain a much better understanding of why he may have acted as he did. Top notch! Full of historical and social details that will bore you if you don't enjoy such things. But if you do, then you're in for quite a treat.

Summary: Breathtaking descriptions and insights!
Review: Henry VIII is alive and well in the pages of this book. I kept forgetting what was fact and what was fiction. Ms. George does such an amazing job of creating Henry in these pages that it's hard to go back to teaching him without wanting to throw in some of the events in her novel!!

Summary: George brings history alive!
Review: Margaret George is one of the few authors of our time who can make a 1,000 page book seem too short. George keeps the action going while giving factual information about her subjects (in this case, Henry VIII). I didn't want to put it down. When I would have to leave the book to go to school, I would agonize over wanting to know what would come next. It's a literary masterpiece that, I feel, doesn't get the publicity and recognition that it deserves. Any one who has read this or any other book by Margaret George knows what I mean. I would recomend it to anyone in a heartbeat.

Summary: a huge read
Review: A great book that I found hard to put down. It was interesting how the author dealt with Henry's search for love. He went through 6 wives looking for it only to realise in the end that it had been right by him the whole time - in the form of his best friend. That was quite sad.

Summary: Fabulous novel everyone interested in history should read
Review: This was by far the best historical fiction book I have ever read. It showed Henry VIII as he has never been painted before. I had never realized what an interesting and unusual lifestyle this famous king. I would highly recommend this novel that everyone would love.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A book full with real life emotions and characters
Review: My second Gerorge book after the Memoirs of Cleopatra, was extremely enjoyable. The vivid depiction of the historical characters brought me into another time. I became lost in his(Henry's) realm. I highly recommend this book to anybody interested in history. The manner in which George presents historical fiction is without equal in my opinion. I can't wait for her next subject.
