Rating: Summary: big time, I like it Review: This book really explors everything that I really wanted to say all my life, it is a extension of myself and I think that it can be used for anyone because it stays general about your own personal peace. I also liked this book because it made me explore myself as well as others, I know have a better understanding of people and their actions and why they do things. I think that people should read this book if they are wondering about human nature and inner peace, I believe that there is no answer for peace but that it is the answer.
Rating: Summary: Bach's Reluctant Messiah Review: The ideas in this book were fascinating and freeing. The author's powerful message was basically that we are in control of our own lives, and the power to do whatever we want and be whatever we want is in our hands. His Messiah, the pilot of a bi-place barnstorming the Midwest in the late 70's, has decided to quit. This twist of the plot itself is part of the message - that we are free to "quit" the responsibilites put on us by others in order to be true to ourselves. I didn't think the book was particularly well-written - it was sometimes choppy and unclear. But the author's point transcends, and the book is well worth the read.
Rating: Summary: Kirsten's Illusions Book Review Review: "Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah" by Richard Bach can definitely be referred to as the cliche "a page turner." As soon as I began reading it, I could not put it down. "Illusions" is the story of a man named Richard who gives plane rides to people. He meets a man, Donald, who surprisingly does the same thing. Soon, Richard discovers that this man is a Messiah who has "quit" his job. During the time they spend giving plane rides to people together, Donald teaches Richard how to also be a Messiah. Their adventures and Donald's lessons could not be anymore interesting. I highly suggest this book to anyone who is looking for a good read or who enjoys learning about a new perspective of life.
Rating: Summary: Illusions Review: This book is a good fictional story, but if you want truth I would suggest a more realistic book. As far as inspiration goes Bach tries to influence the lives of his readers by explaining that they can do anything. If you have beliefs in past lives and fantasy beings this is the book for you. Bach mixes a man who can do anything and the last days of his life teaching another man about the illusion of the universe. On a personal note I do not believe in what the book teaches. I would like anyone who reads it not to just accept everything it says as true, but think for yourself on what is and what is not correct.
Rating: Summary: No other book . . . no other auther Review: . . . Could make life seem so wonderfully great and yet simplistic. When life gets tough, I often pull out my well worn copy of this book. I've loaned it out many times and bought copies for friends. It will continually stay on my keeper shelf. My favorite quotes on life come from this book because Bach makes us realize we write our own futures through each decision we make and yet everything in life we can learn from and have the power to change.
Rating: Summary: Richard Bach's Ilusions is an inspirational novel for all! Review: When I was presented with the assignment of reading Richard Bach's Illusions- The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah, I became rahter hesitant. It was not my normal type of reading. However as I started to get further into the book, I realized how touching and how inspirational this book can be. I was able to apply some of the quotes into my life to give myself answers to problems. For all you readers out there, this book can be as inspirational as entertaining. It is a pick me up, even though it is a bit on the sappy side. It is a wonderful way of looking at life minus any protective goggles. Bach himself says, "Everything in this book may be wrong," however this book can be a very good start for any individual who is trying to find themselves and their place in life. If you enjoy being uplifted this book is the only book that can give you the answers you need.

Rating: Summary: My favorite book ever Review: This book literally changed my life. My father gave it to me when I was 14 and it completely transformed the way I look at the world. It made me question the ideas that I'd accepted as a youngster, and encouraged me to think for myself and determine my own path.I have read most of Bach's novels, but Illusions will always be my favorite.
Rating: Summary: A call... Review: But are you going to pick up the phone? Reading through these reviews it seems either you love this book or you hate it. Although why someone would spend time writing a review they felt mediocre about seems a bit unreal. True, the words in this book can seem trite, meaningless to "reality" and, even worse, a waste of time. But then you realize...he admits it. All throughout the book he tells you again and again that these words are just a phone call, YOU have to pick up the phone. YOU have to do what you choose to. From the beginning parable when the followers are shouting at him to take over their lives and make them better to the last message "Everything in this book might be wrong," Bach makes certain that he never takes away any of the only freedom anyone truly has...the freedom to choose. The book isin reality only words, will you choose to experience your own reality?
Rating: Summary: Break down the Can'ts of your life Review: This book was a message to poor souls that have been caught up in the "I can't" attitude. It tells you to be patient and look for answers and keep looking when you are told there are none. With that comes the perception of hope.
