Summary: Dynamic workshop in a book
Review: This is the most powerful book working with the Native American Directions that I have ever read. Jamie Sams writes clearly, compassionately, and with authority. The only points difficult for me to understand were Pathways I had not yet encountered.

I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in working with the Seven Directions.

Summary: An Excellent Deck for Beginners
Review: This was the first divination deck that I purchased, after I was introduced to them by a woman who did readings with them. The deck is very comprehensive and the meanings behind each animal are easy to remember. They are very accurate -- but these are not the type of cards that can tell you future events. They merely are used to help improve your situation. I find that keeping a journal with them makes it easy to understand, and can be used simultaneously with the Sacred Path Cards. All in all, I recommend them to anyone who is starting out in divination.

Summary: Samms Is Not Native, And Neither Is What She's Selling
Review: What Samms sells has nothing to do with Native cultures anywhere, except in the fantasies of people who know so little about our cultures that they don't realize Tarot and card divination are purely EUROPEAN practices.

If you want to TRULY understand Native cultures and beliefs, read Vine Deloria's God Is Red or Ward Churchill's Indians R Us instead. Better yet, read Phil Deloria's Playing Indian to try and understand why you and other whites have these ridiculous fantasies about Natives in the first place. But don't give your money to a huckster like Samms, or you will be regarded as a spiritual exploiter just like she is.

Summary: A first-rate deck!
Review: With the head-spinningly large number of tarot decks out there, it's hard to pick one that will (a) stand out from the crowd of too-similar decks; (b) make for easy and accurate readings; and (c) have decent artwork. This book-and-deck set has all three, and provides thorough yet simple explanations that make sense. The artwork is not to be equaled; just take a look at the preview pages here! A fun and user-friendly deck, and highly recommended for anyone interested in Native American culture and spiritualism.
