I couldn't put this book down.
Rating: Summary: Love have no fury!!!!! Review: An absolute enchanting tale of love and heartbreak. Love comes in all ages shapes and forms, YES, and even mixed heritage. Love conquers all. Julie and Romeo are symbols of many love stories. Theirs was filled with many emotions. A story so rich in intrigue. Many times I could not stop laughing. This is a real tale of the Hatfields and the McCoy's. Except only this time it was the Roseman's and the Cacciamani's. An excellent must read for all ages. I was sorry the story ended.
Rating: Summary: DELIGHTFUL Review: Though I thought the title a little corny, something made me buy this book. Julie and Romeo was the first book I've read in a long time that I didn't struggle through. I stayed up till 2:00 AM to finish! It's been ages since a book has captivated me like this. It made me laugh, cry and get mad. Mad because these 60 somethings were sneaking around as to not get caught. I wanted them to stand up to their families...especially Julie to her kids and Romeo with his aging mother. But the tip-toeing around was a major element in this book and hilarious at that! It was so refreshing to NOT read about young, gorgeous, hot teenagers. This couple could have been our parents or grandparents (depending on how old you are). I was routing for them from the start. I hope if I'm single at 60 something...
Rating: Summary: Hope she doesn't stop with this one! Review: I was browsing in a local bookstore, when I spotted this book. I read the desciption on the back and I thought I would give it a try. From the first page I was hooked. I was upset when it ended because I wanted more. This is one of the best books I have ever read.
Rating: Summary: Well Worth the time! Review: I'm not one for romance novels, but I enjoyed every moment. The new twist on the old Shakespeare classic really kept my attention. I highly recommend this for anyone who is looking for a light read to keep them smiling at the end!
Rating: Summary: The best book I've read in a long time! Review: This is a book you'll want to read over and over again. It had me laughing out loud. I'm sure every woman will love this book as much as I did. I just hope it becomes a movie someday so I can see it on the big screen.
Rating: Summary: Warm & Funny Review: I enjoyed this updated rendition of the classic love story. The characters were colorful and the story held me with it's warmth. I was sorry when the book ended. I especially liked the fact that the main characters, Julie & Romeo weren't kids and could still enjoy passion. I will look forward to more from this author.
Rating: Summary: Modern Day Shakespeare? Review: This is quite a delightful story. It is certainly a new take on an old love story. This modern day Romeo and Juliet are in their sixties and it's their children who provide the dissention. This book is quite humourous and heart-warming. Apparently, this is a first novel for this author, and I think the result is very good. The author is apparently a senior and a grandmother. She must have a good sense of humour becuase she sure has given her heroine that in this story. This is a very quick read, but lots of fun. I look forward to more from this author.
Rating: Summary: Where has Jeanne Ray Been Hiding? Review: Charming. That is the word that stands up and demands to be spoken in recognition of Jeanne Ray's, Julie and Romeo. Ray takes a fresh perspective on the idea of the forbidden love affair: this time it's the parents who must outmaneuver and stand strong against the disapproving children. The two main characters, Julie and Romeo, are not only members of Hatfield-and-McCoy-like families, they are competitors in business and from different backgrounds. He is Italian Catholic and she is Jewish. A less prominent obstacle for the relationship, but another subtle spin. I like that the main characters are around the sixty mark in years. We join Julie as she peruses the magazine section of a CVS, reading covers touting sex "After 30, 40 ,50." She muses that there must be no sex after 60. We are a culture saturated with media-centered focus on 20-year-old love angst. We can hardly turn on the television, watch VH1 or pick up a magazine without seeing, hearing or reading about some firm young thing and her sex life. Big deal. Like Julie discovers, sex gets steamy for the post fifty-crowd. Even the packaging of this book appeals. A flower shop window with colors that tap dance across the page. This is a charming story, a good quick read. My usual reading material is Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Literary Essays... this was like 5 minutes with a good cold ice tea on a hot July evening.
