Summary: NOT YOUR TYPICAL MEDEIROS
Review: If you're looking for the trademark humor and light heartedness of TM, pass by this book. If you're looking for a good "historical", grab it. A lot of angst and problems for our lovers but worth your time. Violence, some rough and/or questionable sex (rape?), but all in all a good story.

Summary: OH MY!
Review: The sensuality sizzles, the writing is phenomenal. I laughed. I cried. I couldn't put the book down until 6am this morning. If it would have been another 500 pages I would still be reading it instead of writing this review. Thank you, Teresa for writing this book!

Summary: Deserves More than 5
Review: this was a great book first i've ever read from Teresa Medeiros. In her books there is always some thing to figure out. Great pieces are the quotes she inserts at the beginning of each part.

Summary: Really one of the worse she's ever written
Review: I'll admit that I haven't read everything by Ms. Medeiros but an easy majority. So, as far as I'm, concerned, this is not only one of the worse books I've ever read but also the worse by this author. This is like the exception to the rules that comprise her writing talent. Whenever I think about this book, it's like, did SHE write this???? (blink) Really??? It's unbelievable to me that this is the same woman who wrote Touch of Enchantment and Charming the Prince, both stories that were also medieval but so much more romantic and touching. In Lady of Conquest, there is almost none of the humor that a Teresa Medeiros fan usually finds when reading her work. The passion is even a bit off in this one since, in the plainest terms, the hero basically rapes the heroine, more than once. And despite the fact that the heroine was a type of warrior, that didn't elevate the fact that she was so young which, is perhaps inescapable in a medieval but she was barely out of her pre-teens. The poetry that Ms. Medeiros added between parts was beautiful and the hero wasn't bad at all with the exception of him about NEVER trusting the heroine in anything, even when he's about to marry her. The details of history and the backdrop were lovely as well but overall, the story and plot were just lacking. Ms. Medeiros made it very hard for readers to even like her characters. If you've never read her before, then just know this one is pretty much the only exception to her talent.

Summary: Ugh.
Review: I was disappointed with both the story and the characters. I normally enjoy Medeiros a lot - I couldn't finish this book. After the fourth part, I lost the will to read the book. >.< The characters weren't likeable, and I didn't feel any compassion towards either of them. Read some of her later books - you'll be put in a much better mood than this one evokes.

Summary: Fantastic -!! Loved It! - Midievil Times
Review: This was a great story I loved it. Teresa's style of writing is so vivid and colorful it makes every page come to life. This is the story of Gelina and Conn. Gelina-is out to revenge her parents death. Conn-is king and wants to protect his people. She is caught between her love of a king and loyality to her family, who should she believe? This heart stopping tale brings characters into the scene that you fall in love with, laugh with and cry over. It has surprising twists that keep you on edge. If you want a book that will keep you up reading all night this is it.

Summary: I NEVER WANT THE STORY TO END!!!
Review: I really like this novel. It's better that Charming the Prince. I don't know what other say but I really like Gelina's character. She's the most courageous. When I read the last chapter I was a bit dissapointed because it just gave a short account on what happened. I wanted to read COnns declaration of love. I was dissapointed because I never want the story to end. I really like it very much. The flow and plot are very exciting. It kept me until four in the morning. I don't know why other found it boring. I found it really funny and hurty. :) LADY OF CONQUEST from now on will be one of my top-ten great books ever!! :) You should buy it, it's worth it.

Summary: As Much a Historical Novel as a Romance
Review: I have never liked another book by Ms Medeiros as well. This book is generally disliked by people who read genre romances because it doesn't fit in any of the tidy pigeon holes that romance has become. It is wildly imaginative, wonderfully exuberant and not afraid to take chances.

I sincerely wish that she had written more like this before becoming absorbed into the romance mainstream.

Summary: Is there more stars I can award?
Review: I loved the book! (That's an understatement!) It makes you mad, but u continue to read. In most books I find myself skimming paragraphs to get back to the good stuff, but in Lady of Conquest I read every word! I only hope I am lucky enough to find more books like this one! To Ms. Medeiros, please write more books with women strong like Gelina and strong, hansome fiercy men like Conn! Keep up the good work!

Summary: Controversy shows book is more than the usual formula
Review: I was surprised at the many poor ratings of this book. It is one of my favorites. I admit it is disturbing at times (I generally despise bodice rippers) but I found it refreshing to see characters having to overcome great odds and there is not doubt the two characters love each other despite both having great reason to hate the other and living in a harsh time. The story is very passionate and moving. If I had any criticism I would agree that the ending was too abrupt and a little too pat. Conn should have had a harder time getting Gelina back.
