Summary: Without a doubt, the best historical romance book written!
Review: I'm hooked like everyone else! I bought Shanna at a garage sale years ago for 25 cents and was immediately hooked! I could not put it down. I read all weekend til it was done, and then I didn't want it to end! I wanted more of Shanna and Ruark. I read it at least 10 times. I even have my favorite pages memorized. Am I sick or what? I still have my worn, frayed paperback copy along with a hardback plus all her other books. My question is: "WHEN WILL SHANNA BE ON AUDIO?" We dedicated readers deserve this! Summary: After SHANNA I had to read anything she wrote.
Review: I was not a dedicated reader of any kind til Shanna. I read the first 4 or 5 pages (several times) thinking this is more than I want to get into. I made myself go on and have never been more pleased with the end results. I couldn't put it down, and have been a devoted Woodiwiss admirer since. That was 18 years ago, and I am glad to say that the tradition has been passed on to my 23 year old daughter who is just as fond of her as I. Thanks to Ms. Woodiwiss, my grade school love of reading was rejuvenated. I found her stories great and continue to "read and wait"- read what she writes and wait for the next one. I hope she never tires of this talent she has, because I'll never tire of reading all she has to offer.

Review: When I first started reading this book, I thought the author's idea of her heroine tricking her father by marrying a condemned man in prison was one of the most original plots I'd ever read. It only got better from there. Shanna was my first Woodiwiss book and I can't get enough of her stories. Kathleen E. Woodiwiss is truly one of the most fantastic romance novelists of my time.

Summary: Shanna whetted my appetite for reading.
Review: The first time I read Shanna, was prior to 1978. It was only the beginning of a whole new world for me. I have bought everything you have written, and have read Shanna and Ashes in the Wind, at least 15 times each.

Reading is my "Calgon", my stress reliever. I become Shanna. I get totally absorbed in your story. I loved Ruark and despised Gaylord. I am sitting here trying to come up with my favorite part of the book, and I keep running from one scene to another, thinking "Oh, but" . I loved it all, every scene you wrote is still vivid in my minds eye. Your love scenes make me feel alive. (My husband thanks you too.)

I traveled the world with you and Shanna and Ruark and lived in their world. Shanna was the beginning of my reading. You opened a new and exciting world for me; one that has brought me, and continues to bring me great pleasure.

I read many different romance authors now, but I am always searching the book stores for information on any new books from you. I miss your unique and wonderful stories and look forward with great anticipation to your next book.

Summary: One of my favorite books! Makes you laugh and cry!
Review: I loved "Shanna" and read it every couple of years. This book keeps you guessing until the very end and is always surprising. This book is one of the least predictable books I've ever read. Sometimes you need an entire box of kleenex by your side and other times you get so mad you'd like to throw the characters up against the wall. I highly recommend this book that likes books that keep you on your toes and twists around every corner

Review: Ms. Woodiwiss knows what the adult woman wants to hear, feel, touch, smell, and taste. ((especially taste)). This was my first sample of the Woodiwiss masterpieces, I have them all, and I savor each one over and over again. I am jealous of anyone who will be reading her for the first time, what a magnificent treat you have in store. To Ms. Woodiwiss, if you're here, thank you with all of my heart, and my husband's heart (for he surely benefited). Summary: One of my favorites. Keep reading it over and over
Review: I just love the books you write. The Flame and the Flower was the first book I ever seriously read and from then on I was hooked on romantic novels. I love the way you write and wish you would write more often. Shanna is one of my all time favorites. I didn't want it to end. I hope you continue to write the way these two books were written. Maybe you could write a continuing story about Brandon and Heather, or Ruark and Shanna. I can't say enough about these books. Please continue the good work, but I would like to see books by you on the newsstands more often

Review: Kathleen Woodiwiss brilliantly spins a tale of the gallant Ruark Beauchamp and haughty Shanna Trahern. Shanna, a wealthy prima donna is forced by her father to choose a husband by her 21st birthday or the choosing will be his. Shanna, fueled by selfish motives and a deadline coerces Raurk, a stranger and a condemned man into secretly marrying her. She offers him one night of wedded bliss in exchange for the use of his last name. However, her part of the bargain goes largely unfullfilled and all plans go awry when Raurk escapes the hangman's noose, changes his name and sets out to claim what is his. From there, a panicked Shanna must find a way to be rid of Ruark yet make good on her father's demand while Raurk insists that she must make good on her part of their bargain. Shanna is full of dreams and is waiting for Prince Charming to sweep her off of her feet. She had no intention of being married to an alleged criminal and wants nothing to do with him. Raurk is a gorgeous, incredibly masculine, self confident, moral man, who desires to make Shanna see that fairy tales are for children and that he is very much real and very much in love with her. He is determined to be with Shanna yet he knows that the choice must be hers. Raurk aka "John Ruark" is determined to intertwine his life with hers on her father's island plantation as well as to gain her father's respect. Their secret marriage brings much sexual tension between them as well as villainous plots against them. This was much, much more than the average boy meets girl plot and so very well written in classic Woodiwiss style. Will their secret be found out? Will Shanna realize that Ruark is really the man of her dreams? Will Shanna's father find this an "acceptable" union?
