Rating: Summary: This book was great I couldn't put I down for 5mins! Review: The book keeped you wanted to know what was to become of Tess and Kenny and his daughter. I was greatful for happy ending!
Rating: Summary: A much needed escape to a simpler life Review: I just read the book and I loved it! I could not put it down. I love how the author goes into such detail, yet the book is written simply and is very tasteful. I was really brought into the story, and enjoyed the escape to a much simpler life. I found this book by chance. This is the first one I have read of Lavyrle's and will definately read others.
Rating: Summary: I LOVED IT! Review: I could not put this book down, I loved the characters and the story. If you want a good romantic read and an escape from everyday life then you'll love "Small Town Girl" and I would also recommend another book by the author called "Bitter Sweet".
Rating: Summary: Super Cheesy characters and story Review: This was the first LaVyrle Spencer book I have read, though my mom (from Tennessee) has sent me several.I was not impressed with the quality of the writing. Though the story was interesting enough to keep me reading to the end, the descriptions of the characters, especially their clothing, made me question Spencer's sense of style. I found myself reading several passages to my husband and friends, just to make them laugh. For example, when Kenny "strode across the yard wearing a white knit shirt COLLAR UPTURNED INTENTIONALLY...and trendy topsiders". He sounds like such a GEEK even though he is supposed to be cool now. And Tess's and Faith's clothes are equally nauseating! This was a very annoying book that makes me hesitate to read another Spencer book, but maybe one day I'll be bored enough!
Rating: Summary: Absolutely refreshing and a delight to read! Review: Small Town Girl is written with a wonderful story line filled with humor & sweetness. I highly recommend this book to all ages - many valuable messages that only Spencer can express with such finesse!
Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: I just finished reading this book and absolutely loved it. I'm from the country originally and can very much relate it to the small town that my parents are from. This book, like many of Mrs. Spencers others barely make it through the weekend. I love her stories so much that I can't bare to put them down but am very upset when I'm finished reading them because I have nothing good to do.
Rating: Summary: Romance, romance, romance Review: This book was wonderful! I enjoyed it so much I didn't put it down until I was down - seriously! This story is so real it draws you in and keeps you the whole way through! Lavyrle Spencer is by far one of the greatest romantic writers.
Rating: Summary: FABULOUS!!! Review: I have been a romance reader for about 10 years. "Small Town Girl" is absolutely-without-a-doubt my favorite modern-day romance novel. Tess and Kenny prove how much we change from high school--and Kenny becomes every girl's dream. Suave, dignified, anticipatory, kind, discreet, refreshingly direct...and the list goes on. Tess's sophistication is not hard core snobbishness, and therefore she is able to bring herself back to enjoying and appreciating the simple things--so Kenny is perfect! Throw in the added realism of the Nashville music industry and you have an engaging, powerful, and moving story. "Small Town Girl" is simply fabulous!!!
Rating: Summary: This novel is capturing, a book that touches the heart. Review: LaVyrle Spencer does a beautiful job of portraying the small town life that Tess McPhail comes home to, from her million dollar life. The story line is interesting, and will not let you go, until you've finished. Even after you're done reading, you will wish the novel was continued. I think that perhaps a sequel would be nice.
Rating: Summary: All around Excelent book. I couldn't put it down. Review: From the moment I read the first line I was immediatly captivated by Spencer's detail and plot is just amazing. It really took me into the life of a Country star. I wish that there was a sequal.
