Summary: Million stars for this one!
Review: Jim Willis quickly joined a short list of my very personal Special People.
I haven't even finished it but am so eager to put it in writing how very lovely and touching this book is.
Jim's heart is that of a genuine animal lover - and I am an expert in telling them apart (lol).What a wonderful idea of arranging the fund raising with the publisher - I'm definitely going to use it and telling others to do so.
Many thanks for "Pieces of My Heart" - in loving animals hearts of we are all united! I first learned about "Pieces of My Heart" on the page of "Dominion" by Matthew Scully.
(another "must" is "Animal Underworld" by Alan Green, both an eye openers! As to my very personal Sweethearts - they are: Louis Dorfman,
who moved my heart with just one sentence about his domesticated animals and practically changed my life.
He posted it on a message board, not related to animals, where we were all anonymous and it took me a few months of a difficult search to find out who he was).

Summary: A million stars and diamonds, too!
Review: Jim Willis touched the hearts and souls of animal lovers and caregivers with his essay "How Could You?" and his definition of "The Animals' Savior". Now it's time for Jim's writings to be shared with a wider audience and "Pieces of My Heart" does just that. The book is a emotional roller coaster ride with laughter and tears. It's pages hold the depth and truth about our human (and humane) relationship with companion animals. For anyone who loves animals and for those of us who want to soften a few hearts...the book is a MUST BUY / MUST READ / MUST SHARE kind of thing. My rating for "Pieces of My Heart"??? A Million Stars and Diamonds, too. It is a timeless testment for the kindess of heart and generousity of spirit of humans and animals alike.

Summary: Truly Inspirational
Review: Jim Willis's compassion for animals is truly expressed through these writings and poems and has inspired all of us here doing rescue work. Thanks for his generous offer to let rescue sell this book as a fundraiser for the dogs, we were able to share this inspirational book with many others, while helping our cause as well. Jim, thank you for sharing your Godly gift of the written text and your loving spirit for the precious animal kingdom. May those of you who read this wonderful book, be blessed while doing so.

Summary: A book everyone should read!
Review: Jim's book was brought to my attention as a fundraiser for rescue groups, Jim sacrificed many opportunities to allow this & I for one took advantage. The biggest surprise was the excellent writing inside the covers, he actually found words for what we live, eat, breathe & sleep everyday in rescue. Jim has renewed my rescue soul & I enjoyed it immensely! THANK YOU from myself & all of my 4 legged friends!

Summary: There are still Hero's
Review: One of the best and heartwarming books I have read in a very long time. May we all be blessed to know the love and joy of a rescued animal...those of you that have never adopted a pet, are really missing something...Read the book, and your heart will know what a wonderful, loving man Jim Willis is. Then, I pray you will make a visit to your local rescue, dog shelter or SPCA and make a difference in just one little life. We can't rescue them all but we can make a difference to the one we saved...Jim's book is a true example of that! Rescue animals have a way of making you feel THEY rescued you, and in Jim's words you will see it so.

Summary: CAN YOU LOVE IT WITHOUT READING IT?
Review: Perhaps it's not kosher. But, after reading the 4 sample stories on Jim Willis' website... and after sharing the wonderful HOW COULD YOU essay with my radio show listeners and fielding the unbelieveable outpouring of calls and e-mails in response... I feel qualified and compelled to recommend this book. If you have a dog. Or had a dog. Or know anybody who has or had a dog. Or ever thought you might someday get a dog. You really must read it. I'm ordering it now. Even if ONLY these 4 "samples" were included it would be worth the price of admission.

Review: Pieces of My Heart is one of the most beautiful books I have read in a long while - it is witty, sad, interesting, informative... In fact it is everything one could wish from a book. The author has such style of writing - I could have just read and read, for ever and ever! If you love animals, this book is a must.

Summary: Bless the Beasts, and Jim Willis
Review: Pieces of My Heart is one of those rare books that I will never part with. This is one that I will pull off the shelf often to read again and again. Every person that does any sort of animal rescue can relate to "How Could You?" I had the pleasure of sharing my home with a tabby cat for almost 20 years, and Jim's "Beloved of Bast" touched me deeply. On one page, I'm laughing reading "'If' For Dogs," and a few pages later, I'm crying at "I Loved You Best." Our small organization had the pleasure of using Mr. Willis' book as a fundraiser and we did exceptionally well. This is a book that sells itself. One only has to open a few pages, read a few poems, and you know you must have it for your own. Animal shelters and rescue organizations will do well spreading the word about Jim Willis.

Review: Pieces of My Heart will touch animal lovers of all ages, with stories that are funny and entertaining, lessons to be learned, and inspiration for all. If you're not an animal activist, this book will make you want to get involved. It also has wonderful stories that can be read to children. If you've lost a pet, you will be comforted by Jim's images of what comes next. Keep a tissue in hand, for tears of laughter and sadness. Jim Willis is an especially talented animal author who gets inside the head of his characters. If you haven't met Alexis, his Basset, you are missing one of life's greatest animal personalities (although not all Bassets are so sarcastic). Jim donates a generous portion of his sales to rescue; he lives what he writes and it shows in his book, truly pieces of his heart.
