Summary: Hilarious
Review: This book will make you laugh out loud when you are reading it. There are so few books that can do that and tell a good story at the same time. Stephanie Plum is at it again and better than ever. I definetly recommend this book to any woman who has ever had an interesting fantasy like being a bounty hunter.

Summary: character over plot
Review: If you enjoy shmoozing with some of your favorite characters, you will enjoy Seven Up. Yes, we have come to love Stephanie,
Grandma Mazur, Ranger, Joe Morelli, and all of the other quirky
characters who seem to end up at our favorite funeral home.
Evanovich once again gives us a treat...and how do all of those
people keep sneaking into her apartment when she is away? I enjoy including her into a serious read every once in a while. They have become my friends. You might want to try Joan Hess and her Maggody series of books. They contain the same kind of
off-beat characters, only set in the South. Once again, the plot
becomes secondary to the delightful character depictions. Start
from the first one to get the full effect.

Summary: Down and Dirty
Review: The raunch factor is WAY up in this seventh trip to the Burg. Even Grandma Mazur, fresh from an all-night date with an elderly beau, describes her evening out in a way that had this reader crossing herself along with Mrs. Plum. And I am not a Catholic!

Nevertheless, I found plenty to howl at in this silly cartoon of a story. From Bob the dog (who loses a battle with some chicken chow mein) to Rex the hamster, to far-out Mooner (dude!)and his equally spaced-out pal Dougie to Lula, all my favorites are back and in fine fettle. Add to that mix the loathsome Joyce, Stephanie's arch rival, and Steph's newly separated sister, the perfect Valerie, and things get really interesting. Especially when quintessential housewife Valerie decides to...um...well, date a gender other than that of her husband.

The bad guys are equally hilarious. First there is Eddie DeChooch, half dead, almost blind, hard of hearing--and armed. (The scene where he accidentally "murders" an icon in the church had me in hysterics.) Stephanie is trying to nab DeChooch as part of her bounty hunter job, but frail as he is, DeChooch manages to escape her clutches. Eddie's younger cousin Ronald lusts after Stephanie...and anybody else he can find. A pair of fifth-rate mobsters, Vinnie and Benny, are tailing Stephanie for no reason that anyone can see. But they're great with the grape jelly. And Stephanie? Well, she's still trying to decide between Morelli and Ranger--while trying on wedding dresses.

All this makes for another side-splitting romp, complete with a mud-wrestling scene that can't be missed. However, if you are offended by profanity and bedroom humor, it may be best to skip this one. I found this one of the funniest yet, and am positively frothing at the mouth (like Bob the dog when he's eaten several pizzas) in anticipation of Book Number Eight.

Hurry up, Steph!

Summary: Hilarious
Review: This was a great read. Just when you think Grandma Mazur has pulled her wildest stunt, driving her red Corvette, she tells you about her cheap thrill on the back of a Harley! Look forward to the next antics of Stephanie, Lula, Vinnie and Grandma Mazur.

Debbie Mazar & Lori Petty are fine actressess and

Summary: Damn skippy
Review: Warning!!! - Reading these books in public will cause strange stares as they are hilariously laugh out loud funny.

I have read all of Stephanies wild, wacky & laugh out loud adventures. They have been lent out to all my friends & work colleages who can not wait for the next installment. In fact one of my friends has suggested that we kidnap Janet to ensure another book is written.

Stephanie lives in a surreal world where anything & everything can & does happen to her. These characters become your friends & foes. Will it be Joe or Ranger? Is it love or lust? What will Grandma do next? Will Vinnie get caught any uncomprimising positions with animals(yuk yuk) Is Stephanie destined to drive her Uncles 53 Buick forever?

I guess we will all have to wait till the next book.

Summary: Been there, done that
Review: The Stephanie Plum series is really fun. Trenton is portrayed as a scrufty tough as nails place with heart. The plot keeps you going. This book, however, was too much like past adventures. We go to Stiva's Funeral Home with Grandma Mazur for the viewings. Everyone, but everyone, has a gun. Stephanie is hot for Joe Morelli and Ranger. Her car gets it again. The FTA's are slipperier than greased pigs. This stuff has been happening for too many books. I must admit, some of Bob the dog's outings had me laughing out loud. But we've already read this book. Time to freshen up the series.

