Rating: Summary: The best prelude to "The Phantom of the Opera" ever!! Review: I read this book and I loved it. It was wonderful to read Susan's view of the history of the man behind the legend. Kudos on a job well done!
Rating: Summary: Informative and so very romantic Review: This was the best version of Leroux's Phantom of the Opera that I have ever read. I have read it over and over and over again. Especially when Christine comes in! I hightly recommend this book to anyone who wants to know more about Erik. This book gives his whole life story and then after. It's not the monster that is described, but the human being. Please read this book... you won't regret it. "None of us can choose where we will love."
Rating: Summary: This was one of the best books I have ever read! Review: Susan Kay is a truly gifted author and her Book The Phantom is one you'll never forget. It keeps your interest and even after you've finished you'll think about if forever.
Rating: Summary: Disgusting! Review: ~This book was absolutely disgusting and revolting. It begins with the story being told by his mother, telling how she hates him then it moves on to his teenage years where he becomes prey to all sorts of disgusting things. If you have any morals whatsoever don't read this book. I personally am a Phantom of the Opera fan but this book was not a welcome addition to the story. I realize that the reason some of the things are in there are because the author wants to give us a background as to why
Rating: Summary: Phantasmic! Review: Many portrayels of the Phantom have been attempted. Few Have come close to matching this one! Kay adds a spirt and mind to the phantom while striking the soul of the character
Rating: Summary: Phenominal Review: This book is the best. it not only gives you a greatly needed look into the soul of the Phantom, but it also gives you a bit of background, which increases the charisma of the character. To know that it doen't end with his death is a great legacy!
Rating: Summary: At last: The Complete, Definitive Phantom of the Opera Review: I happened to stumble across this book and quickly realized that Susan Kaye is truly one of the most gifted writers of our time. Simply put, Phantom is amazing; it may be the only "companion" book ever to outshine it's classic predesessor in both power and poetry. I have yet to meet the woman or man whi disliked this book even a little. By all means, do yourself a favor and read this book... even if you've never heard of the Phantom of the Opera. You'll be glad you did.
Rating: Summary: Fabulous! Review: The only way to describe this book is fabulous! I am a big fan of PHANTOM OF THE OPERA and this book is a must read for anyone who is a fan. I cried, I laughed, I fell in love with the Phantom, and even when I felt horrified by what was going on, I was engrossed with the book. This book is a definite keeper and I recommend it to everyone!
Rating: Summary: BRAVISSIMI Review: I was told of this book by a friend who could only remember the storyline--no title, no author. When I found it at the library, I had to read it in stages (I didn't have a card) I finally finished it for the first time, and I LOVE IT!! No, that's not enough. I ADORE IT. Kay is the most talented writer..she walks the tightrope of portraying Erik with ease. In most stories, he's either a emotional wreck or a emotionLESS monster. She has given us Erik, the very really man.(Love that sense of humor!) Her use of different POV's is perfect...Erik lived and breathed for me, he was real. I cried, not outwardly, but in my heart--and a heart's tears are more poignant than those of the eyes.I hurt for him,and I still do. And Christine was perfect too...the way I imagined she was feeling, Kay said she was. My favorite scene was the one with Ayesha and Erik at the organ (or was it a piano?). He was so gentle with her; when anyone else interrupting would have angered him, that teasing little cat only amused him. "I wish...I wish I were that cat!"
Rating: Summary: One of the most entrancing books I've ever read! Review: I am a big reader and also a huge fan of Andrew Webber's Phantom. I was looking for an interesting book to read and guess what? I found a book that I have read more times than I can count. Not only does it give deep insight into the Phantom, but everyone's point of view. Susan Kay is a very talented writer and I wish she would write a sequel. This book is so worth it, so BUY IT and READ IT!
