Rating: Summary: Wrong Review: The book is a good read. Too bad much of the information is incorrect. For example, "Smashing Leftist Lunacy" says "my favorite--did you know that most of the 'animals' on the Endangered Species Act list are insects and invertabrates?". Which is not true at all. If you check yourself at the Federal Wildlife Service, (http://ecos.fws.gov/tess_public/TESSBoxscore) you'll see that out of 391 animals in the US and 516 foreign, only 148 are "insects or invertabrates" (clams/snails/insects/arachnids/crustaceans). The other 243 are Mammals/Birds/Reptiles/Amphibians/Fish. Almost 63% are something other than "insects or invertabrates". Of the 516 foreign animals on the Federal Endangered Species List, 426 are birds or mammals (82.55%)The whole book is like this. Quick sounds bites about facts and figures. But their facts and figures they quote are wrong and easily checkable. If you want to believe something that is wrong, buy this book and quote it. Be smart, read something else.
Rating: Summary: Read this and then listen to Air-America. Review: It's amazing how much sense this book makes. Growing up I always considered myself intellectual and freethinking liberal. I joined MassPIRG in college (Ralph Nader was a personal hero) and organized fund raisers for famine relief. Then I grew up, got married, had a couple of kids and all of a sudden the people I had associated with in college started looking a little kooky. I actually read The Constitution and discovered that there was nothing in there about making sure other countries around the world liked us. There is a clause guaranteeing freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion. The government as designed by our founding fathers did not include a responsibility to feed and clothe people who don't work by taking money from those who do. The military is there to protect us in times of peace and war; and maintaining a strong force in times of peace may have something to do with the peace continuing. Within the past two years I began listening to talk radio and agreed with more than I didn't. (I will never be referred to as a "ditto-head".) When Air-America came on I tuned in via the internet (no broadcasters in my area) and was shocked to hear nothing but character attacks, name-calling, and a complete lack of rational discussion. Just as was described in this book. Read this book and see how easy it is to pop holes in the opposition's arguments when all they have is a bag of hot air. After you finish this handbook, a copy of Stein's "How I Joined The Vast Right Wing Conspiracy And Found Inner Peace" would be a nice companion piece.
Rating: Summary: Proof that the Left is Never Right Review: Mark's book is a great. Brevity is the soul of all wit and this book details in a witty, concise fashion why conservatives believe what they do. It's a must read for everyone in this important election year...even for those on the "Looney Left" would benefit if they'd stop whining long enough to read the truth. The irony is for year's liberals-who have been spoon fed talking points by the DNC for years-have accused the right of being the masterminds of a grand conspiracy, but this is the first book of its kind. The truth is conservatives agree and present a united front on key issues, not because of talking points, but because they actually believe what they say and live what they believe. Mark's book shows the clear, consistent logic that permeates the conservative mindset in a format that is both informative and fun to read. Thank you Mark W. Smith!
Rating: Summary: crap Review: If Ann Coulter likes the book then you know it's crap. nuff said.
Rating: Summary: Read it as Entertainment Review: The cover is funny, some of the stories are funny, some of the logic is creative, but please put it in with your other humorous books. This is not political book it is psycho-babel. Is there a conservative even within a mile of the Whitehouse? Sadly not. Bush has mismanaged the budget, thrown open the borders to illegals, spent huge sums in this crazy airport program with the color codes, brought in an expensive prescription program, given the oil companies a free ride, jacked oil consumption and imports from the Middle East, and then spent $200 billion capturing that pathetic Saddam Hussein and killing many Americans and innocent Iraqi's - to free them. The alternative to this big spender Bush who spends all his free time chopping wood at the ranch (50 holidays pre 9-11 in his first year) is some real liberal Kerry, the most liberal senator in the US Senate. These guys make Clinton look good. It is dumb and dumber. Both are liberal. Jack in Toronto
Rating: Summary: Pay no attention to the 'loony left' reviewers! Review: Never before have I seen such an incredible and concise collection of all the classic 'loony left' arguments and the perfect counter arguments to them. In an age where liberal democrats are destroying the America we love, this book shines like a light of common sense and truth. Many people don't even realize that their political beliefs make no sense and many 'liberals' are actually just confused conservatives. Pay no attention to the few liberal democrat reviewers who's arguments were BLASTED off the playing field by this book and who's only recourse and hope for revenge was to come to Amazon and give the book a one star review. They are just the classic cliche of the ones who the truth hurt. This book is worth every cent of it's purchase price and more. Heck, I think the first 50 pages are worth the purchase price, much less the entire 250. And then once you blaze through it (because the way it is written is compelling) you will read it again to memorize the points made. And one of the great things about it is that you don't even have to read it; it's perfect for an 'open to a page and pick up' reading philosophy, because it changes tacts every page with bold subheadings. Buy it now. Don't listen to the leftists on this page who want to trash the book with terrible reviews for the sole purpose of keeping these arguments out of your hands.
