Rating: Summary: As a conservative... Review: I was appalled by this book. I have always felt that the most important weapon held by conservatives is a mantra based on fact. Blind emotionalism and demagoguery should be relegated to leftist rhetoric. Unfortunately, Savage is guilty of the very things that should distinguish him from his leftist counterparts. The book is poorly written and verbose. His "research" is terrible, and his diatribes seem more emotional than based in fact. For old-school conservatives, this book can be viewed as an example of the downhill direction many present-day "conservatives" are going and the appalling lack of intellectualism or even well-stated or supported analytical arguments in the movement. As a primer for young conservatives, this book is quite simply destructive. This sort of verbal diarrhea is doing more damage to the conservative movement than anything Clinton, Moore, or Zinn could dream up.Save yourself the $$ and time and pick up a copy of Goldwater's The Conscience of a Conservative at a used bookstore. It is a well-written, concise analysis of what conservatism should be all about.
Rating: Summary: Blah... Review: I give Michael Savage credit for taking advantage of his rights of free speech to the fullest extent, but this book fails to deliver much. It is filled with an excessive array of various liberal slurs, failed attempts at debasing entire arguments with extreme and absured examples of them that are not representative of the norm, and constant insistance that anything left of center is communist and therefore evil. This is a manifesto of the extreme right for the witch-hunt against the "evil" leftists. Boring...
Rating: Summary: give me a break ... Review: Read this book after having read "The Death of the West". If anything i learnt that we have variety even among bigots. Long live diversity!!! While this particular bigot seems to make exceptions for immigrants from particular countries ( Japan, India ), the bottom line is the same. "They" are the problem! The definition of "they" differs. As an Indian, there was an instant when i felt relieved that Indians were not in his bad books; but soon it dawned on me that it doesn't matter! For most of his ilk ( is that a significant part of the population ? ) i will always remain a dark faced, stinking, curry breath, uncultured monkey, no matter how far i go in my personal / professional life. I liked the idea that there should be some way of making sure that people who enter the country believe in democracy, equality etc. But then again, using the same scale, a decent section of the population in this country won't be eligible - show me a person who is not any of these - anti-black, anti-gay, anti-jewish, anti-asian, anti-german ( i am sure there are still left even after 50 years ), anti-native Indian etc etc. At one point the author talks abt immigrants bringing in diseases. Tell that to the native Indians!!! Should i say "don't read this book" ? No. Read it and make your own judgement. While i don't agree with the author, i believe in his ( and anybody else's ) rights to call me a ... immigrant.
Rating: Summary: The Truth Hurts Review: A must read for all Americans. Savage knows of what he speaks. This is like his 15th book and also his first #1 NYTimes Bestseller. Theres a reason for that. 50% of the country knows he's right. This was an excellent read, and it made me reflect on my own childhood, back when America was still a proud country where you could be a male. This is the best book I have read ...
Rating: Summary: Reactionary garbage Review: This man would be a facist given his druthers. The book is little more than a poorly supported reactionary's argument for why this country is facing very real problems today. Instead of considering that our foreign policies of the last 35 years may have had something to do with an increase in the haves vs. the have-nots or that our policies have translated into major disaffected populations around the globe, Savage would rather blame liberals. Instead of looking towards the pharmaceutical companies, poor sexual education and unconsitutional, religiously-based government practices, he would rather blame homosexuals for the spread of STDs--regardless of the fact that the largest growing demogrpahic with AIDs is heterosexuals. It has been proven that if a society wishes to decrease population growth, the answer is educating its women. If we do not want teenage pregnancy and we wish to stop abortion, make sex education and birth control readily available. Savage would have us believe that he touts American values, when in fact these are values similar to the Taliban's extremism when it comes to foreigners, women and non-fundamentalists. Liberalism has its own flaws but Savage is an enemy of truth, honesty, transparency, free speech and civil rights. In American fashion, however, he has managed to turn his political opportunism into a fast buck.
Rating: Summary: Full of lies and propoganda Review: This book is one of the worst books ever. It is filled with hate, lies, and propoganda. You might think that you're getting a decent book, but unless you're afraid of reality...don't get this book.
Rating: Summary: "Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here." Review: About 60% of Americans are sheep. Savage is just another self-promoter who is good at getting sheep riled up against a perceived enemy. The only person who benefits from getting sheep riled up is Savage. The remaining 40% of Americans are suspicious of religious leaders, political leaders, and celebrities; we want nothing to do with the schlock they sell. Savage claims that all the problems of America will be solved by embracing neo-conservatism and "traditional values." Intelligent Americans, the ones who love their homes, land, families, communities, want to live peaceful lives without pompous a---oles trying to force their particular brand of crazy on us. We want the crazy Jerry Falwells, Bill Clintons, and Michael W.Savages of the world to shut the F up and give us some peace. We want the liars and thieves in Washington DC to leave us alone, stop taxing us to death, and stop sending our kids off to fight wars in countries that don't matter. (Digression: who has STOLEN more money from you in the last ten years, your tax-hungry poiticians or Saddam Hussein? Are you ever going to see all of the Social Security money the governement has stolen from you?) Savage is just a neo-conservative who believes that republican politicians will save us and that liberalism is the cause of all of America's problems. Be suspicious of anyone with such a simplistic mindset. Also, be suspicious of a book when its reviewers say: "Savage is a voice for America and what it stands for"; "A book to save America!"; "Only Un-Americans will dislike this book"; "Finally someone that tells it like it is"; "A Light in the Fog"; "One of the best conservative books ever written...!,"; "Voltaire of the Air!"; "Finally America has a chance"; "A Gifted Mind That Only A Socialist &/or Fascist Could Hate" The above quotes were written by SHEEP that believe Savage is a savior. Digression: Oddly enough, they're the same sheep who believe Jesus was a savior. Would Jesus be part of the Savage Nation? Hmmmmm.
Rating: Summary: BACK TO SANITY Review: It was so refreshing to read a book where someone simply states everything we know to be true but are afraid to say outloud for fear of condemnation by the insidious Politically Correct Police (PCP). Thankfully there are still some sane voices in America who won't be censored by the PCP. The attitude of the book is a revisit to good old fashioned American common sense. Kudos to Mr. Savage.
Rating: Summary: Q: Who is Michael Savage? Review: A: The love child of Pat Buchanan and Anne Coulter. Readers who enjoyed this book also enjoyed Mein Kampf, The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, and The Misunderstood Genius of Bull Connor. Highly recommended for conservatives not too busy cutting those little eye-holes out of their sheets.
Rating: Summary: Lunatic Opportunist Review: Claims have been maintained for years about how far "divorced from reality' the the U.S. Left may be. This book is "Welcome to the disenfranchised from reality club" for so-called conservatives or libertarians -- neither of whom seem to know the meaning of either label these days. This book is hogwash and this guy is simply an opportunist. Nothing of thought-provoking value here..just another "radio personality" big-mouth clamoring for attention.
