Summary: Excellent reading!
Review: I love this book. I could not put it down. Beverly Jenkins has done it once again. I have read all of her books, but Indigo is my favorite. Galen is soooooo romantic and caring. I could feel all the "Indigo" was feeling for this man. If one could be so lucky as to find a man like Galen, there would be nothing else to want. I cannot wait for her next novel!

Summary: Best African-American Historical Romance Novel Ever!
Review: Beverly Jenkins is a wonderful novelist. She brings light and love to a hidden history of Blacks in America. A huge hurray for her work and effort! All of her books are wonderful, but Indigo is my favorite. A close second is Topaz, Mrs. Jenkins' most recent novel.

Summary: One of the best works of African-American historical fiction
Review: At the risk of dating myself, let's just say that I loved staying up late watching old movies. I liked the Errol Flynn and Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. swashbucklers. I loved the costumes, the scenery and the action. Reading Beverly Jenkins' "Indigo" reminded me of those films. Galen Vachon was rich, handsome, mysterious, dashing and romantic. How could Hester Wyatt NOT fall in love with him? Huh? Hester was different that the women he was used to. A former slave, Hester had been rescued as a child from drudgery in the indigo plantation, but not before being branded for life by the deep, dark dye. She was strong, smart, sensuous, sassy AND she was committed to the abolition of slavery. What more could a man want? Their paths cross when he is seriously injured trying to help slaves escape to freedom. He is the notorious "Black Daniel" and she is a conductor at one of the Michigan stops on the Underground Railroad who is enlisted to nurse him back to health. Theirs is a deep passion. You can almost feel the heat in the pages! I never considered vanilla an aphrodisiac! The wedding scene is a classic. Beverly Jenkins has given us an excellent historical novel with rich African-American characters and facts --vividly.

Summary: Excellent
Review: Beverly Jenkins is a wonderful African-American romance writer. I have read all three of her books and they just keep on getting better. My favorite just happens to be Indigo. The history within this book, the tenderness, and the love displayed in so many ways just brings tears to your eyes. Beverly Jenkins has a wonderful way with words and describing every detail of what is happening. For anyone who loves "love" or who is a true romantic, this is the book to read. You will not be disappointed, you will not be able to put this book down and you will forever remember the characters Galen and his Indigo

Summary: Jenkins Continues to Delight, Amaze and Inform
Review: I am a huge fan of Beverly Jenkins' work. I've read "Night Song" and "Vivid." I could hardly wait to read the next great work she created. "Indigo" was everything I expected. I remembered being introduced to Galen and Hester in "Vivid." The story is rich, lush and romantic. I love how Jenkins presents African-Americans in a positive light. Hester is intelligent, strong, witty and classy. Galen is charming, beguliing, sensitive, romantic and incredibly sexy. You will be swept away in a world of romance, intrigue and lavishness. There are sweet moments as well as a few laughs. I must admit, I like "Vivid" more so than this novel. However, "Indigo" is an excellent book. Not only are Jenkins books entertaining, but informative. Throughout all three of her novels, interesting and historically accurate facts are interwoven into the plot. I suggest "Indigo" to ANY woman who wants to read quality romance novels and not only finish the book with a sense of being entertained, but enlightened.

Summary: a marvelous historical romance featuring african-americans
Review: I am a long time reader and fan of romance novels. It has been a pure delight to have discovered Beverly Jenkins and her novels featuring romance between black folks. With Indigo, I have now added her to my "must read anything she writes" list. Indigo, like her first two novels, is full of the most wonderful characters in the most historically compelling settings. Don't miss out on this treat. S. K. Allen (sweeties@erols.com)

Summary: And they just keep getting better...!
Review: Girlfriend, each one just gets better & better. I can't even compare which of the three I like best. I was running around checking each bookstore for "INDIGO" because I knew it was going to be a winner too. Every couple of months I have to check and see what "ya got new" because the stories are so realistic and full of passion. "INDIGO" as well as "NIGHTSONG" and "VIVID", are so full of our history...It's just amazing to sit and read. So please keep bringing on these historical, infor- mative & passionate stories of our people. May God be with ya. Your #1 Fan, LaWanda J. Nimmons Baltimore, Maryland

Summary: Get This On Your Bookshelf!
Review: After thoroughly enjoying my first novel by Beverly Jenkins I was immediately hungry for more. "Indigo" hit the spot.
(And "Topaz" and "Through The Storm" too!)
I originally read the book a few years ago, and am now falling in love with Hester and Galeno all over again. I'd forgotten how their passion burns up the pages! I just love the teasing (and tenderness) as Galen helps to bring out the woman in Hester. Considering the extreme challenges people of "the race" faced in those days it is hard to imagine that a love like theirs truly existed. But as they fought hard for equality they didn't forget the importance of playing hard at love. The wonderful mix of romance and historical fact (did I mention romance?) make this, and all of Ms. Beverly's books I've read so far, an excellent read. Can't wait to get my hands on the rest!
