Summary: Hey Conservatives !
Review:
"bobs2371 from Spring, TX" writes
"I've noticed that the liberal reviewers all have two things in common. First, they hail from the same general parts of the country."

OK, let's see:
At the time I'm writing this there are 39 reviews posted; 29 of them are favorable, while 10 are unfavorable.
- The unfavorable reviews come from CA (2), KY, MA, MN, OH, NY City, WV & Ontario Canada (and "albertjlai" !?). That covers a lot of ground, doesn't it ?
- Out of the 29 favorable reviews, 19 were written by people living in New York state, 17 of them from the five boroughs of NYC. Pretty concentrated, no ? There are also favorable reviews from CA & MA, states you'll also find in the "unfavorable" category. So, I wonder what drew you to your conclusion ? See, this is a problem with right-wingers: they like to ignore obvious facts.

"Daniel Davis from Columbia, SC" writes
"In an age where liberal democrats are destroying the America we love".

Come again ? Which age are you talking about ? When was the last time the US had a liberal administration ? I hate to inform you, but the Clinton administration was not a liberal administration. It might have only looked that way from a narrow-minded, right-wing perspective. Ralph Nader is an example of a liberal, buddy, not Bill Clinton.

"Stephen Cords from Brockton, MA" writes
"The government as designed by our founding fathers did not include a responsibility to feed and clothe people who don't work by taking money from those who do."

Yes I agree, we need to put an end to corporate welfare.

"Jeff from Murphysboro, IL" writes
"(This) is a COMMON SENSE book, so all the liberals will not get it".

Jeff, perhaps you've forgotten that one of the Founding Fathers of this country was a RADICAL LIBERAL named Thomas Paine, who wrote a little pamphlet you might have heard of, called, guess what ?: Common Sense.

"tim_moyle@hotmail.com from Queens, NY" writes
"This book is great. I loved his argument against the claim that fighting terrorists in Iraq will create more terrorists: he points out that fighting Native Americans didn't create new Native Americans. (And he's right!)"

Considering that there were NO terrorists - of the al-Qaida sort - inside Iraq before the invasion/occupation and that now there are, I don't see how Smith is right. Besides, Smith is using a false analogy anyway.

"Cary L. Brown from Schaumburg IL" writes
"Are all the fact 100% accurate? Not sure... In any case, the arguments are given mainly as a general guideline to how to argue with a liberal, not specifically as a script"

Yes, who cares about accuracy ? The current administration doesn't, so why bother ? We should all heed the lesson of the Stalinists: veracity is secondary to "serving the cause".

"A reader from NYC, NY" writes
"Mark Smith has produced a well-written political manual (for those of us who don't really understand politics)."

Well, that says it all.

Summary: Enlisting in the Conservative Army
Review: "Feel like joining a conspiracy? If so, author Mark Smith has a deal for you: membership to the all- exclusive Vast Right Wing Conspiracy, or VRWC for short. Here, you will learn all the tricks of the trade that liberals use to press their agenda on the people. Membership is offered completely free of charge and all adults are welcome".

Author Mark Smith is a trial lawyer and conservative commentator and activist who wrote this book as a way of arming conservatives with the necessary ammunition needed to confront and defeat liberal arguments on a wide array of subjects and political topics. Each chapter (there are 28 in all) is short with brief responses to some of the more common liberal concerns about the environment, education, the war in Iraq, the death penalty, health care, affirmative action, abortion, and other issues.

Smith's performance is strongest when he is talking about economic issues, school choice, and a few other subjects. The reason he makes more sense in these areas is because he has statistics and facts to back up his claims. But in other areas, like the death penalty, abortion, the war in Iraq, etc., Smith doesn't really provide anything substantive to back his ideas. His attitude is arrogant, and he seems like he wants you to just accept his premises for the arguments as fact without any evidence to justify his claims. He seems to be saying "I'm right because I'm a conservative". For example, in the chapter on abortion, Smith immediately states that a human fetus is a person with full rights at the moment of fertilization. He includes one quote from another anti- abortion individual and that's it. There is no in- depth discussion about the topic. He just starts with his own premise, says it's true, and then moves on to the next part of his argument. He follows the same formula in other chapters, too.

One important point to remember is that what Smith describes in this book is actually his own brand of conservative. At no point does he suggest that Republicans adhere to every facet of the political idealism that he believes in. It's obvious, though, that he supports Republicans as the "lesser of two evils". But it's also obvious that he realizes the Republican party doesn't really practice what it preaches when it comes to fighting for "small" government. Republican administrations have expanded government at an even faster pace then their Democratic counterparts, and there is substantial proof to back this up. And even Mark Smith isn't necessarily against big government. He gives the reader the illusion in this book that he wants government to be limited, but then he babbles on and on about increasing the military budget, expanding the death penalty, and effectively launching a war against abortions. All of these measures involve large expansions in government spending and government power.

The Vast Right Wing Conspiracy Handbook has too many chapters and attempts to cover too many topics to be completely effective. Each chapter contains about 5 to 10 pages. There is no possible way to have an intellectual and thorough discussion of topics like abortion, health care, the death penalty, and other hot issues in such a small amount of space. In addition, the questions that are answered are far too basic. Smith avoids the really tough questions and sticks instead with those that are direct and simple to refute.

