Rating: Summary: Absolutely Marvelous! Review: I adore historical romances, and this one is my favorite. I have read it about fifty times, and I still cannot put it down once I start. It is funny, endearing, and intriguing. The two main characters, Dain and Jessica, are perfect for each other. Watching them fall in love is absolute bliss!
Rating: Summary: Marvelously plotted, excellent characterization-- WOW!!! Review: I love romance novels, and I love historical romances best of all the romance subgenres, and this one is a pip! I didn't skim a single page. The heroine and hero surprised me at various turns in the plot. NOT a predictable romance. NOT a wimpy or passive heroine. NOT a white knight of a hero. The hero, Sebastian, is immoral, tormented, selfish, needy and proud. The heroine is witty, clever, strong, determined, and perceptive. When these two cross paths--the heroine is on a mission to remove her nincompoop brother from the hero's sphere of hellish influence--it's lightning and thunder and blood and guts (not always metaphorically speaking). The plot zooms. Not a boring moment. You cannot help yourself from turning the page, from delaying bedtime. Marvelous!Chase does a fabulous job of probing Sebastian's tortured soul and mind. Even when HE doesn't understand why he does things, the author and the heroine have insights. And as the plot unfolds to a really touching AND funny conclusion, you know you've encountered a master romance storyteller. If you enjoy historical romances, if you like a plot that zings, if you are tired of conventional heroines and heroes, do yourself a favor and read this refreshingly surprising romance. *Mir*
Rating: Summary: The Love between the Beauty and the Beast Review: This romance surpasses the levels of expectations in the Dreams of many people. Unlike hundreds of others romances I read, and liked; such as of Julie Garwood (my favorite), Judith McNaught, Jude Deveraux, where the both the hero and the heroin are beautiful, the estory of Lord of Scoundrels is excitingly different.
Rating: Summary: Glorious psychologically, and wonderfully funny! Review: This is simply one of the best Regencies I've every read (and that's a LOT of Regencies). I believe that the part I liked best was the humor -- laugh-out-loud funny at many points. I also *deeply* appreciated the author refraining from the 4-chapter misunderstanding. All too often it seems that a bit of honesty (and plain speaking) would clear up much of the "conflict" in the average romance book. The heroine's depth of understanding (and experience) of boys, whatever their age, made her insights very believable.Do yourself a BIG favor -- even if you're new (or jaded) to the genre: get this!
Rating: Summary: A Must Have Book for Romance Readers Review: This is the first of Loretta Chase's books that I've read. I was so taken by it! She's a master at dialogue, and creates wonderful scenes packed with simmering desire and witty conversation. You won't be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: One of my all time favorites!! Review: I love Loretta Chase, and this is, by far, her best. The characters are wonderfully developed and the spinoff books are equally delightful. I have read and re-read this book many times. Definately worth it!!!
Rating: Summary: Dark, complex hero and smart, plucky heroine go at it! Review: Dain and Jessica are complicated, fully-fleshed-out individuals who---thank goodness---find each other and finally value the other's worth. A brilliant read and an unforgettable story, filled with humor, originality, and intense romance. Sure, Loretta Chase doesn't flood the market with her books---but she maintains their quality. To quote Spencer Tracy (describing Katherine Hepburn), they're "cherce!"
Rating: Summary: enjoyable and addicting Review: One of the best I've ever read, and I've read a lot. The heroine is clever and sympathetic with much more insight than most, and the hero is completely endearing, because rather than in spite of his evil ways. Not only could I not put it down but it left me happy and satisfied, even after the second reading.
Rating: Summary: FABULOUS READING!!!! Review: I was first introduced to Loretta Chase's writing when I read 'The Mad Earl's Wife'. I fell in love with her writting and she has not failed me yet. 'Lord of Scoundrels' was the best romance I have read and I have read a lot. Her stories have more substance to them. I wish she could write faster also.
Rating: Summary: My favorite book by my favorite romance author! Review: I am a sucker for smart heroines and brooding heros. Lord of Scoundrels has both. Dain and Jessica fight their mutual attraction but they just can't help themselves. They are meant to be together. Love this author a lot. Wish she wrote faster but maybe if she wrote faster her books wouldn't be so good.