Rating: Summary: Absolute rubbish Review: I guess this is right-wing "humor". I can't see Smith winning too many cases if this is the way he argues during legal proceedings. Smith's myopic arguments lack intellectual depth and are full of circular reasoning. A lot of "I think so because I think so." It's all just polemics. Compare this book to things like James Carville's "We're Right, They're Wrong" or the collection "The I Hate Republicans Reader: Why The GOP Is Totally Wrong About Everything" to see the differences in style between the two sides.
Oh, and to all those who are thinking of using material from this book to stump liberals during debates, I say: Yes, please do !
Rating: Summary: One of my favorite books ever! Review: Hands-down, one of my all-time favorite books! I just purchased this book earlier this week and I can't put it down -- in fact, I'm going to buy a couple of extra copies for friends and family. I randomly came across this book when a friend forwarded me a link regarding one of Mr. Smith's upcoming appearances, so I looked it up online. Intrigued, I bought it and boy, what an investment! All this knowledge bundled up in a neat little package for about $10. Not a bad deal... What I love about this book is that it lays out all the liberals' main arguments in a fun, easy-to-read format and then provides the reader with the conservative (and correct!) counter-argument, point by point. It's even got quick "talking points" at the end of each section so that you can remember the most important facts. Have you ever been at a party and been confronted by some quick-talking, angry liberal who makes no sense yet you can't remember that great fact you read last week in "Slander" that you know would just kill his argument? Well, if so, this book is your God-send. It's even got a helpful glossary in the back defining "who's who" in conservative writers/commentators, organizations, etc. LOVE IT!!! Note to the author: I just wish you would've inserted a little talking point about Castro -- liberals ambush conservatives with the "Castro has done great things" lie all the time and conservatives should always be ready to fire back with some truth in that department! Maybe for your next book... (then again, I'm not finished with this book yet so perhaps it's coming up!) If you don't have this book yet, BUY IT. You won't be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Smith Brilliantly Proves Existence of Right-Wing Conspiracy Review: Mark Smith provides all the facts a liberal needs to pound the truth into the steel-trap minds of the most zealous ditto-heads. Smith recounts the $50 million dollar Ken Starr "investigation" which was supposed to uncover all the corruption and evil of the Clintons, but which turned up nothing more than a stained dress and something about a cigar. He also presents impeccable details of the scandalous 2000 presidential election, convincingly asserting that Bush's younger brother in Florida and his cronies in the Florida legislature and the U.S Supreme Court managed to shamefully manipulate the system to steal the election from Gore. Smith's depiction of Cheney's secret meetings with oil company executives to formulate U.S. energy policy in the White House was especially chilling. Smith's incredible chronicle of how the republicans in congress succeeded in impeaching Clinton over an act of consentual sex should be required reading for all school children. Smith forcefully posits that the Bush administration's countless violations of the public's trust are far more worthy of impeachment, from his tales about WMD in Iraq, to his tales of charity work during his Air National Guard stint, to his tales of Kerry's 323,645 votes for tax raises, to his tales of creating 300,000 jobs in one month, to his etc.......
Rating: Summary: Third Reich Colors for Cover Review: There is a large industry for the right-wing loonies's books fueled by those like Rush Limbaugh, the brainwashing hypocrite bafoon. The laws just don't apply for these hypocrites who think they are above them all. These right wing extremists will never stop spreading misinformation, fear and using deception as their main tool to remain in power. That is their game, and they use naive Americans who trust them, to get their way at everyone's expense. This book belongs on the shelves of those who like trash poltical books of Ann Coulter and the like. There's a market for this stuff, and Mr. Smith knows it. A market for lies -- a market for trash at the expense of the world and its overall health. May these liars and frauds destroying our economy, futures and world burn in hell, and they can take this as one of their trash books with them!