Overall, this book is inadequate as a tool to use against liberal arguments. It's far too simplistic and many of its arguments (like those dealing with the war in Iraq, Bush's electoral win over Gore, abortion, etc.) are weak and incomplete. I seriously doubt that a book like this will succeed in converting liberals over to conservative political ideology. It's ineffective, at best.

Summary: Politics Made Easy
Review: Mark Smith has produced a well-written political manual (for those of us who don't really understand politics) in short paragraph form - very educational, with lots of punch and jab political lines. Ladies, for the right to bear arms, it's all here for you!

Summary: Entertaining... and you've gotta love the Liberal reviews!
Review: Yes, the whole point of the title is humorous. There is no "right wing conspiracy," though sometimes I admit it'd be nice if there was more "conspiracy" between people on the right (since the left has developed conspiracy to an artform... just look at the fact that one of the 9/11 commissioners is, in fact, one of the people who THROUGH DIRECT ACTION restricted the ability of our intelligence agencies to do their jobs... and now she's supposely trying to "find the truth???")

The book was a fun read, with short words so even the most extreme leftist could actually comprehend it. Are all the fact 100% accurate? Not sure... though the only argument I've heard so far involved numbers of invertebrates versus vertibrates on the endangered species list. Wooo-hoo. In any case, the arguments are given mainly as a general guideline to how to argue with a liberal, not specifically as a script (unlike the typical "seminar caller" to conservative radio programs, who read from a prepared script as often as not).

The most entertaining part of the whole thing, though, is reading the reviews from those on the left, both here and elsewhere. Man, you know you've hit a nerve when the opposition is reduced to name-calling. Then again, it does seem that name-calling is the most substantiative element of liberal argumentation these days... c'mon, Mikey Moore calling ANYONE "stupid?" Anyone know the one about the pot and the kettle???

This book is not an exhaustive scholarly work, nor is it intended to be. It's a fun read for those of us who understand the reality of the world, and can see the humor in the fact that people who conspire against their own country (not all liberals, just the "elite" ones... you know, the leadership... who tell the "rank-and-file" what they're allowed to think and what they're not allowed to think) go around accusing other people of running conspiracies...

Summary: Simple rebuttals to liberal misrepresentations!
Review: This book is great. I loved his argument against the claim that fighting terrorists in Iraq will create more terrorists: he points out that fighting Native Americans didn't create new Native Americans. (And he's right!) If you're looking for other sophisticated arguments like this one to best Loony Liberals, you owe it to yourself to pick up this book!

Summary: The Left's secret is out with this one.
Review: When I first saw this book I thought it would be written by a Republican strategist and not a lawyer. I was even more amazed that this book is written to everyone and everyone needs to read this in order to understand what is being said versus what is actually being meant.

I remember hearing about the "Vast Right Wing Conspiracy" and how it was doing this and doing that, yet there was never any real evidence of this conspiracy. With the release of this book you get to see what Left is trying to say and what this Right is actually doing.

What this book exposes is the lies, obfuscations, demagogues and misleading statements and actions. The book also shows you what you need to do in order to stand up and be counted. The book is sort of the Conservative Self Starter talking points.

So for those who are in the Conspiracy or those who want to be or even those on the edge, this book will take you and guide you through the process.

Summary: Just as I thought
Review: I've noticed that the liberal reviewers all have two things in common. First, they hail from the same general parts of the country. Second, they all resort to name calling and using big words that they don't really understand. The bottom line, dear liberal friends, is that without you there would be no need for this book. As long as you keep saying silly things and patting each other on the back, there will be more and more of us who cross over to the right side. It's your own fault.

Summary: Liberals always make me giggle
Review: This book is smart, funny and to the point. It is a good book to read for those just entering basic conservatism 101. It is a COMMON SENSE book, so all the liberals will not get it. If you want to know the basic stances on what conservatives stand on then by all means get this book and read it NOW! Not only that but you get te become a member of the "The vast rightwing conspiracy" with a free membership card.

Thank you Miss Hitlery for giving us this group. I wear it proudly! Thank you Mr. Mark W. Smith for giving such a quick refernece book to the leftist loony's attacks

Summary: Vaster Moderate and Liberal Movement
Review: It's heartening that the book "MoveOn's 50 Ways to Love Your Country: How to Find Your Political Voice and Become a Catalyst for Change" is outselling this right wing diataribe by a lot. It shows that moderate and liberal Americans, who love their country, are finally standing up to the lies, misrepresentations, and distortions fed to them by the right wingers. By presenting the American people with the truth, they will finally liberate their country from the poison of right wing dogma.

Summary: Good but too short!
Review: Hmm. The loony liberals described in Smith's book are so nicely depicted by Amazon's own reviewers: from character assassins to those who prefer to replace Bush with a man whose strategy in the fight against terror seems to be to undermine his own country's security. Coincidence???

There is nothing in Smith's book that I disagree with, but it's not in depth enough. True it's only a handbook and Smith does provide a resource list at the end. Good quick read. Already used it against my in-laws' liberal family and they'll probably never invite me over again!!!
