Summary: Christine Feehan just keeps getting better!
Review: Christine Feehan has once again showed she is at the top with her latest release, Lair of the Lion. This is just her second gothic, but it shows that she has what it takes. Once you read this book, you will understand why Christine Feehan has such a loyal following. This book has it all- adventure, suspense, romance, humor, and of course that unique fire that keeps you coming back for more. You'll have a hard time putting it down. Don't miss out on this one, it will be growing wings and flying off the shelves!

Summary: Overwrought and Disjointed
Review: I enjoy Christine Feehan's books, but this was not one of her best. To describe it as overwrought would be an understatement. The heroine, Isabella Vernaducci feels "evil" and "chills up her spine" at least twice in every chapter. She breaks down in tears or is near tears regularly. I suppose though, that tears would be warranted since she is stalked, attacked, and/or injured in practically every chapter. Honestly, the beginning of each chapter became a guessing game: "How Will Isabella Get Hurt/Trapped/Attacked This Time?" I don't mind heroines in danger, but this was ridiculous.

Another aspect that hurt this book was lack of clear storytelling. The vagueness of "the curse" for instance. The explanation of why and how it originated was clear enough, but how it worked with the hero, Don DeMarco was not. First, only Isabella can see him as a man (not a beast). Then others can see him that way as long as she touches him. Later he explains that he can sometimes control his own image as a beast or a man. It seemed to change constantly and was unnecessarily confusing.

Also, the time frame for this book was never given, much like in Feehan's other (but unrelated) Italian palazzo book (The Scarletti Curse). It's obviously historical (despite some characters' annoying use of contemporary phrases like "going berserk") but a time period would have been nice.

Christine Feehan is an engaging author, and while the characters in this book were interesting, they couldn't overcome the heavy handed treatment in the book. Feehan seems more in her element with her vampire novels.

Summary: Lions, Loyalty and Love OH MY!
Review: The classic tale of Beauty and the Beast has a whole new twist thanks to Ms. Feehan's Lair of the Lion!

Love of her brother leads her to the cursed valley of Don DeMarco's. Legend and rumor make it a deadly place. She not only has to deal with the Beast, she's expected to deal with his pride of lions stalking her and Something Else, a taint of Evil as well!

Loyalty and the same Love gives Isabella the courage to forge foward where so many had failed. She makes it into the valley where she takes her life and heart, hands it to Don DeMarco in a valiant attempt to save her brothers life, rid the valley of it's curse and win the toughest battle of all, the heart of Don DeMarco.

Lions abound in this heartstopping story, from the pride of lions that stalk the valley to DON DeMarco himself. The wealth and depth of the characters is nothing short of spectacular, from the DON to his anscestors, to his insane (?) sister to the surprising twist at the end. Danger lurks in every corner, evil seeps into the castle like oil. No one is safe from the curse. Who can Isabella trust? Find yourself a comfortable spot and let Lair of the Lion lure you in for the afternoon.

Ms. Feehan has produced another wonderfully constructed story, as is her trademark, fashioning for us a world to lose ourselves in, knowing that we trust her to keep us enthralled to the very end!

I wait with baited breath to see if we will get Lucca and Franseca's story.

Summary: Love, Lust, Ghosts and Violence!
Review: Lair of the Lion is a passionate story about a young girl stripped of her land and wealth by the greedy hands of Don Rivellio, who also holds her brother captive awaiting execution. Desperate to save him, Isabella travels the fierce lands to the impenatrable sanctuary of the powerful Don DeMarco, to exchange her only bit of wealth, her deceased mother's jewelry, and her services as a servant, in return of her brother's safety. But the chemistry burns hotly between the two. He agrees to help her, if she'll become his wife.

Isabella has no objections, as long as her brother is returned safely. However, a strange and evil entity lives within the DeMarco court, living through a curse, and inflamed through jealousy, hatred and deceitfulness. The curse of all DeMarco men, that Isabella must find a way to end, before it destroys her and the Don DeMarco.

This book was an excellent read. It has a little bit of mystery, excitement and plenty of tension to keep any reader enthralled.

This has to be one of the most passion filled books that I have ever read. The love scenes are indescribably erotic and over the top with sensuality. A breath of fresh air to read from an author who can create sensual love scenes while still keeping romance between the characters. Nothing boring about their relationship or this book.

Summary: Four & 1/2, almost 5, stars
Review: I loved this book -- it was different and yet, thanks to the Beauty and the Beast basis, familiar. The book hooked me from the very beginning. Some reviewers have called it slow, and the lengthy bits of exposition do sometimes slow it down too much. The human villain is rarely actually there, usually relegated to being talked about. And there were too many mentions of Nicolai's hair. Other than those complaints, I thought it was very well done.

Nicolai is an amazing character. Very Alpha male, but then he's a lion, sort of. He is certainly a great tortured hero--you want to hold him and make it all better, just as Isabella does. And he is VERY sexy. Isabella has great inner strength. She is almost too virtuous at times, but her positive outlook helps save the day, the hero, and all who live in his "kingdom."

The secondary characters are rounded and interesting, most easily differentiated from each other. The elusive evil provides a dark, gothic flavor to the book. The emotion and suspense start early and carry all the way to the end. on top of all that, there's a very high sensuality quotient.

Some reviewers have said this book is nowhere near as good as others of hers -- in that case, I cannot wait to read them, 'cause I though this one was way up there.

Review: I must admit I just love Christine Feehan's writing style. I have enjoyed every one of her novels and would actually highly recommend anything she writes. I especially loved this story and the characters.

Isabella Vernaducci is an aristocrat and she needs help. Her brother has been imprisoned by an enemy and she needs him rescued before he is killed. She has nowhere to turn, so she decides to go to the home of Don Nicolai DeMarco and plead her brother's case. Don Nicolai DeMarco is a very rich and powerful aristocrat. He is also cursed. He meets Isabella and offers to save her brother if she agrees to live in his home and marry him. She agrees. Now Isabella and Don DeMarco will have to work together to solve this curse before it kills Isabella like it has every other DeMarco women who has loved the DeMarco men. Excellent excellent story. I highly recommend.

Summary: Hard to Finish
Review: I really enjoyed this-it was quite unusual and not heavy handed in terms of the supernatural elements. There were a couple of bad bits like the romance scenes being a bit too wooden and lacking in sensuality, and his long mane of golden hair flowing all over the place got to be a bit silly after a while. The Don was also a bit too Alpha male at times, but given his nature and the curse that is to be forgiven.

Summary: OOO La La!
Review: Christine, you have written a masterpiece - don't believe what the negative reviewers have said about your book.

I was mesmerized by this intriguing story of love, betrayal, lust, and revenge. Yes, the story did drag on and on a little, and she did wrap a lot of loose ends in the last few pages, but these novels are always about the journey. Personally, this book was very good, it kept me interested, and I had a hard time putting it down. I just fell in love with Isabella. She was such a beauty in a very dark place, and she was strong, assertive, bold, audacious, and she did it all with grace. All I can say is "bring a box of kleenex with you when you read this book, even if (especially if) you expect to read in public. Isabella is a true heroine.

Summary: Tripe
Review: This book was a read disappointment. It was loosely based on Beauty & the Beast. I could hardly get thru it and I have 2 friends that stopped reading after only half of the book. Read her Carpathian Series, it's great.
