Summary: It's Not Just the Internet Anymore
Review: MoveOn's 50 Ways to Love Your Country is based on the model that MoveOn.org uses: connect people with similar values and let them do the rest.

The book isn't dogmatic, negative, or preachy. It's a collection of stories written by folks just like you. Some are big, some are small. But all of them invite you to take what you want from the experiences of progressives all over the nation.

This collection is especially valuable to that population which shares progressive values but doesn't identify with the term "activist." The stories included demonstrate that even the most politically inactive can do their part to support issues that they care about.

Critics of the left would do well to garner some advice from this book before condemning it. But then again, maybe they shouldn't.

Way to go, MoveOn!

Summary: America Can Now Wake Up and Take A Stand!
Review: The Motives behind MoveOn are clearly to empower the people of our great nation out of the stupor and hopelessness they feel among so many "rich" people who turn the other way when someone is in need.
This book gives vital tools to help anyone overcome and triumph over adversity by taking personal responsibility to create the changes that are vastly needed for themselves and all others, as opposed to just let our government take care of everything for us.
This book is a VITAL resource that puts each person back in charge of his or her own life, as well as to set an example of positive action to bring justice to where injustice previously prevailed, as another reviewer wrote earlier.
This is another book that has had an immeasurably positive impact on my life, and I am sure that it will help anyone who cares enough about themselves and all others to make a genuine difference. Highly Recommended!

Summary: I SIMPLY LOVE IT!
Review: Finally a book which engages it's readers beyond just words. Moveon.org's "50 ways to love your country" is a book which practically demonstrates the many actions a concerned citizen of this great land can do to help make a difference.

For example registering to vote to kick out George Dubya from the presidency, who has negatively hurt the position of the US in the eyes of our closest allies by fabricating WMD's links on invading and occupying Iraq.

That is just one of the many obvious yet overlooked ironies illustrated by this fabulous, concise book.

Summary: A NEW MODEL OF POLITICAL ORGANIZATION:
Review: This is a great book written by the people of a wonderful organization -- whose aim is to cut through the apathy of so many Americans and involve more people in the political process. All the negative reviews here are just from scared ideologues who are afraid that people will wake up and book the current useless administration. Go MOVEON.ORG!!!!

Summary: hand dandy guide
Review: MoveOn.org is a democratic organization. Of course, America has been somewhat lacking in democracy for so long that perhaps people don't realize it anymore, and would go ahead and call MoveOn a socialist organization.

I love how a guide to being a participatory citizen of America (you know, as a democracy is supposed to be), immediately is labeled as nonsense and socialist. Perhaps these people are afraid of claiming their power as American citizens? Or perhaps they are too blinded by their beliefs they haven't even read the book, they just know that MoveOn as an organization doesn't support their ideas, and therefore deserves only 1 star. Why don't they just use MoveOn's guidebook to promote their own agenda? MoveOn put it out there.

Shame on you.

Anyway, if you are interested in political activism, take this book up. However, it may offend political conservatives with only enough heart for themselves.

Summary: Political Viagra!
Review: This book really IS Political Viagra! It's every wannabe political activist's dream, full of fabulous success stories with practical advice about how to get things done. Highly recommended!

Summary: What A Wonderful Resource!
Review: Move On's book has done a great job of presenting examples of how ordinary folks can make a difference. It empowers the reader to take action themselves with lots of helpful tips and website addresses. It's a "fun read" and the kind of book you will want to keep handy to refer to again and again.

Don't listen to the negative naysayers who obviously haven't read this wonderful little book. If they had, they would be happily applying its ideas to advance their causes and recommending it to all their friends!

Summary: Inspiring stories and an excellent resource tool
Review: Over the past few years, whenever conversations turn to politics, MoveOn is always mentioned as having a great positive impact. This book chronicles many of those episodes.

In addition to the inspiring stories of those whose lives were changed by their political action through MoveOn, this book is an excellent resource listing of other organizations and websites for anyone interested in progressive politics or community action. I highly recommend it!

Summary: Practical and inspiring
Review: Wow, what a great book. I just finished this cover to cover and am inspired to go out there and change the world! I always thought that involving myself in politics was useless and now I understand why people do it...it matters! I don't consider myself political in any way, but some accounts in this book are by people who are not "political", but moved to action due to a situation in their life. They are all so moving and the best part is that MoveOn adds tips after each essay which makes for a practical, must-read for any American.

Summary: Important, Deeply Inspiring and A Fun Read Besides
Review: The best thing about all the stories in this book is that they are true. If you've every wondered what real democracy looks and feels like when it flowers in contemporary America, this book provides at least 50 different examples.

I thought it was just as fun to meet the people telling the stories as to hear their insights.

I hope that this is one of those books that leads each person who reads it to make their own, personal, enjoyable statement as a citizen activist. Our stepping out beyond the phony Coca Cola patriotism of the Bush administration into something real and authentic is not only life affriming, but critical to America at this time, IMHO. It may not always be easy, but this book shows that you will be rewarded in ways you could never have imagined.
