Summary: Beautiful and perfect.... absolutely lovely....
Review: After reading all of the reviews I definitely agree with everyone... the book should have kept on going!! I believe Shanna to be Woodiwiss' best book and I've always wished for a sequel, or for it to be on audio, or to have them make a movie... She is a terrific author and I look forward to reading everyone of her books, I've read all the ones she has out many times over and never lose my interest.... hats off to this wonderful author... I really do adore her....

Summary: The best romance novel ever written!!
Review: This book is Kathleen Woodiwiss at her best. All of her book are wonderful, but when I began reading about Shanna and Ruark, I couldn't put the book down! I have reread Shanna at least 20 times. Whenever I feel down, I pick up this book and I am swept away for a few hours. I would love to read a sequel to this book...I feel as if I know all the characters and would like to know what happened to Shanna, Ruark and their twins. Shortly after finishing this book, I had twins(boy-girl) of my own, so I can really relate to the story. Shanna hooked me on romance novels for all time!!

Summary: The best "paperback romance" novel ever written!
Review: It has all the basic core ingredients of a "paperback romance novel" and the dialogue is great. I have to keep buying new editions because my old books get worn out! I loved this as a teenager and now I'm in my 30's and a married professional with kids and I still think it is terrific!

Summary: one of my favorite romance novels
Review: It's easy to make fun of the story, especially some of the more wordy passages. Yet, the book is as heroic as its protagonist, Ruark. I've rarely encountered a character who's so determined to win his love and at the same time, deserving of that love and more. I'm impressed by Ruark's strength which helps him overcome overwhelming odds despite his moments of frustration and anger. He has so much to offer that it's a wonder, or rather a test of the author's skill, that I still think Shanna is a perfect match for Ruark. This just proves that one is worthy of love despite one's faults.

Summary: I am sorry to say I too am named after this book.
Review: Although I enjoyed this lustful adventure when I was fifteen, the shallow romance does not spark my interest any longer. Maybe my problem is that I have never been a fan of romance novels, much preferring anything that more closly resembles life, or science fiction that has nothing to do with reality. I picked up this book again last month hoping to reminisce on why I liked it in my teenage years and understand a little more of why my mother liked it enough to name her first born after it, but I was at a loss. I found the first chapter positively ridiculous. I continued anyway hoping it would get better, but was not rewarded. There was enough fluff there to kill a person. By the thrid chapter I had to quit, and had my roomate rolling on the floor with laughter at the cliched language and preposterous events. I just hope my sexual encounters can't be described so cheesily. Ruark, I hate to break it to you, but you will never be this Shanna's hero.

Summary: Shanna. Mere words can't describe this. Awesome is a start.
Review: I could not put this story down, between four children and a demanding husband, I was totally swept into his world created by Kathleen Woodiwiss. Ruark totally had me from the start. I knew he would be the man I thought him to be. I wanted to be able to shake Shanna to her sences..but then I'd missed the good stuff! I love the story line..the characters..and the only thing I'd change is the ending..I wanted to know more. What happened to them, did they stay in Virginia or come back to the island to live with her father? Did they have more children...what did they do? Please write another...please. I loved every hour..got lost in it..If men were like this today...we wouldn't need to read these books..but since they are not...I'll keep escaping to Woodiwiss. Once you read one of these..you'll have to read them all. Kathleen Woodiwiss, if you read these things. I want you to know that you have made a difference in my life. I think your stories are truely wonderful. I treasure them all. Please keep writing! A movie wouldn't do your words justice..but I'd love to see one anyway. Especially this one.

Summary: An All-Time Classic
Review: One of the best books ever written. It's too bad that romance novels have such a bad rep, because I think that men could benefit from reading "Shanna." As a role model, Ruark Beauchamp could teach other men the art of loving a woman and still retaining a quintessential masculinity. He's also a man that even a modern, feminist woman could dream of. The interesting thing about the book is that by the end, I wished I could be friends with Ruark and Shanna, but I couldn't fantasize about Ruark. He belongs to Shanna, for all time. I wish I could find a man like Ruark who is never at a loss, and like a great cat - a panther - always lands on his feet.

Summary: WONDERFUL WOODIWISS
Review: When I was thirteen, one night my mother told me to read her Kathleen E. Woodiwiss books. Ever since, I have become a huge romance book fan. Shanna is one of my favorite books. It had to be the most original plot for a book. Ruark, of course, is every woman's dreams. Even though Shanna was so snobby, I wanted to smack her, she's still one of my favorite heroines( following only to Aislinn in The Wolf and the Dove). I was waiting on every page for her to blurt out the fact that Ruark was her husband. The way the truth came out really surprised me. I've read the book so many times, I think I've got every page almost memorized. I only hope Kathleen Woodiwiss write a sequel to this book. Finding out what happens to Shanna and Ruark's twins would be great.

Summary: Excellent, the best romantic writer ever
Review: I admired Kathleen Woodiwiss's talent. She is so goo, simply the best I think. After reading her book, it leave a wonderful romantic feeling in my heart. I decided to keep my own library of all her books!

Summary: Shanna is the best book I have ever read!
Review: I first read the book, Shanna, when I was 15 years old. That was 1985. I have since read it numerous times over. I was so disappointed when the book was over. It's as if I crave more. I want to know what happened to Ruark and Shanna once the book ended. I hope so very much there is a sequel to this book. I could only wish there was a movie made about the book. Who would play the parts? Audio would be nice too. I can honestly say this book helped shape the person that I am today.
