Rating: Summary: BUY IT AND READ IT EVERY DAY Review: Buy this book. Read this book every day. If you think it is "hate speech," you are an enemy of this nation. If you are turned off by his bombastic radio personality, buy and read this book. If you are a fan, buy and read this book. Michael Savage is brilliant, and this book proves it. Borders, language, culture...If you don't get it, I propose that you swim to Cuba.
Rating: Summary: Smarts, Power, Emotion, and Accuracy: The Legacy of Savage Review: Accuracy, comes as no surprise from a man with as much scientific education, experience, and expertise as his, though many books are more carefully footnoted, and powerful points are to be expected from the man who calls himself Savage, and enthusiasm is cheap and blind, but the beauty of this book is in its wisdom and its honest display of the full range of human emotion. Understand first that Savage lives in San Fransicko, ground zero for the social pollution you get when you invite every kind of diversity but that intellectual. He sees all kinds all around him here and this is what allows him to understand the true nature of liberalism: he lives in amidst its heart. From this he gains an understanding of the human condition and that it can not be transcended. Once this is gained, he is free to look at current events through the lens of his understanding and provide a vision of the past, present and future tailored to the needs of the nation. This is the significance of the book's beauty: that masses of America's hardcore and the wavering alike will be enlightened and motivated by the points, stories, and emotion, whitch supports logic instead of contradicting it, all contained between the covers of this book.
Rating: Summary: Attn conservatives : please stop whining Review: Is this guy's 15 minutes up yet? Just read the book and I have come to the conclsuion that the talk radio conservatives have become the nation's biggest whiners. Thier mantra: blame the media, blame the gov't, blame the education system - basically blame everyone but themselves when things don't go just thier way. Guess what? The act is tired and has worn really , really thin. Thankfully- as evidenced by books like this -the idea of the talk radio flavor of the month whiner has offically worn out its welcome on the rest of us. You remember us; we're the real americans everywhere that are too busy working to call some silly talk show and stroke the egos of guys like this. My review is not a blanket slam on conservatives - there are plenty of good writers out there of every political bent- sadly, this book is not by one of them.
Rating: Summary: Conservatives can do better. Review: My conservative mother recently received Savage's book from an ultraconservative friend of hers. Falling to the left of the fence on many issues myself, I'm usually amused by the empty rhetoric that some on the right seem to have a special knack for. However, not being familiar with Savage, I picked up the book to see what he was all about and I didn't have to get far. I read aloud to my mother a Savage quote on the back of the book jacket that went, "The al-Qaida network is not America's most dangerous enemy, to fight only the al-Qaida enemy is to miss the terrorist network operating within our own borders. Who are these traitors? Every rotten, radical left-winger in this country, that's who." Does this guy really believe this stuff? Does anyone take this as an intelligent, perceptive, meaningful analysis of our society? I wasn't surprised. Like I said, empty rhetoric that's meant to sell books not leave people with an informed view of the issues. To my conservative mother's credit, she agreed and without my suggestion she resolutely declared that she'd return the book for something a little more intellectual.
Rating: Summary: DEMOCRATS EXPOSED!!!!! Review: bought the book, love it!! exposes the crooked democrats, and the fact that they are trying to tear this country apart with all of thier segregationist groups and turn it into a communist socialist state!! makes you want to think twice about turning on the tube to watch the leftist media brainwash you to get your vote!! a MUST READ!! WE AMERICANS ARE ALL EQUAL, AND SHOULD BE TREATED SO. Land of the free, Home of the brave.
Rating: Summary: The Savage Nation Review: This is one of the best, to the point books I've read. It is timely & to hell with political correctness. P.C. is ruining this country. Michael tells it like what most people think. He presents his opinions, in the book & on his show, with as much intellectual clarity as anyone around. In the last 12 months I've read most of them. Ann Coulter comes close but still not as clearly as Michael. Michael must keep his passion. It's very important. I can't wait to listen to his show tonight re: C-Span & all those enemies they covered. Where was the coverage with the Patriots. Excellent & important book. Thanks, L.H.
Rating: Summary: Another manifesto Review: Savage is the latest opportunist to turn the right wing mantra into money for himself: by writing a book that says every problem in America is the fault of liberals, foreigners, women, intellectuals, homosexuals, poor people, and people of color. Savage (how ironic--a name that suits the person perfectly) tells us that hate is indeed a family value, while appealing to the most base (and baseless) fears of conservatives. He gives simple answers to difficult questions, ala Rush, Ann Coulter, and Sean Hannity. So, if you're looking for someone to blame because your life isn't what you want it to be, this would be a good book with which to start your collection. It'll give you so many different people to hate you won't know where to begin. Happy reading!
Rating: Summary: Unconvincing and poorly researched Review: Savage's book is a poorly-written and ill-researched rant constructed to appeal to the uneducated, disenfranchised, wife-beating lowest-common denominator. I had hoped to gain insight about contemporary American conservatism, but this book did not deliver. Ultimately, reading this book wasn't at all worthwhile. If you are compelled to read it, try to find a copy at the library...I really wish I had passed on this book and bought a steak dinner instead.
Rating: Summary: The guts to tell it like it is! Review: This book is great and really sums up what I've been enjoying about Michael Savage for the 5+ years I've listened to him here in San Francisco. You have to admire his guts in telling things the way they are. We need more folks like Savage to cut through the Politically Correct nature of the national debate. Let's not forget what made this country great. As Savage reminds, those who don't remember history are doomed to repeat it. We have to keep America from falling like the Roman Empire did centuries ago.
Rating: Summary: Yawn - can't I give 0 stars ? Review: Boring drivel from right wing. Too bad people like this are allowed freedom of speach - As the president select GWBush said "There should be limits on freedom." We need to eliminate this type of stupidity. Trust me - don't pay any attention to the mindless drones that read sh!t like this. It's time to take back the right controlled media.
