Rating: Summary: Fantastic................. Review: I recieved this book yesterday and last night stayed up late and finished it. Sherrilyn has once again brought her Dark-Hunter series an fantastic book. Cassandra an Apollite has only one year to produce a child and to make it worse she has only a few years left to live. Wulf is supposed to be her enemy and yet he is drawn to her. You will want to read this one to see how they get together. Katra, Artima's handmaiden is intoduced in this one and happily Simi makes her appearence. Her GA-GA-Goo made me fall out of my chair laughing. Can't wait for Night Play coming out this August. I highly recommend this one. Read and enjoy.
Rating: Summary: OH MY LORD!!! Review: The hits just keep coming for this author. I loved every minute of this book. Cassandra has to have a child to keep the world from ending and Wulf is the one that turns her on. And oh, by the way, did I mention the immortal warriors that are out to kill her? It's so much more complicated than that, but you have to read this book. If you are a fan of the Dark Hunters, this is required reading!!!
Rating: Summary: BEST YET Review: Super plotting, dialogue, characters... It's a great series, and I swear this is the best yet. Intense. We finally get a chance to get up close and personal with the Apollites and Daimons, the prey of the DARK HUNTERS, and learn new and fascinating information about them. Very cool. The bare bones, the Dark Hunter Wulf must keep the Apollite Cassandra safe from the many factions who want her dead. She is the last in a bloodline that must survive or the world as we know it will perish. She is fast approaching final birthday, and the dark choice of dying in agony or becoming a Daimon is hard upon her. For Wulf and Cassandra, love between them is a bittersweet wonder. Even if they can keep Cassandra safe from assassins and vengeful gods, time itself will claim her. New characters, lots of interaction with ones we've already met. New mysteries added to the wealth of intrigue already built up in previous books. This stands alone as a suspenseful drama, with heated romance, but it also is a part of a larger story arc with the other novels that slowly build up a gripping backstory and create a brand new mythic soap opera of ancient gods caught up in passions of love and hate. My eyes are recovering from crying buckets from the 'grab you by the heart and squeeze' drama that was so well worded ... really gorgeous dialogue, thumps hard in a good way. Good stuff!!! Way good stuff!!! Lots and lots of new characters to purr over and hope get their own novels soon. Strong, potent read on every level. All the others have been really good, but this is Dark Hunter novel kicks it up a notch. I read it straight through. It's almost 4am my time, and I'm getting my review in now while it's fresh. I'm so pleased with this read. >^,,^<
Rating: Summary: "Kiss of the Night" Great as usual!!! Review: Ok, I really loved this book!!! I haven't been so absorbed in a book since her last book! Cassandra is a half human, half Appolite and last direct decendant of Appolo. Because of a long standing curse, if she dies, the world ends. Enter Dark-Hunter Wulf, the man assigned to help protect her. I don't want to add any spoilers for those who haven't read it, but there are lots of twists and turns in this book that keep you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. One of the reasons I loved this book is that Sherrilyn shows us that contrary to what her readers thought, Appolites (Daimons) are not the faceless killers we all assumed they were. It was very eye opening and touching. My one and only complaint was that the prolauge had soooo much info it was hard to follow and absorb it all. I really love how all of Sherrilyn's books have different "feel's" to them. If you haven't read her other books, get them. Then get this one!!!!
Rating: Summary: Semi-Unforgetable :-D Review: I pick this one up as soon as it was available. I enjoyed the story and liked the prologue that added to the history of Sherrilyn's world. I didn't like the over lapped of the last two books. I will continue to read the dark-hunter series because I enjoy the character interactions.
Rating: Summary: Don't Interrupt My Love Scenes! Review: This was my first Dark Hunter novel so I was completely unfamiliar with the mythos going in. The author did a good job of giving enough explanation for me to understand the dynamic between Apollite, Daimon, Spathi, and Dark Hunter without seeming to cram it down my throat. She placed it as part of the developing back story which was fine with me. I also enjoyed the way she brought the old gods out to play. I thought Kat was Artemis in disguise at one point and I am wondering what Acheron is up to. I ran out and bought three other Dark Hunter novels this weekend. So, I guess you could say Sherrilyn has a new fan. I'm looking forward to Night Play. The only thing that broke my concentration while reading this was that the author interrupts three separate sex scenes with the hero becoming contemplative. I know there are points in a story where you need exposition but there has to be somewhere else to do that than in the middle of a sex romp. It was not a smooth transition at all either from sex to contemplation or from contemplation back to sex. I noticed it every time and grumbled to myself. But besides that nit, the story kept my attention and was definitely worth my precious reading time.
