Summary: ugg
Review: Leave aside the inanity. Leave aside the knee-jerk, run with the herd conservatism. Leave aside that this author is clearly just another neandrathal yearning for the days when there were no problems in the world (i.e. in the world where straight, white, middle and upper-class men ruled and agilely repressed anyone and everyone else. It's kind of like wishing you were the Pharoah, or fought in the Crusades. It can be a fun fantasy, but y'know, we all have to live in the century we were born to.)

All of that left aside, the book is just a rant and a waste of money. Nothing you couldn't get for free on a radio program. While I usually disagree with the conclusions drawn by political conservatives, I respect the fact that their arguements can, in many cases, be cogent and fact-based. If you really want to read conservative dogma, there are a host of better writers. Don't throw away your time and money on this one.

Summary: Common Sense
Review: When a liberal or a lefty cant win an argument on the merits of there position, they resort to insults and slander, look no further than the negative reviews for this book. I'll buy any book by a conservative, because if they sell better than liberal authors, eventually publisher's may drop the non-profitable lefty authors.

Summary: Savage Stupidity...
Review: Michael Savage has just as much right to be as ignorant as he wants. That does not mean, however, he should force it on people, as he does with this uneducated garbage that passes itself off as factual. Mediocre, bland, and more of the same stuff you would get from Ann Coulter, and she barely manages to be slighly more entertaining than this vainglorious, over-opinionated, under-talented, right-wing pseudo-intellectual blowhard hack.

Summary: Who's filled with hate?
Review: I find it interesting that those who support this man and his book call any who don't agree 'hate mongers', yet they are the ones filled with anger. They are the ones using hateful rhetoric, for example saying that 'liberals' are more dangerous than al quaeda. Excuse me? Who bombed the world trade center? Was it liberals? Please people, you really hurt your own cause with all this hate and anger. Why can't you see that WE ARE ALL TRYING TO DO WHAT WE BELEIVE IS RIGHT, no matter how misguided some people are. I just hope that eventually those who claim to follow Jesus will actually act on that beleif rather than just spout it and come to love ALL their fellow man. Judge NOT lest ye be Judged! Go back to church and don't come out until you've learned something.

Summary: None like it in this genre
Review: From the book,"America is hungry for a book that reinforces patriotism, family, and traditional American values. Radio talk show host Michael Savage argues this viewpoint offering an insightful approach to reclaiming and preserving the nation's heritage." This book comes out when America is at its neediest; when Americans are prepared for war at the hilt of economic recession;when Americans need this book the most it's here. I recommend an inspirational book called Dreams by Belcher. It grabs the attention of those of us who are in need of inspiration since 9-11.

Summary: Extremism Distilled
Review: The basic aim of this book, and the author's radio talkshow, is to air reactionary views and label them as conservative. The aim of the book is to increase morality, attack immorality, boost patriotism, and generally clean up American culture.

Is there anything wrong with any of that? Absolutely not. But, there's a difference between means and ends. Patriotism would be higher if some of the social ills attacked in the book were taken care of. However, the means delineated in the book would be counterproductive, inflammatory, and divisive. As with most extremists, Michael Savage does more harm to his espoused cause than good, and gets in the way of true conservatives, who seek rational, feasible, and productive ways to address social problems.

Summary: Daddy, why do people have to be so extreme?
Review: "Why is it that whenever a fair-minded person expresses a view or an opinion, the conservative right declares it to be LIBERAL? Yet, when conservatives express an opinion, they demand EVERYONE accept it without reservation. Seems to me that it is conservatism that is unaccepting, intolerant, and incapable of accepting other opinions and views other than their own. Any thought that deviates from their own is branded LIBERAL."

That's from a 1-star review. Reverse the words "liberal" and "conservative" in that last paragraph and you will have a good example of some of the 5-star reviews here.

Nature loves balance, and this book helps achieve that, so it is good for something. It balances out the ultra-left-wing liberal junk with its ultra-right-wing conservative junk. There's some good on both sides and the truth, as always, lies somewhere between.

Oh, and you will soon find this book at the top of the bestseller lists. Don't believe it. The New York Times Book Review wisely lets us know when bulk orders are artificially boosting sales. This book has a notation to that effect.

Summary: Unoriginal and as boring as a bus ride through the Bronx
Review: Ho hum. Even with the help of the team of editors and ghost writers who worked to prop this up, this book is unprovocative and boring. I was hoping for some reactionary prose that would at least amuse me or make me think, but all I found was the same divel... Not very interesting.

Summary: Borders, Language, Culture - A Winning Team
Review: Folks, this is one book that I feel should be required reading from ages 16 to 99! The author, Dr. Michael Savage, knows what he's writing about and shares his experiences and knowledge with the readers. Don't be frightened by the title. It is a clean and informative, while very interesting book. No, this isn't a difficult read at all. This book inspires us to treasure the freedoms we have, rethink our values, and help us put daily life in the United States into prospective.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: And the knowledge of the truth shall set you free!
Review: This is real simple. If you love America, mom and apple pie, you will love this book. If you are a liberal idiot, you'll hate it. This book is a great road map for the conservative movement. We have largely been discarded by the major political parties and the media mis-represents us. This book is now #1 on the New York Times best seller list after three weeks of printing. I find it amuzing that all of the liberal attempts to stop this book from being a hit have totally failed.
