Summary: A Fun Read
Review: The latest in the series of Stephanie Plum novels, Seven Up, is a quick read and enjoyable. Mooner, the character introduced in the last installment, Hot Six, plays a bigger role in Stephanie's life and he is an amusing character, "Dude" being about all he contributes to the dialog. Joe Morelli, hunk cop and Stephanie's love interest, also plays a larger role as he and Stephanie toy with the idea of getting married. Grandma Mazur and Stephanie's mother enthusiastically encourage the wedding. Stephanie and her sidekick, Lula, have some amusing escapades especially while riding on a Harley Low Rider Hog.

Stephanie is on assignment to bring in an elderly semi retired mob member Eddie DeChooch. Eddie was caught smuggling cigarettes through Trenton and failed to show for his court appearance. Lula and Stephanie quickly find out that bringing in the old guy isn't going to be as easy as they thought. To complicate matters, Mooner and his friend Dougie The Dealer disappear sending Stephanie off trying to track them down and figure out the connection between DeChooch and her two goofy friends.

A Plum novel wouldn't be complete without the gorgeous and mysterious Ranger bounty hunter extraordinaire. Stephanie calls Ranger for help to bring in DeChooch and the heat is turned up on the relationship between Ranger and Stephanie with a very nice surprise at the end of the book that I'm sure readers have been waiting for.

The book was a fun read, although Seven Up did not deliver the laugh-out-loud lines and scenarios that previous Plum novels have, it was amusing. For readers who follow the Stephanie Plum series, this is a must read. For those who have not read any previous novels in the series, I would suggest starting with the first book, One for the Money and working through all the books in order. It's worth it, especially Four to Score, which is my favorite Plum novel and had me laughing to tears.

Summary: So-So
Review: I waited so long for #7 that I order the unabridged audio and the book. The lady on the audio was less than standard. Her Joe Morelli was laughable! Ruined the whole thing. All the characters were very nasally(?) So, I bought the book and started at Chapter 4. Finished it faster than the audio. I donated it to my local library so someone else can get disappointed too. As to the rest of the story, it was OK and Janet does it to us again at the end. She made Morelli look like a jerk and Ranger does not appear until way into the middle of the book. Next time I will wait for the library version.

Summary: Stephanie Plum is a hoot!..In "7" she chases her tail...
Review: or is it her tale?

I'll admit that the back and forth tale of "Eddie DeChooch" (what a great, completely New Jersey name!)gets a little long & drawn out, but the mystery in this takes a back seat to Evanovich's crazy cast of characters! What a treat to have Steph's dysfunctional sister and her two scary nieces to thicken the stew of crazies that populate this series!

Just when you think it is safe to be on the road again, Steph starts driving a motorcycle. And, the thought of her transporting "human" organs around in order to ransom her grandma tells you that Evanovich must stay awake at night to top the last book in the series with outrageous scenes.

I confess, I want it to be Morelli, but I'm OK with still having a love triangle carry us from book to book. But the best, oh yes, are the scenes at the Plum's dinner table, where Mom & Dad are constantly reeling from the things they learn from the various members of the family over pot roast. "Just kill me now", each of them contributes when they learn of the newest craziness from Grandma, Steph, and now Valerie.

Not in the least stale, but perhaps Evanovich has to expand her horizons a little more....(Stephanie visits California?), while always returning to the "burg". Great read!

Postscript: I have all 7 of the novels, but can never lay my hands on more than one, because I'm in a constant state of "lend" to friends. A sure sign of a winning series!

Summary: Well.......it's Stephanie...after all!!!!
Review: "Seven Up" was another predictable installment in the "Plum" series. I must admit: Grandma Mazur will always be tops on my list...as will Morelli and Lula. Stephanie..well...she's a mess. Her sister Valerie needs to take her kids and VANISH before the whole town of Trenton goes under. As far as Ranger...well...it would take alot for me to break down and pursue him. I think I'd stick to Morelli, personally. I am sooo anxious to read the next book.

Summary: All Right Stephanie Plum!!
Review: The story behind this ex-lingerie retailer turned bounty-hunter keeps getting better and better. Now, she deals with murderous FTAs (failure to appear in court folks) and the perfection of her estrange sister come home. If you don't know the series, start from the beginning, ONE FOR THE MONEY. Few authors deliver a moving story with a touch of fun: Nora Roberts, Sandra West Prowell, and a new author called Ann Mary Tempesta.

Treat yourself and guard against others wanting to "borrow" your copy. You will laugh and wonder how you ran out of read so quickly. No worries---Janet Evanovich is working on the next installment.

Summary: Seven Up Lacked Its Fizz
Review: I loved the first 4 books. Even High Five was a good read. They were witty and the plots were full of sexual tension and suspense. I was really pulling for ol' Steph to end up on top. The last two have been a disappointment. Stephanie's bungling is getting old; it's time for her to learn some of the things that Ranger has been trying to teach her. Grandma "ready to jump on anything that moves" Mazur is also getting to be too much of a focal point. This last book was way too much about Steph (and Grandma Mazur's desire for a) sex life and not enough about sleuthing. It wasn't until I got to the last 30 pages or so that I thought I was reading a detective story. Good ending, but as other readers have said, I, too, am getting tired of the cliff hangers. I promise I'll buy the next one even without a tease.

Summary: Not bad
Review: I will agree w/ others, this is not one of the best Plums on the tree, but it is definately funny (as usual). I read this book in a day and a-half. I was laughing so hysterically the first night that my husb asked if I was going to be okay. As usual, Steph and Lula get in some trouble, she kills another car, but ends up with a great ride.

The battle is still on between Ranger and Joe (I hope Ranger wins!) As usual, Grandma Mazur is just about the best character in the book.

It is a little long winded and I kinda got tired of the "who's got the heart", etc. But, it is a laugh a minute. If nothing else, it is a great beach read. Janet delivers again!

Summary: Cliffhanger!
Review: Ms. Evanovich does it to us once again .... cliffhanger. Seven up is definitely not the best in the series but it was a fun reading adventure just the same. I have enjoyed all previous Stephanie Plum novels and this one no less. I can't get enough of Stephanie, Morelli and Ranger as well as zany cast of characters. Looking forward to number 8.

Summary: Great Summer Read
Review: This book was fun to read and ideal for light summer reading. If you have enjoyed the previous books in this series you will love the way the characters once again do crazy things.

Summary: Seven Up From Six
Review: Is there anyone who is reading this series who hasn't read them all? Yes, probably the folks who started out with book six. If they had in-the-know friends, they went back to the source and laughed their way thru to book five, when the author started to send out signals that she was getting stale. Book six sent those signals into the red zone. But, for me, Evanovich pulled the needle back to black in Seven Up. Yes, the plot got too silly when we found out What Choochie Thought Dougie Really Had That Choochie Wanted Back, Now. But then Evanovich swung it around and finished with the kind of plotting we enjoyed in the earlier numbers. The ending gave me high hopes that the future of this sometimes very funny, well written series wasn't going to bottom out with Stephanie married to Joe, and Evanovich trying to write Unusual Mommie stories about a bounty hunter married to a vice cop in Trenton. Lula and I are both very clear on who we want to win that race. Bottom line, not excellent, but better. Worth the cost of admission.
