Rating: Summary: I read better stuff in 9th grade creative writing Review: This is the most inconsistent book I've ever read. One moment the main character, Liv, is a dowdy copy of Janeane Garafolo in 'The truth about cats and dogs', the next she's an unconquerable sex goddess. The references to Sydney are off (there are 8 digits in Australian phone numbers). The only thing consistent about the book is the tired, unbelievable plot and lack of grammar and imagination. I had to wonder if this book was edited at all, obviously never by anyone who's been to Sydney. The book is a sad [copy] of "the Girl's Guide to Hunting and Fishing", which is much more enjoyable, and professionally done.
Rating: Summary: Boring and poorly written! Review: This book is so predictable that you'll know the ending after reading the first chapter. Worse, though, it was apparently never proofread. I've never seen so many grammatical errors in one book!
Rating: Summary: Don't waste your money!! Review: I purchased this book based on the reader reviews and could not believe that it was given such high marks after reading it myself. Of course I was expecting it to be a light read, but this was unbearable. There was no character development, and the story line was a bit unbelievable. I believe that I only kept reading it just to see if it could get any worse. Which it did. I can't believe the author was able to get this published. Not to mention that someone actually admits to EDITING this train wreck. There are so many other good books in this genre, I wouldn't waste your money on this one. Marian Keyes, Jane Green, Sophie Kinsella and Jennifer Weiner are just a few who have produced witty and enjoyable reads that don't make you want to rip it apart, page by page, after you have finished.
Rating: Summary: a really excellent book Review: I just finished this book and i loved it and I fell in love with the characdters especially Ben Parker. I recommand this book to everyone.

Rating: Summary: Not About Dogs Review: Liv Elliot, a London accountant, is devastated when her groom-to-be calls off the wedding. With the help of Alex, her best friend, Liv resolves to not lose her spunky wit and moves down to Sydney, Australia to recuperate. There she predictably runs into her high school sweetheart, Ben Parker, falling in love all over again. Ben, however, has a girlfriend. In order to win her long-lost love again, Liv will follow the clever rules of Dog Handling. She will have to treat a man like a dog, and he'd come running. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Being in a similar situation myself, I am eager to try the Dog Handling rules. Clare Naylor wrote a lighthearted, easy read and I am looking forward to reading other novels by her. She uses a great deal of vernacular style, for the story takes place in London and Australia. This device helps add effect to the book, because Naylor uses Aussie words to such an extent that the reader can almost hear the heavy Australian accent. Naylor also uses witty metaphors and similes which add sardonic humor to the novel, making it difficult to put down. In addition, Naylor also uses humor to develop a carefree plot with satire and dramatic irony. Satire allows the reader to see the differences between London's society and Australia's. Her use of dramatic irony creates suspense in the novel, also making it difficult to put down. All in all, I feel that Dog Handling is a clever and witty novel that is full of surprises.
Rating: Summary: Mildly entertaining Review: "Dog Handling" deals with the story of Liv Elliot who was about to be married with Tim, whom she dated for five years, when he broke their engagement and decided that they were not in love anymore. To mend her broke heart, Liv left the United States for Australia where her best friend was currently on holidays. She had a good time there, meeting strangers who later became her friends, the beach and a chance to meet up with Ben. When Liv was 18 and on holidays in France, she met Ben and they had a brief summer romance. Liv, had a second chance to see if Ben was the right one for her. That was not the only thing that was about to change in Liv's life but also her career; from accounting to fashion designing. "Dog Handling" is midly entertaining, but unfortunately not very memorable. It is one of those books that you read but a few weeks later don't really remember what the plot was. It is also rather predictable and the secondary characters are just so-so. At times, some of the characters/plots seem a bit unbelievable - such as how can a foreigner just stayed in Australia as long as she likes and somewhat magically start a business. Just the nitty-gritty details like that were omitted. However, it is still rather interesting to read how she went on a rebound and met strange but rather interesting characters and how it all ended.
Rating: Summary: Don't waste your time! Review: This book was the worst one I can remember reading in quite some time. It took me months to get through it because I was so bored with it. I felt like I was back in high school and I had to read this aweful story. Do not waste your time on this ridiculous and predictable book.
Rating: Summary: Excellent book for pleasure reading Review: Dog Handling was definitely not one of the typical books I would have read but a friend of mine recommended it to me so I thought I'd check it out. I'm so glad I did because this book was so funny and totally unpredictable. Throughout the book I could not tell what the ending was going to be and that made it so difficult to stop reading! I would definitely recommend it to anyone that loves romantic comedies. The characters have been well formed and its great that Naylor used a typical woman with average physical appearance and lifestyle as the main character. Yet at the same time brings in other characters that give the book excitment and a life we could only dream of having.
Rating: Summary: Too cute to put down Review: What do an accountant, a socialite, 2 homosexuals and an archetect have in common? A lot more than you think.... I have to admit that it took me about 40 pages to really get into this book, but once I did, I didn't want to put it down. Liv is someone I could totally relate to and Clare Naylor keeps you wanting to know more about Liv, Alex and everyone who pops in and out of their lives. I spent an entire Sunday reading "Dog Handling" because I just couldn't put it down. While at times it could be a little predictable there was enough to keep you guessing and wanting more. Good read.