Summary: Hot and Humorous
Review: Stephanie Plum, inept bounty hunter and New Jersey fashionplate, is having trouble nabbing her latest skip. Eddie DeChooch, an elderly criminal suffering from depression, keeps slipping through Plum's grasp. This wouldn't be a huge problem except DeChooch seems to be involved with a cigarette theft ring, the Mob, several kidnappings and murder.

In the latest humor/mystery by Janet Evanovich, Plum continues to land in a mess of trouble. Her stoner friends seem to have disappeared. Her mother thinks she's getting married to her sometime-boyfriend, vice-cop Joe Morelli. Two guys keep breaking into her apartment and doing the dishes. And then there's Ranger, a dark and sexy colleague who's offered to help her catch DeChooch, but only if she promises to spend the night with him -- a prospect that's playing hell with her hormones and conscience.

Plum has been a bounty hunter in the 'Burg for seven books now, and she seems to become less capable with each story. Her errors place her in harm's way, but these situations never feel truly dangerous. Instead, she bounds from one screwball moment to another, meeting a host of interesting characters along the way.

Plum's love triangle between Morelli and Ranger heats up again, and both men seem appealing in their own way. Normally I'd be rooting for Morelli, but in this book, he seems to have become even more Italian than normal; he's constantly urging her to give up her job and just become his wife. Unfortunately, his
reasons never seem to include that fact that he's in love with her. Ranger, on the other hand, makes his interests quite clear, he wants her body, and damn if her body doesn't react with the urge to comply.

Favorite characters from past books return, including ex-hooker Lula (who has a great scene at a mud wrestling bar) and Grandma Mazur (who is forever peering into caskets at the local funeral parlor). Plum's "perfect" sister from California also makes an appearance, and manages to bring along some interesting antics of her own.

The dialogue in "Seven Up" fairly crackles with each exchange, leaving the reader laughing so hard that gasping for air is necessary. The plot is fairly predictable, but the "heart" of the story does add a neat twist near the end.

Evanovich has a talent for light-hearted mysteries. Plum is far different from her female contemporaries (such as Sue Grafton's headstrong Kinsey Malone and Patricia Cornwell's tough-as-nails Kay Scarpetta) in that she doesn't always have every situation under control. Readers won't mind though. The change of pace
is not only hysterical to read, but offers some much needed, light-hearted fare.

Summary: Stephanie is back--zanny as ever
Review: When incompetent bounty-hunter Stephanie Plum sets out to bring in a seventy-something mobster, she thinks her biggest problem will be from her grandmother--who has been dating him. No such luck. Eddie DeCooch vanishes into New Jersey's 'burg' and Stephanie is left empty-handed. Except that there's something more serious going on and before she knows it, her druggie friends have vanished too.

If you haven't discovered Stephanie Plum, you're in for a treat. Expect wild, crazy, and very funny and author Janet Evanovich delivers. To some extent, Evanovich has toned down SEVEN UP compared to the last few Plum novels. But that's only a relative term--there's plenty of zanny left. In fact, I found this an even more enjoyable blend than the last few.

If you don't follow all of the mystery, don't worry about it. What makes a Stephanie Plum novel work is Stephanie's relationships with her parents, her wild grandmother, the two men in her life, and the wacky neighbors and co-workers who make up her life.

Will Stephanie finally settle down with Joe, or will she go overboard and sleep with Ranger? Will her sister find happiness outside of her once-perfect marriage by becoming a bounty hunter or a lesbian? Will her grandmother finally give Stephanie's father a heart attack?

I laughed out loud and devoured the novel (like Bob the dog devours chinese food) in a single sitting.

I appreciate your 'helpful' vote.

Summary: Laugh Out Loud
Review: I recently discovered the Stephanie Plum series. I've laughed through all seven in just a short time -- and I can't wait for No. 8! I highly recommend starting with the first book and reading in order. Stephanie is witty, smart and very lucky. I love the characters in the story -- Grandma Mazur, Morelli, Ranger, Lula, and especially Rex....they could almost be real people (except for Rex, the hampster, of course). I like that she doesn't always do the predictable and that the plot takes lots of unusual and interesting detours. Seven Up leaves us in suspense about her loves and lusts. I'll be lining up to buy No. 8 so I can find out -- does she or doesn't she repay her "debt"?
