Summary: Once again, Spencer awes the reader and touches the heart!
Review: Spinning the web of yet another touching story, Spencer casts a spell on her readers and invites them into the world of a country star! This story is one of her best! It portrays the life of a stunning performer and shows the excitement involved in the business. The way she takes her character back to her roots to show the importance of family is outstanding! This story is a must read for all country fans especially those who love the streets of Nashville as I do!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: This is a great book about Nashville/the country music scene
Review: Spencer's detailed descriptions about the life and times of a country music star certainly held my interest. I was made aware of this book by a friend because of a reference in the book to the Freer Texas Rattlesnake Round Up. As coordinator of the Freer Rattlesnake Round Up, I was happy to read the comments Mac made to Casey about the event.

I am now anxious to read more of Spencer's works.

But, I am even more anxious to learn the reasons for including the Freer Rattlesnake Round Up in this book.

Our "small town" of 3,000 is proud to be included in the story of "Small Town Girl".

Summary: Good reading material to wile away a rainy day.
Review: Sometimes the best things life has to offer are right under your nose

Summary: It could have been great...
Review: I was with this book right up to the end. Some may not find it believable that a country star would fall for the high school dork, but I found the romance rather redemptive for the cruel way Tess treated Kenny in high school. Besides, who hasn't read about the ugly duckling heroine who turns into a beautiful swan? This is a great twist with the hero being the ugly duckling turned swan.

But LaVyrle lost me at the end when Tess announces to Kenny (while the two are in bed, no less) that she never wants to have children with him because her career is "too important" to her. Huh? A singer of the kind of music that traditionally celebrates family is putting her career over the family she might have built with her true love? Makes you wonder just how much Tess really loves Kenny and such wondering on the part of a reader spells the death of any hope for a successful romance novel.

This book can be summed up in five words: In the end, a disappointment.

Summary: Excellent, couldn't put down until finished.
Review: This book was the best book I have read in a long while. It kept my interest, I felt like I was inside the novel myself. I just knew that somehow the two would end up together.

The fact that a celebrity saw that simple was sometimes better than fancy. I felt like she realized that the simple things in life are sometimes much better than what all the money in the world can buy.

I'll never be able to pass up another one of LaVyrle Spencer novels again. I've already been to the library looking for more of her books to read.

Summary: Country music lovers..this one's for you!
Review: This is the first Spencer book that I have read. Just for the record, I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN!! It's a must read for all Country Music lovers. You'll definitely get caught up in Tess' world of Country Music fame. The characters all real, fun and believable. Anyone can relate to Tess' attraction to Kenny and his daughter Casey. As someone who married the guy from school, that she was never attracted to growing up, Kenny and Tess' story was right on! I'm a Spencer fan for life!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Almost a page turner, but a fun, light read.
Review: Although LaVyrle Spencer is indeed a captivating writer, this book just seems to hold on before dropping to the rest in the cheesy book pile. At some points this novel is completely unrealistic, even for a novel. I can't beleive that Tess would actually married some dork from high school that she knew for a whole two months. In addition, after Tess goes back to Nashville there is very little real plot left; no conflict. Spencer could have said all she did in about half those pages. At some points it did get boring. And what was with all the references to food and what Tess ate? It just seemed thrown in as did the conflict with Judy, which was greatly under-developed. Yet, the book held my interest and I am glad it was a happy ending. I just wish more was left for the reader to fill in. Some of Spencer's other works are much more captivating.

Summary: Unbelievably romantic- a great summer read!
Review: I love LaVyrle Spencer, and have read each and every one of her books. this one is yet another winner. The characters are real, the scenes and situations are realistic, and the attraction that grows slowly between Kenny and Tess is really believable. It is a great book..be careful not to take it to the beach! You will become so engrossed, you will surely burn!!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Didn't keep my interest
Review: I'm sorry LaVyrle, love you as I do, Small Town Girl just didn't keep my interest. The romance just didn't seem believeable and I was easily bored and felt the book was just thrown together. Why would she love a dork from her high school? My opinion, steer clear and go for one of those country music hunks.
