Rating: Summary: Another winner! Review: Oh Janet, Janet, Janet. Why do you do this to us? Another cliffhanger and we have to wait for what seems like forever before we (think we) know the outcome. I love reading this series. Mysteries are my favorite type of book, but I also love the humor and far out characters in all of these books. I found myself laughing out loud (or LOL in internet speak)at some of the descriptions and situations. Keep up the good work but please - WRITE FASTER!
Rating: Summary: eight is enough? Review: although there are some funny moments and ms plum's character is still very entertaining, the author has crossed the line from funny and entertaining to vulgarity. i sincerely hope she'll refrain from repeating this in her next book, or eight will definitely be enough.
Rating: Summary: Rockin' and Rollin' in Trenton..... Review: Stephanie Plum, bounty hunter from hell, is trying to bring in Eddie DeChooch, a semi-wiseguy who got nailed trafficking contraband cigarettes and missed his court date because, he says, he's depressed. Picking him up shouldn't be that hard. He's almost eighty (Grandma Mazur won't even date him), practically blind and is driving around in an easy to spot, white cadillac. Unfortunately, he's also carrying a gun and likes to use it and after being shot at several times, Stephanie figures she's going to need some help bringing him in and turns to her mentor, Ranger. Ranger's more than happy to oblige, but wants a little payback in the form of one long night, in bed. What's a girl to do? She needs the help, big time, needs the money, car payment due and in all honesty, Ranger is hot! But then so is Joe Morelli, her now fiance, sort of, and she's not so sure she wants to screw that up. If that's not enough, potheads Dougie and Mooner go missing, two old goons, also looking for DeChooch are continually breaking into her apartment wanting information she doesn't have, perfect sister Valerie's husband runs off and Val comes home to Trenton bringing her two not so perfect children with her and Bob, the wonder dog, is eating just about everything in sight..... Janet Evanovich is back with a high speed, manic romp through Trenton that will have you rooting and cheering for Stephanie, all the way. Her marvelously unique cast of characters are wacky, quirky and larger than life and her scenes, vivid and doubled over, laugh out loud funny. But it's her crisp, witty writing and unrivaled dialogue that really makes this book stand out and nobody does it better. Even though the plot is a bit thin and some of the antics and thrills (another car disaster, another cliff hanger ending...) overdone and getting tiresome, it just doesn't matter because spending time with Stephanie and company is, as always, pure joy. For those new to the series, begin with One for the Money and read them all. For those who are already fans, you won't be disappointed this time out...it was worth the wait!
Rating: Summary: A Long-Awaited Disappointment Review: Don't get me wrong - I have been a devoted Janet Evanovich/Stephanie Plum fan since her first book in the series. They are absolutely my favorites! However, after all the hype, in my opinion Seven Up fell far short of her others -- it didn't even sound like Janet, but rather someone else plugging in the formula and spitting out a plot. I will anxiously await the next book in hopes that Janet will be back.
Rating: Summary: Stephanie's at it again Review: Wow, This was a great book. I have read all of these books by Janet and this one had me in stiches. If you liked all the rest you will love this book. Stephanie's got her hands full with Choochy. This by far is the funniest and well written book in the bunch. I can't wait un till the eighth one comes out.
Rating: Summary: Not fun like her other books Review: I found Seven Up to be too crude to be fun, especially with Beastiality comments. Too, too offensive. Also, story was not fleshed out well enough as in the first six books in this series. I LOVED her other Stephanie Plum books, which I have read with enjoyment at least twice.
Rating: Summary: Thumbs up on"Seven-UP" Review: Just another fantastic read by Janet E. I've been hooked on Steph since "One for the Money" and have never once been disappointed. I did notice that she seems a bit more mature in Seven UP....sure hope THAT doesn't last! Can't wait for Number Eight!
Rating: Summary: Plum Tuckered Out Review: This series has lost its umph because the formerly feisty heroine is more dazed and confused than her missing stoner buddies. I long for the Stephanie Plum who was smart enough to bring in a cop, quick enough to get the drop on the bad guy, and gutsy enough to take a lickin'and keep on tickin'. Seven Up has Ms. Plum making more mistakes than she did when she started bringing in FTAs, and she's more indecisive and weak willed than ever regarding her personal life. The heart and soul of this series has been reduced to a comic cliche along with her erstwhile suitors. Morelli's sizzling swagger and wit have been reduced a sorry side-step accompanied by whining about his almost fiancee's job. Their break-up seems contrived, and motivated primarily by the need set up the next cliffhanger. The intriguing character of Ranger has gone from likely superhero to unlikely villian as he plays let's make a deal for sexual favors. None of the main characters are likable in this seventh outting, leaving the weak mystery plot to stand on it's own. Books one through five were a delight. Seven doesn't appear to be a lucky number for the Plum gang or this formerly fanatic reader.
Rating: Summary: Loved it. Review: The second book in this series is still my favorite but I enjoyed #7 and hated for it to be over. Now to begin the wait for #8.
Rating: Summary: Disappointed! Review: Let me start off by saying that I was and still am an avid Janet Evanovich fan. But, I am greatly disappointed by this new book. And so are several others from the posts I've read on the Evanovich list I'm on. This book contains no new material and lessens on the old stuff. Joe and Ranger barely take part. And when they are there they just seem "token", not true. And, I miss the SEAL hat, fatigues, and that beautiful long hair of Rangers. No laugh-out-loud scenes. Grandma Mazur isn't even that funny! Dad barely has anything to do with family life. I'm tired of the cliffhangers! I think it's time Stephanie improved on her bounty hunting skills---she's been at it long enough. She needs some kind of weapon. Lula wasn't outragous. And, most disturbing was the total lack of sex scenes and/or the infamous thick sexual tension! Bummer!!! I feel very cheated after waiting and entire year for this... Don't get me wrong I still love Janet and am hoping that this was just a one time fluke! I am waiting for her next book (#8) to prove me correct!