Rating: Summary: Glad the next one's a Were Hunter Review: Well, you ever notice how you watch Dracula and Return of Dracula, and it's the same? Then you rent Son of Dracula and it's a little different, then you get Dracula 1975 and you can't understand how it fits the series? Welcom to the equivalent. The first two Dark Hunter novels were very identical but good. The third was wildly different and imaginative. The fourth is a mess. Sure, we have yummy Wulf who no one can remember but his only living much beleagured kinsman/squire. But who's his heroine? She's an Appollite Princess hunted by Spathi warriors to bring about... well that Ms. Kenyon never quite makes clear. Cassandra makes you want to weep for the Appollites. She's almost to her dying day and she screams in her mind how she wants to live. Your heart aches for her. The feelings between Cass and Wulf are nonexistent. They have hot, hot HOT sex in their mutual dreams, but in person the sexual chemistry is so that you half expect him to adopt her. They must run from the most fearsome Spathi warrior and his son and so they escape to an Appollite town underground. Here's where it gets bizarre. Cass's sister is alive and a Daimon. And the big bad Spathi's son Urian is her Daimon lover. Kenyon makes you really feel for the Appollities and the Daimons. So at the end you're wondering "how can I read more Dark Hunter novels now? I like the Appollites!" Add to that an ending that makes you roll your eyes, and well, this seems like a half hearted effort. Ms. Kenyon could you PLEASE stop giving us Dark Hunter's who A: actually have a soul and are too dumb to walk out in the sunlight to test it (like Zarek) and B: get a chance to take revenge on the people who wronged them, and yet the forgo it(Like, well, all of the nancy boys)? Talk about wimps! I'll definitely be reading her were-hunter story but when the next DH novel comes out with Valerius, I will be very wary, you should be too.
Rating: Summary: More of the Same... Review: Kiss of the Night, the latest installment in the Dark Hunter Series, delivers what loyal readers have come to expect. She spun a mythological world that grows increasingly complex with each book. This world, filled with vampires, were-animals, and lots of immortal gods, is a fresh and fascinating setting for a romance novel. Unfortunately, while the background story gets more and more imaginative, the love stories remain bogged down in repetition. It seems that the time pressures placed on Ms. Kenyon have forced her to be lax on editing. The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive. The heroine smells like roses and powder. (A point that is reiterated throughout the novel, without cease.) The unhappy and feral Alpha male hero is indistinguishable from her other unhappy and feral Alpha male heroes. Kenyon's heroines also seem to be cut from the same cloth. If you have enjoyed Kenyon's other novels, Kiss of the Night fits right in. While the series storyline is developing through more complicated mythology and backstory, the love stories seem unfortunately similar. If, however, you were hoping for a departure from the Kenyon formula...you won't find it here.
Rating: Summary: Cool Review: This was my first Sherrilyn Kenyon book. I usually read a lot of historical romance novels. However, I love fantasy, action, and romance rolled into one novel. I would definitely say that this book had all three of those elements. Once I started reading, I just could not seem to put the book down. I really enjoy a book that keeps you wanting more. I did have a little hard time following along with all the detail. I am going to start at the beginning with the series to see if it will make a little more sense to me. Even with all the detail, this is a great book for those who love fantasy, action, and romance. I highly recommend it. I have also read a couple of Christine Feehan's novels, which are also excellent. If you liked this book, you would probably like some of Feehan's novels. Happy reading!!!!
Rating: Summary: Kiss of the Night Review: I have read all of the Dark-Hunter Novels by Sherrilyn Kenyon and every last book has been an exciting adventure, impossible to put the book down. Kiss of the Night makes you believe that LOVE can conquor all. When I'm fresh out of new books I re-read this one over and over until a new Dark Hunter book is written.
