Summary: Enjoyed it!
Review: This is the first Lisa Kleypas I've read, and I wasn't disappointed! It began with sexuality on page 1, paragraph 2, and didn't miss an opportunity right to the end! The romantic, sensual moments occurred also, but the sexual tension was always beneath the surface, when it wasn't in full (but not gross) description.

I liked the confident, competent, purposeful female main character. I especially like the bruised, sensitive male main character, who was not the typical "rogue" or "rake." I also liked the action occurring in the "low rent district," where the characters seemed real and concerned with personal survival as well as occasionally impressing the "ton."

I gave this book a 4 only because the writing style does not possess the depth of a Stepanie Laurens book, but it was a quick read with plenty of activity and action and suited me just fine!

The characters reappear in "Worth Any Price" (not yet published) when notorious Nick's story continues.

Summary: Is she loosing her touch?
Review: I've read two books by Lisa Kleypas (Suddenly You, Where Dreams Begin) and I loved them. But this one was flat and boring in comparison. The characters were unsympathetic, the plot predictable. Even the love scenes were boring. And I'm not complaining about "gratuitous sex", it's just that they made me yawn!
Besides, it started to disappoint me since the first pages. I don't like when the hero or the heroine feel that "incredibly urgent passion" since the very first page. Some authors can make it believable, but this is not the case.
It seemed that the author "had" to write a sensual novel, but felt no enthusiasm or inspiration.
In the overall, it's not that bad, so if you're looking for a "relaxing read" this book could be a good choice.
But there's such a large quantity of romances out there, you could save your money for something better...

Summary: Not As Good As It Could Have Been
Review: Although this author is still one of my favorites, I must admit that this story was not up to her normal standards. It was slow to start and I had a hard time wanting to pick it back up after I had set it down. The story was rather predictable and did bore me like I said earlier. If this is your first time reading Ms. Kleypas don't judge her on this effort alone. She is normally a very talented author.

Summary: Lady Sophia's Lover
Review: I think that this story around Sophia and Ross is great. Sophia, angered by her brother's death, belives it all to be the fault of Ross Cannon, the lead London's magistrate. She wants to harm the man and get information from this man. What she doesn't know is that she would come to love the man then want to hurt him. What did happen to her brother?

Summary: WONDERFUL!!!
Review: A very sensual love story - with the emphasis on LOVE!!

The attraction between Sophia and Ross is palpable from page one. Not the usual "I love you - but also hate you - so I can't let you know I love you" stuff. I immediately liked both characters and was happy that it didn't take long for them to admit it themselves. Even though Sophia starts out wanting to hurt Ross, she finds herself unable to act on it because of his warmth and kindness. Thus, their relationship begins with mutual respect (and physical attraction) and culminates in true love.

I wanted to keep on reading after the book ended. Lisa Kleypas again proved why she's one of my favorites!

Summary: In My Top 10...
Review: This book is definitely in my re-read pile. In fact, I re-read it one week after the first time. It is Lisa Kleypas's best book yet, and I love many of her stories. In fact, I was shocked to find any negative reviews of "Lady Sophia's Lover." It was amazingly good, and for one main reason: Sir Ross. His is one of the best heros ever, equal to all Garwood historical heros, and for me, that is saying a lot. I loved that he was not a rake, but was still as sexy as any man. He respects women, (a shocker in comparison to other heros), he is non-judgemental, has a sense of humor, is attractive, and above all else, He is not afraid to love a woman, despite a tragic previous marriage.
Furthermore, Sophia is a great heroine. Thank heavens for a non-virgin. I am sick of reading about prudish virgins who are not in touch with natural feelings, or repress them because of society. While I don't necessarily want extreme sexual behavior, I was so relieved to read about a woman who is not afraid to try new things.
On that note, many commented previously on the high sexual content. True, there is a lot, but it is romantic and very applicable to the story. It is not gratuitous. A couple of scenes were especially great, because I cannot think of many other tasteful books that cover these practices, which are quite normal and sexual. I appreciate the honesty, and thought it was done wonderfully.
This book is amazing, and just writing about it makes me want to read it again. I cannot imagine anyone not enjoying this, unless they hate perfect men and women who deserve them.

Summary: One of Kleypas' best
Review: I was biased because of the many negative reviews here and only bought it because of the plot line that intrigued me. I was not disappointed. I beg to differ with those who said that there was no love story but only sex. Just the opposite. It was clearly a love story and a very passionate at that. I liked that Sophia was no virgin when she embarks on an affair with Sir Ross and that he thought it to be no issue at all. The only thing that disturbed him about it was that Sophia obviously wasn't treated well by her ex-lover. I was smitten with the hero who had all the qualities I love in a man: Personal integrity, protectiveness, loyalty, tolerance, a liberal, open mind and a great capacity of love, passion and faithfulness. Especially the latter is rarely to be found in a romance novel hero. Most of them have a distressing tendency to be hopelessly promiscuous and are only able to fall in love with a pure virgin which I always found to be the peak of double standards. I can never believe that such men can stay faithful to one woman for the rest of their lives after their past dissoluteness. It's highly unlikely in any case. But Sir Ross is known as the 'monk of Bow Street' who resigns to con-sort with prostitutes after the death of his beloved wife five years ago and has stayed (almost) celi-bate because of that. How remarkable and far more attractive to me than those eternal rogues who had a lot of shallow and sordid, loveless affairs before they meet the heroine. Sophia is a true match for Cannon for she possesses the same qualities as the hero. I also liked that Sir Ross was no tortured hero. I have always trouble with those dark, brooding and enigmatic men who populate the world of romance novels in abundance. It is true, though that Lisa Kleypas latest book is more erotic than the average romance novel and a little more graphic. I couldn't find fault in that at all. She did not describe anything kinky or extreme. I highly enjoyed those parts for they possessed a tenderness that is very rare. Often steamy erotic scenes become so incredulous and exaggerated that I fear for the health and well-being of the heroine. This was not the case here. If you like sensual romances with two loveable heroes, this is a treat for you.

IMO her book gets better with the years which is also very seldom.

Summary: THERE'S HOPE
Review: It took me two attempts to read this book. I'm not sure if the beginning was too slow or if I was just temporarily burned out on this genre. At any rate, the second attempt took me to the end, and I have to say there is hope for all LK fans. I didn't think her last book was up to her standards but this one gives me hope. What I really liked about this particular love story is that it WAS a love story. Love is about forgiveness and that's what this is all about. No "I love you" one minute and then "I hate you" the next. Problems were talked out and solved. Interesting characters, and I'm sure another Bow Street Runner book is coming. Good read.

Summary: Major Disappointment
Review: Lis Kleypas has been a favorite author...one I would buy without reviewing. Something has happpened to romance writers...like her ,there is no more building of characters, story line...it is all about gratuitous sex...from page one. I have been a fan of Lisa's and have read all her books. She too, should go back and read some of her greats and remember character, story and romance is the bedrock of good romantic novels.
