Summary: Gotta have it!!
Review: I actually read this years ago, and it is one of my favorite books. I have re-read it at least five times and has been on my "Keeper" shelf ever since I purchased it. The story between
Derek and Sara is quite intense with sexual chemistry and gripping emotions. Neither have ever felt anything like it before. I particulary liked Derek. He is a survivor. His interesting, dark past is what made him such an unforgetable character. Sara is genuinely nice. I really liked her too. She is smart, clever, and falls helplessly in love with him. (In spite of herself) This book is well written, and is all around a great book.

Summary: A dream of a romance novel
Review: This is my third Lisa Kleypas book and it's the best I have read so far. I bought the book because of the many reviewers who were mad about the hero Derek Craven. They are right. He really is a wonderful hero! "Handsome, tough and tenacious Cockney, he rose from poverty to become lord of London's most exclusive gambling house-a struggle that has left Derek Craven fabulously wealthy, but hardened and suspicious" praises him the back of the book cover. Unlike so many other tormented and world-weary rogues in a romance novel Derek really has a substantial reason for being the way he is. And it needs a warm-hearted, sensitive and spirited woman like Sarah to bring out the best him. Derek feels not worthy for Sarah not because she is beautiful and highborn (the paramours he usually has are all blue-blooded and real stunners) which she isn't, but because she is the only real lady he has ever met. A lady who possesses all the qualities we look out for in a friend and a lover. But Sarah is no saint like Melanie in Gone with the wind, she is also a sensual woman with a liking for adventure. When she meets Derek for the first time she is doing research work for a book, and he is in serious trouble. She helps him and saves his life, but he is not very grateful for it in the beginning. He is not at all willing to let Sarah have a look at his gambling house, and doesn't appreciate that his employees enthusiastically show Sarah around. Yet he is not unaffected by her. Slowly he falls in love with Sarah but of course does not admit it, not even to himself. He even tries to marry Sarah off to another man two times which is of course bound to fail. The road to happiness for them is long and winded. The end is the most touching one I have read in a romance novel without being too cheesy. I especially liked the epilogue. This really happens seldom but I can thoroughly recommend this book for everyone who likes romance novels.

Summary: All I can say about this book is "Wow!"
Review: I have read hundreds of historical romance novels and I can honestly say that this is one of the best ones ever. The character of Derek is near-perfect as an injured, lonely, self-made man. Sara is a fabulous counterpart to his brooding as she is cheerful, innocent, and unabashedly loyal and honest.

This love story was so engrossing. I read the book in two sittings. Derek's fear of losing Sara made my heart ache...the end of the book was exciting, suprising (with the situation with the club and Lady Ashby). This was definitely a wonderful novel.

I highly recommend it.

Summary: Excellent romance!
Review: This one left me with a great big sigh...... oh man, what a love story. Although Sara was a bit tooooo naive I could definitely forgive her cause she was so good to Derek & he really deserved someone like her to take care of him (would have applied for the job myself if I'd known it was open! lol lol) It kept moving which allowed me to stay interested; thankfully it did not have too much of that "he thought about her (for 5 paragraphs) - she thought about him (for 5 paragraphs)"...... You know what I mean? When half the book is just about 2 people thinking about each other?? (A little pet-peeve of mine! lol) I've enjoyed the 2 books of LK's that I've read so far; I'll be giving her another try.

Summary: I Would Rate Higher if I Could
Review: This book is hot sexy fire in your hands! But make sure you read the first story in this series, Then Came You (which is a very good book in itself), where you get to know Derek before he meets this lovely, innocent and oh-so-sweet & likeable Sara Fielding. Because then you will love this book even more than you would if you read it before the first book, like i did (did that make sense?).

I love how this book is written about people who are on the outskirts of "acceptable" society. Sara is such a good, moral and accepting person of all walks of life that you cannot go away from this book without appreciating the strength of her character and wanting to try and be a little bit like her. Plus the fact that you get to fantasize about being with Derek Craven. But oh, i forget! He's just a figment of Lisa Kleypas' tantalizing imagination!

If you like white hot interaction and emotions running so high and earnestly that you can feel it yourself in the back of your throat as you try to hold back tears of anquish, READ THIS BOOK. If you don't like to read books that make you feel the tension of the characters and situations created within, that are boring and non-invigorating, then don't read this book.

I entirely enjoyed "Dreaming of You" (i'm dreaming of you, too!). Oh if only everyone in love loved each other in this manner with so much intensity and respect for each other, this world would be a completely different place.

Summary: It's a Keeper!
Review: This is one of the best romantic novels I have read and certainly one of Kleypas's strongest. The story is pretty typical: a sweet, innocent country girl lost in the big city with no experience or understanding of where she is who meets a jaded, mysterious man who dances around the fringe of acceptable society. However, that aside, Kleypas manages to weave a completely unique and lovely story around the central characters that is touching and engaging. The story contains the right amount of romantic angst, is very steamy and yet remains real. Highly recommended!

Summary: Emotional, Enthralling, Just Plain Wonderful
Review: This is my all-time favorite Lisa Kleypas book with Where Dreams Begin coming a close second. Where most regency romances focus on the English Aristocracy, Kleypas focuses on characters who are not of noble blood. The hero, Derek, is a self made man who was raised in poverty. He struggles fiercely to succeed, and his struggles pay off. He is a successful owner of a gaming hall and very wealthy. The heroine, Sara, is a country girl who has made a success of herself as a writer.

I just loved these two characters. Derek is a hard man, but when he loves, he loves completely and fiercely. He is not the typical "hardened" hero. He has done some very dehumanizing things while struggling to get out of the gutter where he was born, and he doesn't think he is good enough for Sara. Sara is not the typical fiesty heroine but the girl has a backbone and she will not give up. When she decides she wants Derek, the man doesn't stand a chance. I loved reading about these two coming to love each other, and the ending made me cry. Kleypas captures emotion so well, and she makes her characters seem like real people. If you like Lisa Kleypas, Dreaming of You is a must read.

Summary: IN MY FIRST-TO-GRAB-BOOKS-IN-CASE-THERE'S-A-FIRE SHELF
Review: At last, Derek's book. I've been craving to read Derek's story since I've finish reading Lily's. If you want a book without the pushy heroine, this book is for you. Sara is stubborn at somethings but she's understanding and doesn't push the hero into proclaiming his love for her all though the story. I absolutely love the part when Derek thought he was seeing Sara's ghost in the club. I am glad that the author brought back the charcters from the previous book, Then Came You, in this one (I love checking in on what else happened to previously read characters). A five star book that is a destined keeper.

Summary: Just OK
Review: After reading all the glowing reviews, I found myself very disapointed in this book. There was little, if any, "romantic suspense". It was clear they were going to get together and, in fact (SPOILER ALERT), they get married about halfway through the book and then there is just a third party plot twist that failed to sustain my interest. I skimmed the second half of the book.

A real disappointment.
