Rating: Summary: Christians can't even associate with the Boy Scouts Review: What's our world come to when a self-described Christian can't even freely associate with The Boy Scouts without being unduly upbraided by the liberals for his/her faith? I'm a Boy Scout troup leader and I know exactly where Mr. Limbaugh is coming from. They want to jam their atheist viewpoint down our throats, but we, on the other hand, are denied our freedom of association and religion granted us by the 1st Amendment. Heathen violence in cartoons is condoned by the Left, but Christians in the form of vegetables is evil. Go figure.
Rating: Summary: Didn't Falwell Already Cover This Ground? Review: Every page of this book falls apart when you ask simple, common sense questions. For example, there is the unfortunately predictable "why can't we pray everywhere?" approach used once again. All that has to be done to unravel this mirage of serious debate, is to ask an obvious question like "would you support a muslim prayer before school, or at sporting events?". The predictable answer comes back, and it becomes all too clear that the supporters of this line only want the freedom to pray to the "Christian God", to the exclusion of everyone and everything else. The foundation logic of this book is so flimsy it cannot even support the house of cards this text aims to be. If Christians want to run the show to the exclusion of non-Christians; then yes! in a multicultural society you are, and should be persecuted.
Rating: Summary: Why aren't we listening? Review: This is not the first book to forewarn Christian Americans about the public education system and the court systems doing their utmost to make sure Christians are persecuted and made to feel ashamed of our religion. But, how many more books and judicial declarations will it take before we stand united and take action? I don't mean paying money to PAC's either. How about simply voting for a candidate that doesn't offer lip service but actions and doesn't proclaim to be Christian because they attend church but act as Christians? I have never seen more people give up there civil rights in order to be inoffensive than I have noticed within the last four years. Political correctness and false guilt have been our downfall for years. The real downfall is in our silence and our blind following as sheep being led to the slaughter. This book confirms what many of us know, others of us will deny, and many will apathetically ignore. It should scare the hell into all of us. Don't elect another Arkansan. They are the worst followers and the best blind sheep around.
Rating: Summary: Poor Wittle Kristians Review: Anytime you do not follow lockstep with the so-called Christians who spew nothing but racist hatred and homophobic bile then you are "trying to wipe out Christianity." Oh Puhleez! Yeah, those Christians sure have it rough don't they? Hate to break it to Mr. Limbaugh but Jesus was a liberal, too. Oh Lord, save me from your followers.
Rating: Summary: No Doubt Anymore Review: Author David Limbaugh spent years researching for this book and has turned out a product that definitely lives up to its name. Whatever your denomination or political persuasion, you will be stunned by some of the facts recorded in this book, especially since they are events happening in a society which claims to be tolerant and pluralistic. This is solid evidence that a malicious agenda is definitely there, and lately it has not been afraid to show its true colors. If you want further evidence, all you have to do is scroll up and read Amazon's editorial review! Typically, many liberals are reading the book and downplaying the gripes of Christians. Yet they will bend over backwards if the complaints are coming from gays, lesbians, minorities, women or others from the "special interest" sector. They are very selective in their compassion. And once again, Christians are "blowing it out of proportion." When the media interviewed David Limbaugh on his book, he was told he was going to have to defend the position of his work, which is not usually done when discussing an author's book. Instead of an interview, it was more like an attack. Again, they made it pretty clear where they stood on the issue. And Limbaugh was automatically treated unfairly purely because of his subject matter. Well, all the better. At least now the battle lines are clearly drawn.
Rating: Summary: Too Little, Too Late? Review: Limbaugh focuses on the unraveling of influence that Christians within the United States have in society focusing on the separation of church and state through the academic-government complex. He may have provided too little, too late. He does alert the read to a dangerous and subtle shift in persecution as it does document the attitude change of tolerance, a major Christian attribute hijacked by social forces for their own agenda, to the political requirement of acceptance, most of which he cites over the past 12 years. The shift from religious tolerance to political acceptance and religious rejection is similar to what happened in other countries adopting socialist and worse models as he points out. But with acceptance is a certain amount of rejection and Christianity bears most of the burden in that respect. Dismantling Christian influence was not just confined to academic-government forces. In addition, the media-entertainment complex is accorded one chapter, far too small for their influence in society from the small, articulate and potent voices of people who watch or imitate. With tolerance accorded to history, one only has to wonder when acceptance, too, is accorded a place on the dung-heap of values that were not defended or treasured. The requirement of acceptance is now the standard which can be seen in California where the governor recently gave illegal aliens a regular driver's license and "domestic partners" all the rights and privileges possible except that of marriage. Given the slide from tolerance to acceptance of everything and anyone except Christianity, perhaps this book should be noted as being PERSECUTION USA, Vol. 1. I look forward to seeing Volume 2 in the near future.
Rating: Summary: Delusional, Another Tedious Christian Tract Review: I resent being lumped in with the devil when the author says, .."they are legion..", meaning anyone who doesn't agree with his views. Christian fundamentalists will be fine, though, as long as they don't devolve into witch-burning. Most of them are merely bad theater. The tiger pictured on the cover probably has more innate wisdom than the writer of this paranoid propaganda. Score one for the cat!
Rating: Summary: Heard it all before Review: I have lived in the bible belt (western mountains of NC to be more exact) all of my life and can tell you that I have been fired from jobs and have been given failing grades in school because I'm not a Christian. I very much see the reasoning behind seperation of church and state. Where I live if you mention such a horrid thing as hiring someone even though they're not Christian, then you are ostracized from the community. Needless to say, I've learned to keep my blasphemous mouth shut and go about pretending that I'm Christian just so I can have chance at a normal life. This type of behavior is not just confined to my small city of 500,000, either. It is a way of life all through the southeast. Almost every paved road, that isn't a strictly residential area, has several churches on it. And on Wednesday nights and and all day Sunday, they are all packed. And these people go listen about acceptance and unconditional love, but then come out and and spread hate all week. Books like this disgust me. This is like a member of (a certain group) coming out with a book saying that they have been beaten down for their views, and think that it's time someone wakes up and see how badly they are treated and looked upon. There just might be a reason that some people don't have much tolerance for Christians.
Rating: Summary: Book: poorly written, over-simplifies issues, insulting. Review: This book is one of the worst I have ever read in my life, I cannot believe its on a best-seller list. The only reason I actually could justify for giving it 1 star (which I have too.) is that its Dust Jacket was extremely clever. (The author clearly didn't design it.) He rants against liberals who he claims despise christianity. Yet most of the liberals he describes are in fact christians. His view of liberalism, isn't the same as those held by most of the christians, even the fundamentalist christians I know. My fundementalist christian friends are all very upset with the republican party. He also seems to be very ignorant of the establishment clause of the first amendment. Not only is his writing ignorant. It is the largerst self righteous filfth I have read since the left behind series. This exceeds it. He is clearly showing hate through out the book which I have always thought was not considered a christian value.
Rating: Summary: I'm glad someone finally wrote this book! Review: I am relieved that someone finally wrote an accurate discription of the religious situation in the United States. He explains the secularization of America over the past 150 years (which no reputable historian could refute) -- the public schools, media, pop culture, and more....
